Chapter 10 – No Pain, No Gain

As the rat fell to the ground and disappeared, Zhou Fei and his companions were still in a daze.

"What just happened!?"

"No idea, it looked like he drank something, and then his health just kept increasing. Look, it's still going up."

"If I'm not mistaken, he must have drunk a Health Recovery Potion!"

"Damn! He actually has something that good!"

At this moment, their eyes were filled with envy.

A Health Recovery Potion is a lifesaver, something everyone would want.

In no time, Chen Mo's nearly depleted health bar was fully restored, and the impressive effect left the group drooling.

Zhou Fei approached Chen Mo awkwardly and said, "I didn't expect you to have such a trump card when I spoke so loudly just now."

"It's fine," Chen Mo replied calmly, his tone not as cold as before.

He had been observing the group's actions and noticed they seemed to want to help him, so his tone softened a bit.

"Uh... classmate, can I ask where you got that Recovery Potion you just drank?" Zhou Fei rubbed his hands together, looking at Chen Mo with anticipation.

If they had something like that, their leveling speed would increase significantly.

"It dropped from a monster," Chen Mo said casually.

The game introduction mentioned that everything in Divine Path relies on drops, so it stands to reason that Recovery Potions would drop too.

"Alright," Zhou Fei nodded regretfully.

He had guessed it was a monster drop. Such things only drop from monsters, but he thought Chen Mo might have had a special source since he got it so early.

Now it seemed he was overthinking it. It was probably just good luck that Chen Mo got a potion from the first monster he killed.

"Hey, why don't you join us? It's really dangerous to be alone," Zhou Fei extended an olive branch.

He had witnessed Chen Mo's strength firsthand. If they could get him to join their team, their overall strength would increase significantly.

"No," Chen Mo waved his hand and then walked in another direction. After taking a few steps, he stopped, looked back at Zhou Fei, and said, "Be careful ahead, there are a lot of rats in that area."

Chen Mo wasn't one to talk much, but since they had wanted to help him earlier, he decided to give them a heads-up.

After speaking, Chen Mo continued walking forward. Fighting those rats was a bit tough, so he wanted to see if there were other monsters.

Watching Chen Mo's back, Zhou Fei sighed.

He knew that since Chen Mo chose to go solo, he wouldn't join them, but he couldn't help feeling a bit regretful.

"There don't seem to be many people in the whole school who choose to go solo. This guy has guts," one team member remarked.

"Since he chose to go solo, he must have some confidence. As long as nothing happens to him, his future achievements will definitely be high."

"Yeah."

"Let's go, let's also deal with those rats. They should be easier to kill than zombies."

Zhou Fei led his group cautiously forward, seemingly taking Chen Mo's advice to heart.

Soon, the ground trembled, and a large rat emerged from the ground, charging straight at them.

"Surround it!"

The group quickly encircled the rat, each of them punching it.

A series of damage numbers appeared, causing their faces to darken.

They had thought the rat's defense was low after seeing Chen Mo deal 16 damage with one strike.

But now they realized it wasn't low at all, with a full ten points of physical defense.

Among them, three had 6 points of strength, two had 7 points, and one had 5 points, yet none of them could break through its defense.

After this round, the combined damage from all six of them barely matched Chen Mo's single strike, and that was only because Zhou Fei's talent added damage. Otherwise, they wouldn't even compare to Chen Mo's single strike.

Indeed, there's no harm in comparison.

"Ugh..."

The rat wasn't just a passive target; it bit one of the team members, taking a large chunk of health.

"Hiss...!" The team member winced in pain.

"Everyone be careful, don't let it bite you. Its bite does a lot of damage!" Zhou Fei warned sternly.

Fortunately, they had numbers on their side and could spread out the damage. The rat wasn't smart enough to focus on one person, so there was no real danger to their lives.

That's the advantage of team combat.

Their fists rained down on the rat like a storm, and before long, under their combined assault, the rat fell to the ground and turned into light, merging into Zhou Fei's body.

"Whew..."

"Damn, it was so tough for all of us to take it down, and that guy did it alone," Zhou Fei marveled.

"I bet his talent is at least purple and boosts damage."

"Yeah, good thing we didn't offend him."

Meanwhile...

After parting ways with the group, Chen Mo walked in another direction for over ten minutes and suddenly saw several zombies wandering in a ruin.

"Zombies? This could work!" Chen Mo's eyes lit up.

Zombies had similar attributes to rats, but Chen Mo knew their weak points. Attacking weak points could deal double damage, greatly speeding up the kill rate.

However, there were five zombies ahead, and they weren't far apart. He needed to find a way to lure them one by one. If they all attacked at once, he'd be in big trouble.

Chen Mo picked up a rock from the ground and stealthily approached. When he got close to one of the zombies, he threw it, hitting the zombie accurately.

No damage numbers appeared on the zombie, indicating that this sneaky attack wasn't recognized by the game's rules.

Although it didn't deal damage, it successfully attracted the zombie's attention.

The zombie quickly locked onto Chen Mo and charged at him.

Chen Mo swiftly retreated, drawing the battle away to avoid attracting the other zombies.

After running a few hundred meters, Chen Mo stopped.

Soon, the zombie caught up, opening its bloody mouth to bite Chen Mo's neck.

Chen Mo sidestepped to avoid the bite, and his dagger instantly stabbed into the zombie's neck.

-32 (Weak Point Attack)

A massive damage number floated above the zombie's head, and its health bar dropped by a third.

The zombie swung a palm at Chen Mo, but he had already retreated.

Compared to a rat's tail, a zombie's palm was easier to dodge.

After dodging, Chen Mo closed in again, stabbing his dagger into the zombie's neck once more.

The mindless zombie didn't know to dodge, and the dagger pierced its neck again.

Another massive -32 appeared, and the zombie's health bar dropped significantly again.

This time, Chen Mo was a bit slow in retreating, and the zombie's claws left several bloody marks on his chest, costing him 12 health points.

Chen Mo countered with another dagger thrust into the zombie's neck, dealing another 32 damage.

The zombie, with only 4 health left, still lunged at Chen Mo with its mouth open.

Chen Mo stepped back to avoid the bite, casually slashing with his dagger to finish off the last four health points.

The zombie's body stiffened, then fell straight down, turning into a white and a black light that merged into Chen Mo's body.
