Chapter 9 – Auntie Lin's Last Wish

"Li Feng, I can't hold on any longer. I'm dying. Please promise me one thing."

Lin Ping's head was splitting, her whole body in pain, feeling life slowly slipping away.

Stranded on a deserted island and struck by severe illness, she was utterly exhausted.

"Auntie Lin, what do you want me to do?" Li Feng held her in his arms.

"If I die, please help me find Ting'er. Whether she's alive or dead, I want to find her."

Lin Ping lay in Li Feng's arms, tears falling.

She wanted to find her daughter.

Alive, she wanted to see her; dead, she wanted to see her body.

"Auntie Lin, you won't have any problems. I promise you, I will definitely help you find Lin Ting." Li Feng comforted her.

"Thank you, thank you, Li Feng. When facing death, one truly wishes to live." Lin Ping didn't want to die; she wanted to live.

"You won't have any problems, and I won't let you die."

Seeing her in such pain, Li Feng felt terrible too.

"Li Feng, the only thing I can't let go of is you. If I die, what will you do alone, all by yourself?"

Lin Ping was kind-hearted, worrying that after her death, Li Feng would be the only living person on the island.

In this godforsaken place, if there's only one living person, they would surely die in loneliness.

Such solitude was unimaginable.

Facing the vast sea alone, enduring the long, dark nights alone.

Loneliness, solitude.

When a person reaches a certain level of loneliness, they slowly succumb to depression.

"Auntie Lin, I won't let anything happen to you, nor will I let you leave me."

It can be hard to make great work when its stolen from "p𝑎wread.com".

Seeing her worry about him, Li Feng was very touched.

"I... I really can't go on, Li Feng, you must take care, you must live on."

Lin Ping's voice was very weak, intermittent, barely audible.

"Auntie Lin, Auntie Lin..."

Seeing her unresponsive, Li Feng called out anxiously.

Lin Ping lay motionless in his arms.

As if she were dead.

"Auntie Lin."

Li Feng hurriedly touched her forehead, and her hands and feet.

Her hands and feet were burning hot, her forehead scorching.

The fever was probably around forty degrees.

Li Feng was born in a remote rural area, his ancestors were from a martial arts family.

When he was young, he learned medicine and martial arts from his grandfather.

So based on experience, he could roughly judge that Lin Ping's fever was about forty degrees.

This body temperature was very dangerous.

Auntie Lin was unconscious and weak.

If not treated and cooled down in time, it might damage her brain.

"Auntie Lin!"

The sound of waves crashing on the beach echoed intermittently.

Li Feng held Lin Ping, calling out anxiously.

But the woman lay motionless, as if dead.

"Auntie Lin, I won't let you die, I must save you."

Li Feng looked up at the sky.

The moon was gradually setting, it should be around two in the morning, a few hours before dawn.

Lin Ping's condition was very serious, she couldn't last those few hours.

"Auntie Lin, I'm going to find herbs for you."

Li Feng prepared to search the forest for herbs.

He wanted to save Lin Ping.

He moved a few large stones, piling them into a fire barrier.

To prevent Lin Ping from being burned while unconscious.

The roaring fire could also ward off wild beasts.

Even if he left the fire, Lin Ping wouldn't be in danger for the time being.

"Auntie Lin, I'm going to find herbs for you, wait for me to come back."

With a kiss on her forehead, Li Feng picked up a torch and left quickly.

He needed to find herbs in the forest.

Reaching the edge of the jungle, he glanced back at the fire.

The bright fire seemed lonely in the dark night.

Tong Meng had just fled into the forest from here and was brutally killed by a monster.

Holding a torch in one hand and a wooden stick in the other, Li Feng took a deep breath and mustered the courage to enter the forest.

Hoping not to encounter danger.

After entering the forest, the bright flames from the fire seemed to bid him farewell.

"So cold!"

As Li Feng walked into the forest, he suddenly shivered.

It felt like a chill swept over him, his whole body cold.

This jungle was indeed dangerous.

Under the torchlight, the surrounding vegetation was dark.

Li Feng searched for medicinal herbs with the torch.

There were many herbs that could treat high fever.

The trees in this forest were peculiar, with gnarled roots and twisted trunks.

If not for saving Lin Ping, he definitely wouldn't risk coming into the forest.

Suddenly, Li Feng smelled a bloody scent.

The place where Tong Meng met his end was nearby.

His blood hadn't dried yet, hence the bloody smell.

Li Feng followed the scent of blood.

The lighter was on Tong Meng, he needed to find the lighter.

Without it, starting a fire on the island would be very troublesome in the future.

After passing a few large trees, he saw a corpse leaning against a rock, eyes wide open in death.

The corpse was Tong Meng.

This bastard died with his eyes wide open.

Those dead eyes were staring right at Li Feng.

Even though Li Feng was brave, seeing this scene made his scalp tingle.

In the middle of the night, suddenly encountering a corpse in the forest, those dead eyes staring at him.

It was too eerie and terrifying.

"Motherfucker, you bastard, even dead you dare to stare at me, I'll kick you to death."

Startled, Li Feng cursed loudly.

When he learned martial arts from his grandfather in the countryside, the old man once told him, if you're startled by something while walking at night, don't be afraid, muster the courage to curse a few times.

Because evil things fear the wicked.

When a person is angry, their yang energy becomes strong.

Although Li Feng didn't believe in superstitions, he thought it better to believe than not.

"Motherfucker, you bastard, I wasn't afraid of you when you were alive, let alone now that you're dead. If you dare stare at me again, I'll wipe out your whole family."

Bolstering his courage, Li Feng walked over angrily.

This trick indeed worked.

When he got angry, the eerie feeling disappeared.

He approached Tong Meng and saw that this birdman's heart had been pierced by something unknown.

The monster that attacked Tong Meng was truly formidable.

It managed to pierce his heart with one strike.

Except for the heart, there were no other injuries on his body.

There were fierce monsters on this island.

That thing killed Tong Meng but didn't eat his body.

What kind of monster was it? So powerful.

Li Feng raised the torch, scanning the surroundings, and after confirming there was no immediate danger, he hurriedly searched the body, retrieving the lighter from Tong Meng's pocket.

"You're dead anyway, this thing is useless to you, might as well do some good and let me use it. Hope you reincarnate as a good person in your next life."

Li Feng put the lighter in his pocket, then picked up some dry branches nearby to make a new torch.

The new torch burned brighter.

He didn't have time to bury Tong Meng's body, nor did he care to bury this bastard.

Rustle~

Just as Li Feng turned to leave, he heard a noise behind him.

"What is it!"

He turned back hurriedly, seeing Tong Meng's body slowly moving.

"Damn, is it coming back to life?"

Seeing the bastard's body move, Li Feng's scalp tingled.

Could this bastard have turned into a zombie, coming back to life?

Impossible, there are no zombies in this world, nor do bodies come back to life.

Just as he was puzzled, Tong Meng's body suddenly lunged forward.

"Ah!"

Seeing the body lunge forward, Li Feng was startled.

Fuck, could it be a ghost?
