Chapter 3 – Second Life

Chen Luo was a man of action. With the current technology, VR gaming glasses were already available, and he could use them as a medium to guide players' consciousness into Genesis.

A month later, when Chen Luo had recovered physically, he used the Primordial Brush to set up the teleportation channel. With its advanced technology, he bypassed the review process and launched the game on major popular gaming platforms.

"Second Life, a casual development game, meticulously developed over ten years with a realism level close to 100%. Start your species evolution and create your own Second Life now!"

Jiang Junhao was a seasoned user on the Steam platform, both a fervent game enthusiast and a game reviewer.

As a second-generation wealthy individual, he had no worries about food and drink, and his daily pleasure was discovering fun games to pass the time.

When Jiang Junhao saw the introduction of Second Life, claiming a realism of 100%, he couldn't help but laugh.

Currently, VR movies were all the rage, but he had tried several VR games online, and they were quite disappointing; the technology was far from mature.

The higher the realism, the larger the data package. Games with over 50% realism were measured in terabytes, and even the smaller ones were dozens or hundreds of gigabytes.

This little game claimed 100% realism but was only 1 gigabyte. It was like treating people as fools; the advertisement was too fake.

However, while Jiang Junhao was complaining, his hand instinctively clicked download.

After all, it was only 1 gigabyte, and with his internet speed, it would be done in seconds. It wouldn't hurt to take a look.

After downloading, Jiang Junhao registered an account named "Starting with a Kun," put on his VR glasses, which he usually used for watching movies, and entered the game.

"What exquisite graphics!"

As soon as Jiang Junhao entered, he was amazed. Unlike the usual shoddy VR games, he found himself in a realistic rainforest world.

The graphics were just like reality; he could feel the rain, the temperature, and even see all kinds of strange animals.

Jiang Junhao curiously observed for a while and found that the game interface had only one option:

[Please create a species to start your adventure. Creation method: Generate directly with your mind.]

Jiang Junhao was bewildered. He had played at least hundreds of games, and typically, games would provide races or characters for players to choose from.

This game was so hardcore that it required creating a species?

Jiang Junhao was intrigued and immediately ordered in his mind, "Kun."

[Sorry, the gene sequence of this species exceeds the player's capacity and cannot be created directly. Please choose again.]

Jiang Junhao was stunned but quickly tried dragons, phoenixes, and Black Tortoise divine beasts. All attempts resulted in exceeding the player's gene sequence.

Knowing it was futile to continue trying, Jiang Junhao decided to try different species.

"Human."

[Sorry, the player's current knowledge level is insufficient to create this species.]

"...What the heck? Can't even be a human?"

The game offered no response.

Frustrated, Jiang Junhao tried another term, "Ape-man!"

[Sorry, the player's current knowledge level is insufficient to create this species.]

"Damn it, at least tell me what knowledge level is needed to create a species."

No response.

"Lion!"

[Sorry, the player's current knowledge level is insufficient to create this species. It is recommended to start with the lowest level, an ant.]

Seemingly tired of prompting Jiang Junhao, the system directly offered a suggestion.

"What the heck!?"

Jiang Junhao was infuriated. What kind of game required a knowledge level to play?

Was it looking down on people?

"Damn it, I'm not playing anymore."

Jiang Junhao was about to exit the game, but seeing the incredibly realistic surroundings, he gritted his teeth and reconsidered.

"Damn it, an ant it is. Isn't it supposed to evolve infinitely? I'll evolve into a Chimera Ant and then devour this crappy game!"

"Establish an ant colony."

[Congratulations, player, for successfully establishing an ant colony. Begin your evolutionary journey from the current game scene.]

When Jiang Junhao heard the prompt, all the creation interfaces disappeared, and he found himself directly in the dense rainforest.

"How is this possible!? There's actually a sense of touch?"

Jiang Junhao was momentarily stunned. He tried crawling forward a few steps, and the sensations around him were clearly transmitted back.

Not only could he perceive everything outside, but he also knew clearly that he was an Ant Queen, with hundreds of ants following him. With just a signal, they would quickly follow his commands.

What kind of advanced technology was this, to provide such a realistic experience?

It turned out that the game's advertised 100% realism was not just false advertising.

Jiang Junhao found it unbelievable, but soon he became excited. This was undoubtedly something terrifyingly unimaginable. As an experienced player, he understood that once this spread, it would cause a massive upheaval in the gaming community.

What happened to Jiang Junhao was simultaneously occurring to 1,000 players in the closed beta.

The first thing they did upon entering the game was to whimsically create divine beasts and other random creatures.

Even though Chen Luo had the capability, he dared not create such things recklessly.

Firstly, it consumed too much lifespan, and he was already wary of falling into a weakened state again. Secondly, he feared creating something without value, resulting in a loss.

However, among the 1,000 closed beta players, Chen Luo discovered quite a few interesting talents.

Like Jiang Junhao, most people were stumped at the first step of creating a species and had to accept the system's suggestion, starting with ants, plants, fish, and other low-level creatures.

But about one percent, roughly 10 players, refused to accept the system's suggestion. Using their biological knowledge, some managed to create the Homo Sapiens species, just one step away from modern humans.

Others, with wild imaginations, mixed human genes with various animals, creating Ratmen, Antmen, Werewolves, and other bizarre creatures.

When Chen Luo saw this, he immediately focused his attention on these players.

Chen Luo didn't immediately analyze the genes of these species because they had just appeared and were far from a perfect state, requiring further observation.

In fact, Chen Luo only waited a day for the results.

Because while a day passed in the real world, 10,000 years had passed in the game. The bizarre species created by these players had already undergone the first round of natural selection.
