Chapter 12 – The Raft!

"You know, I've been imprisoned for three months. Now that I'm back, there are only two things I want to do. First, eat my fill of cheeseburgers, and second..."

Suddenly, Tony heard something and rolled his eyes.

"It's not what you're thinking. I want to hold a press conference!"

Listening to Tony and Pepper's chatter, Luo Mang was almost falling asleep. Fortunately, Tony hadn't talked until the end of time.

"Luo Mang, head straight to the Stark Industries Building. I need to warm up before the party starts."

With a gentle turn of the steering wheel, Luo Mang didn't refuse and started the car directly.

"I heard from Pepper that you didn't ask for anything?"

As the atmosphere grew tense, Tony couldn't help but speak first.

"Yes, Mr. Stark, I just don't like owing people."

"Don't call me Stark, remember you saved me? Call me Tony."

Tony, having faced a sudden change at the peak of his life, secretly appreciated both Yinsen and Luo Mang.

"Coincidentally, I don't like owing people either. Yinsen will be joining Stark Industries as we discussed before. How about you join too? I can offer you a job with an annual salary in the millions... How about being my bodyguard for outings? Don't look at me like that, I only want female bodyguards for close protection."

Despite just escaping danger, Tony recovered quickly and joked with interest.

"Tony, have you ever thought about what you might become in the future?"

Ignoring Tony's joke, Luo Mang asked casually while steering, as if it was an offhand question.

"Oh, I imagine living in a dream, drunk on countless dollars."

Tony shrugged, responding nonchalantly.

"What if someone wants to take away everything you've worked hard to build?"

"Then I'll make them pay."

Tony's tone was calm, as if this was his truest self.

Through the rearview mirror, Luo Mang looked at Tony and found Tony looking back at him. Luo Mang couldn't help but smile.

"Then we're quite alike."

A curve, sunlight streamed through the car window. Though warm, it was somewhat glaring.

......

"I hereby announce the immediate closure of the Stark International Weapons Production Division!"

Tony, dressed in a black suit, spoke these words under the gaze of countless eyes. Among the crowd, Tony could always spot Luo Mang's figure. Perhaps due to their earlier conversation, Tony now most desired Luo Mang's support. Seeing Luo Mang smile at him, Tony felt inexplicably relieved.

"Hello, I'm Phil Coulson from the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division. Regarding the details of Tony Stark's rescue, I'd like you to answer a few questions."

As soon as Luo Mang entered Stark Industries, he felt someone watching him. He didn't expect Coulson, the old good guy, to hold back until now.

"I think you can ask Tony for the specific details, not me."

Luo Mang turned to look at Coulson, speaking politely, then turned and left without looking back.

"Coulson, how is it?"

Coulson watched Luo Mang walk away, and a stern voice came through his earpiece.

"Very dangerous, sir. Although he kept smiling, I instinctively wanted to avoid his gaze."

Nick Fury frowned slightly at these words.

"Luo Mang's file is very clean, but eyes don't lie, no matter how deeply someone hides! Coulson, temporarily classify Luo Mang's threat level as high. Keep an eye on his interactions with Stark."

"Understood, sir!"

Coulson lowered his right hand from the earpiece, but as soon as he turned, his pupils contracted sharply!

"Sorry, am I interrupting?"

Seeing Luo Mang smiling at him, Coulson broke out in a cold sweat. When did Luo Mang get behind him, and why hadn't he noticed?

"No... no problem."

Coulson forced a smile. Though he still wore the image of a good guy, his heart was in turmoil. To Coulson, Luo Mang's smile was almost like a devil's grin.

"Don't follow me, I'm considering your safety."

Having reached this point, Luo Mang saw no need to hide. His emerald green eyes fixed on Coulson. Luo Mang didn't care if Coulson was a good guy or not; in short, anyone in his way would die! If Coulson sought his own death, then even if Luo Mang killed him, it would be unavoidable, right?

"Understood."

After a brief mental blank, Coulson recalled the basic qualities of an agent.

"Oh, by the way, respond quickly. I don't want to be inexplicably treated as a criminal."

Before leaving, Luo Mang touched his right ear in front of Coulson, and then he truly left.

"Coulson! Coulson! Respond quickly!"

It wasn't until his body relaxed from its tense state that Coulson heard Nick Fury's voice.

"Sir..."

Coulson swallowed hard.

"I think... perhaps we should elevate Luo Mang's threat level... to the highest."

There was silence on the other end of the earpiece, followed by one word after a while.

"Approved!"

......

Looking out over the boundless sea. An isolated sea prison.

"Thanks, Pepper."

"You're welcome. You saved Tony, it's what I should do. As I promised before, you'll have Stark's friendship and support. But... I'm a bit curious, what are you going to do at 'the Raft'? You know, it's a sea prison."

"Alright, Pepper, don't ask too much. Luo has some... well, you know, issues of that nature."

Tony's flippant voice came from the video. Watching Tony continuously wink at him, Luo Mang knew Tony was covering for him. But he still rolled his eyes at Tony, thanked him again, and hung up the phone.

Splash—

Luo Mang boarded the famous sea prison. But as soon as he set foot on the island, Luo Mang keenly noticed something unusual. His lizard-like emerald green eyes provided far superior vision than the average person. Slowly looking down, the waters around were filled with poisonous jellyfish. On the high walls around, thirty laser guns were controlled by computers. From the moment he set foot on the island, the scales on Luo Mang's body seemed to encounter a natural enemy, suddenly lying dormant.

"The Raft's Bio-Energy Dampening Field, interesting."

Luo Mang adjusted his glasses and walked into the prison as if no one was there.

"Wow, wow, wow~~ I was wondering when you'd come."

A blond man in a prison guard uniform approached Luo Mang.

"Rackham."

Rackham switched his baton to his left hand, intending to shake hands with Luo Mang.

"Luo Mang."

Luo Mang maintained his usual smile, slightly adjusting his grip. Luo Mang knew that the man before him, who seemed to be just a prison guard, was actually the real overseer of 'the Raft.' A S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, saved by S.H.I.E.L.D., now responsible for overseeing 'the Raft.' Managing, overseeing some dangerous criminals and metahumans. But in reality, this place was Rackham's private domain. From Luo Mang's easy entry, it was clear Tony must have given him quite a few perks.
