Chapter 12 – Fracture in the Wheat Field

Half an hour later.

The bathroom door opened.

Jiang Nan walked out wrapped in a towel, his wet hair hanging over his forehead, softening his usual cold demeanor.

He glanced at the neatly folded clothes and nodded in satisfaction.

This "cleaner" was worth every penny.

After changing into clean clothes, Jiang Nan felt his eyelids growing heavy.

He headed straight to the large bed at the back of the vehicle, lifted the blanket, and slipped inside.

The bed was warm, with a soft, warm body already there.

It was Chen Tong.

She had already changed into her pajamas and was curled up under the covers, warming the bed for him.

As Jiang Nan got in, Chen Tong's body trembled slightly, a mix of nervousness and anticipation.

However, Jiang Nan simply pulled her plump body into his arms like a body pillow.

Finding a comfortable position, he closed his eyes.

There was no romantic prelude, no further action.

A few seconds later, the sound of steady breathing filled the air.

He was too exhausted.

The upcoming battle required him to be in peak condition; he couldn't afford to waste energy on such things.

Chen Tong was momentarily stunned, then wrapped her arms around the young man several years her junior, closing her eyes in peace.

In the living room.

Yu Shishi looked at the large bed, eager to join: "Um... I want to go too..."

"In your dreams!"

Liu Yuqing yanked her back and pressed her onto the sofa.

"Do you think that's a place you can go? That's a special plot trigger point! Do you want to get banned?"

"Be good and squeeze on the sofa with me!"

"Oh..."

Yu Shishi pouted and snuggled into Liu Yuqing's arms.

Inside the vehicle, everything was warm and harmonious.

Meanwhile, deep in the wheat field, the sun shone brightly.

Compared to the paradise inside the RV, this place was a veritable hell.

Eleven survivors who had fled into the depths of the wheat field were now gathered in a circle, engaged in a heated argument.

The Awakening Fruit had become the fuse for their division.

"Wu Hao! What do you mean by this?!"

Yang Wei's face was livid as he pointed at a bespectacled young man opposite him.

"I was the one who led everyone out! I discovered the wheat field safe zone!"

"What gives you the right to seize the captain's position now?!"

"Heh, you led us?"

The young man named Wu Hao sneered, pushing up his glasses.

He was from Li Xin's old circle, a student council officer, and had always looked down on jocks like Yang Wei.

"I admit, you were lucky last night and guessed the right path."

"But so what?"

"This is the apocalypse! Strength speaks!"

Zzzzz!

Wu Hao raised his hand, and several purple lightning bolts suddenly erupted from his palm.

"Survival of the fittest, the strong rule!"

"I awakened a B-Rank combat ability, [Lightning Control]! The most destructive element type!"

"And you, Yang Wei?"

Wu Hao looked at Yang Wei with disdain: "You're just a C-Class [Strength Amplification], at best a brick mover."

He then pointed at Guo Shuai beside Yang Wei.

"And you, Guo Shuai."

"D-Class [Danger Sense]? And your range is only twenty meters?"

"I have eyes! I have ears! What use is your useless ability?"

"By the time you sense danger, the monster would be in your face!"

"And you shamelessly suggest leaving the wheat field! Leaving this safe zone! What an idiot!"

"Wu Hao, you..."

Guo Shuai was flushed with anger but couldn't refute.

Behind Wu Hao, Liang Rui and Wang Jinsheng both wore smug smiles.

Liang Rui held a fireball in her palm, a C-Class Fireball Technique, while Wang Jinsheng...

His arm transformed into several strands of withered straw, twisting nimbly.

C-Class Straw Bind.

"Yang Wei, face reality."

Liang Rui leaned against Wu Hao, mocking: "Following Brother Wu Hao is the only way to eat well. With your little skills, save it."

The situation was one-sided.

Bai Lianhua, who had been clinging to Yang Wei's arm, rolled her eyes and quietly let go.

"Brother Yang Wei... maybe... we should listen to Wu Hao?"

Bai Lianhua said sweetly, "We're all classmates, strength in numbers..."

Yang Wei was incredulous: "Lianhua, you..."

He didn't expect her to stand on the other side too.

"Hmph! If that's the case, we have nothing more to say!"

The last bit of hope in his heart shattered.

He clenched his fists and shouted angrily: "Guo Shuai! We're leaving! I want to see who can't survive after we leave!"

"Fine! Let's go!"

Guo Shuai, also with a fiery spirit, spat harshly: "A bunch of fence-sitters! I really misjudged you all!"

"Let's go! Yang Wei, it's hard to advise a doomed ghost!"

The two turned and walked away, resolutely turning their backs on the group.

Yang Wei looked back at the woman who had been so attentive along the way, giving a bitter smile.

"Bah!"

He spat at Bai Lianhua: "Bitch! Yu Shishi was right last night, you're a damn scourge!"

With that, he and Guo Shuai walked towards the other end of the wheat field without looking back.

"Heh, a couple of fools."

"Leaving a perfectly good wheat field to go elsewhere, truly idiotic."

Wu Hao retracted the lightning, scoffing disdainfully.

And in a corner unnoticed by everyone else.

The "Wang Jinsheng" whose arm had turned into straw was smiling.

As the two left, the swaying wheat field carried their voices to its ears.

Wang Jinsheng watched them intently, eyes fixed on Guo Shuai's figure.

"Hehehe..."

"Run... run..."

He murmured in a voice only he could hear.

"As long as you're in the wheat field... you're my nourishment..."

"No one can escape..."
