Chapter 9 – System, I Report Someone's Cheating!

The four of them split up to take action.

The results were not very optimistic.

Most of the shelves were empty.

Among the remaining items, almost all the food in the food section was expired.

Expired canned goods, expired instant noodles, expired cookies...

"This can still has three months before it expires," Su Qing held up a can.

"Take it," Huang Tang said, "Better expired than starving to death."

The group scoured the area and barely managed to gather about a dozen pounds of edible food.

Cai Lin found some toothpaste, soap, and toilet paper in the toiletries section and packed them all into her backpack.

Jiang Jing'an ran over holding a few pieces of clothing, "Brother Huang Tang, look what I found!"

Huang Tang looked and saw a few sets of normal clothes.

T-shirts, jeans, sportswear.

"Finally, something normal," Cai Lin sighed in relief.

They couldn't keep giving Huang Tang benefits forever!

That lecherous man!

Huang Tang was speechless. Jiang Jing'an, this girl, was quite enthusiastic about finding clothes!

Was she planning something...

Jiang Jing'an thought to herself:

"When the female colleagues at the company wear normal clothes, Brother Huang Tang should only have eyes for me... hehe..."

Leaving the supermarket, the four of them raided the clothing section on the first floor as well.

Huang Tang also grabbed a few pairs of sneakers.

"Where to next?" Cai Lin asked.

Huang Tang looked across the mall.

A three-story building with a sign at the entrance.

[Fuyai District Police Station]

"The police station," he said, "We need weapons."

"Weapons?" Su Qing was stunned, "But aren't the zombies not attacking us?"

"Just because zombies don't attack doesn't mean other players won't," Huang Tang looked at her seriously, "In this game, the most dangerous thing has never been the monsters, but the people."

Su Qing fell silent.

The four of them walked out of the mall.

Zombies continued to wander the streets, but they ignored them, swaggering past.

A zombie almost bumped into Cai Lin, and she instinctively shrank back, but the zombie just brushed past her and continued to stagger forward.

Cai Lin took a deep breath and followed in Huang Tang's footsteps.

The police station's door was wide open.

Inside was a mess, papers scattered everywhere, and a few skeletons in police uniforms lay on the ground.

Huang Tang stepped around the skeletons and headed straight for the equipment room at the back.

The door was locked.

He lifted his foot and kicked it open.

Behind the door was a small room with a few guns hanging on the wall and ammunition in the cabinets.

"Jackpot!" Huang Tang's eyes lit up.

He took inventory.

Five police pistols, six police batons, three riot shields, and several boxes of bullets.

"One for each of you," he handed the pistols to the three women, "Do you know how to use them?"

The three shook their heads.

Huang Tang demonstrated.

Load, aim, fire.

It was his first time handling a real gun, but he was a ten-year veteran of CF!

"Remember, the safety has to be off to fire. Aim at people, not your own."

Cai Lin held the gun, her palms a bit sweaty.

The most dangerous thing she'd ever handled was a box cutter.

Now she was holding a gun.

"Don't be nervous," Huang Tang patted her shoulder, "You'll get used to it with practice."

He stored the remaining guns and ammunition in the System Space and took two riot shields.

Exiting the police station, the four stood at the entrance.

The sunlight was warm on their bodies.

Zombies still wandered the streets, ignoring them.

"Where to next?" Jiang Jing'an asked.

Huang Tang didn't rush to answer but took another look around the police station.

He pushed open an office door and saw a large city map on the wall, marked with various symbols in red and blue pen.

His eyes fell on a location in the East Suburb.

[East Suburb Meat Processing Plant]

"Meat," Huang Tang said, "We're short on meat."

"Short on meat?" Su Qing was puzzled, "Don't we have food? Self-heating hot pots, chocolate, beef jerky..."

"Those are snacks," Huang Tang pointed at the map, "Meat is protein, it's a source of energy. And think about it, how much meat must be in the cold storage of a meat processing plant?"

Cai Lin's eyes lit up, "If it's a large processing plant, there could be dozens or even hundreds of tons of meat in the cold storage."

"Enough to last us for years," Huang Tang smiled, "Let's go to the East Suburb."

The four left the police station and found a pickup truck on the side of the road with its door open and the keys still in the ignition.

Huang Tang tried it, and the engine roared to life.

"Get in!"

The pickup truck drove through the abandoned streets, and the zombies turned their heads at the sound, but upon seeing the people in the truck, they lost interest and continued to wander.

Half an hour later, the East Suburb Meat Processing Plant came into view.

It was a massive factory, covering at least several thousand square meters, with several refrigerated trucks parked at the entrance.

But what caught Huang Tang's eye was the horde of zombies surrounding the factory.

Densely packed, at least two to three hundred of them, completely sealing off the factory.

"This..." Su Qing gasped, "So many?"

Cai Lin frowned, "We can't get in."

Huang Tang was about to speak when he noticed movement on the side of the factory.

A few figures were stealthily approaching, trying various methods to lure the zombies away.

Some were throwing stones, others were setting fire to distant trash cans, and some were deliberately exposing themselves to attract the zombies' pursuit.

But there were too many zombies; even if they lured away a small portion, many more were still blocking the entrance.

"Someone got here first," Huang Tang said.

He parked the car at a distance, and the four of them got out to observe quietly.

It was a team that looked much more professional than the tattooed men.

Eight people, fully equipped, with guns and knives, moving in an orderly manner.

But they were in trouble.

Two bodies lay on the ground, freshly bitten by zombies.

"Damn, this place is impossible to get into!" a bald man cursed.

"Boss, maybe we should give up. We've already lost two brothers," someone advised.

The leader was a lean man wearing glasses, looking scholarly, but his eyes were cold.

He stared at the factory entrance, gritting his teeth, "We can't give up! My talent tells me there's a lot of supplies inside, and a Treasure Chest."

"If we can get in, we'll be set!"

"But these zombies..."

"Think of something," the glasses man interrupted, "Make a bigger commotion, lure as many as you can. The rest, we'll force our way through!"

The group started to get busy, lighting more fires, making noise.

"What should we do?" Jiang Jing'an asked, "Wait for them to lure the zombies away before we go in?"

Huang Tang laughed, "Why wait?"

The three women exchanged glances and quickly followed him.

The four of them walked boldly out of their hiding spot, crossed the open space, and headed for the factory entrance.

The busy players saw them and were initially stunned, then someone exclaimed, "Damn? More people?"

"What are they trying to do? Commit suicide?"

The next moment, they witnessed a scene they would never forget.

Four people, three women and one man, walked straight into the zombie horde.

The zombies turned to look at them, and then... moved aside!

Or rather, didn't react at all!

It was as if they didn't exist!

The four walked through the dense crowd of zombies, reached the factory entrance, pushed open the door, and went inside.

Not a single zombie attacked them.

The eight people outside were all dumbfounded.

"Am I seeing things?" the bald man rubbed his eyes.

"How did they do that?"

"The zombies don't bite them?"

The glasses man's face turned ashen, staring intently at the now-closed door.

"Hacks!" someone screamed, "They're definitely using hacks! Doesn't the system care?!"

"Stop shouting," the glasses man gritted his teeth, "It's useless. But it doesn't matter, they have to come out eventually."

He sneered coldly and waved his hand, "Surround the entrance. When they come out, we'll have a nice chat!"
