Chapter 8 – Steward Wang's "Accidental" Humiliation

The news of Zhang Yang's embarrassing incident quickly spread throughout District D, along with the mishaps of his two followers, becoming the talk of the town over tea and meals.

Initially, everyone just thought they were unlucky. But as the rumor of the "Child of Fortune" spread, the perception changed.

Many began to believe that Zhang Yang and his group had been too overbearing and were now facing karmic retribution.

And the source of all this pointed to the silent and reserved new disciple, Lin Changsheng.

From then on, no one dared to trouble Lin Changsheng.

Some disciples even deliberately avoided his Spirit Field, fearing they might catch some bad luck.

Lin Changsheng was pleased with this outcome. This was exactly the effect he wanted.

Without showing off, he managed to instill fear and respect in everyone.

This was far more sophisticated than if he had personally fought them. After resolving the small issue with Zhang Yang, Lin Changsheng turned his attention to Steward Wang of the External Affairs Hall.

He hadn't forgotten whose handiwork had placed him in this "prime location." A gentleman's revenge may wait ten years, but Lin Changsheng was no gentleman.

He believed in immediate retribution, never delaying it overnight. Of course, the method of revenge required strategy.

Charging in directly was the act of a brute. What he wanted was for the other party to pay the price without even realizing it.

That day, Lin Changsheng went to the External Affairs Hall again. However, he wasn't there for business, but to "watch a show."

He found an inconspicuous corner and quietly observed Steward Wang.

Steward Wang seemed to be in a good mood today. He sipped tea leisurely while handling affairs.

From time to time, disciples approached him with discreet "tributes." He always accepted them with feigned reluctance, then discreetly pocketed them.

His practiced movements clearly indicated he was a habitual offender. Lin Changsheng watched coldly.

He noticed that Steward Wang's cultivation was around the fifth level of Qi Refining.

In the Outer Sect, that was considered decent.

No wonder he dared to extort so fearlessly.

Lin Changsheng's Mind Power extended like invisible tendrils, quietly spreading out.

He didn't act immediately.

He was waiting for the right moment.

A moment that the other party would never forget.

Soon, the opportunity arrived.

A lavishly dressed young man, surrounded by a group of people, walked into the External Affairs Hall.

"Well, if it isn't Senior Brother Zhao? What brings you here?"

Upon seeing the newcomer, Steward Wang immediately put on a fawning smile and eagerly went to greet him.

His obsequious demeanor was a stark contrast to how he had treated Lin Changsheng before.

This Senior Brother Zhao was a prominent figure in the Outer Sect.

It was said that his uncle was a powerful elder in the Inner Sect.

Thus, he always walked with an air of superiority in the Outer Sect.

"Steward Wang, I'm here to get some good Spirit Fields for my new brothers."

Senior Brother Zhao spoke arrogantly, gesturing with his chin to the people behind him.

"No problem, no problem! Leave it to me!"

Steward Wang assured, patting his chest.

"Senior Brother Zhao's brothers naturally deserve the best! You can pick any Spirit Field in District A!"

As he spoke, he took out a large handful of Wood Slips representing the Spirit Fields in District A from under the counter.

It was known that the Spirit Fields in District A were usually reserved for those with exceptional talent or strong backgrounds.

Ordinary disciples didn't even have the right to look at them.

Now, Steward Wang was offering them like Chinese cabbages.

"Hmm, you know your place."

Senior Brother Zhao nodded in satisfaction.

Just as he was about to reach for the Wood Slips.

An accident happened.

The ground beneath Steward Wang's feet suddenly became inexplicably slippery.

He stumbled, losing control and lunging forward.

The large handful of Wood Slips he was holding flew into the air.

Even worse, he fell in the direction of Senior Brother Zhao.

Senior Brother Zhao never expected such a mishap and couldn't react in time.

He only felt a greasy body crash heavily into him.

The two of them rolled into a heap.

And Steward Wang's saliva-covered mouth landed squarely on Senior Brother Zhao's face.

The entire hall fell silent.

Everyone stared in shock at this scandalous scene.

Senior Brother Zhao's face turned green.

He could feel the wet, slimy sensation on his face.

A wave of nausea surged to the top of his skull.

"Get off!"

He roared, kicking Steward Wang off him.

Steward Wang rolled several times on the ground, crashing into a table before stopping, grimacing in pain.

But he couldn't care about the pain.

He looked at the livid Senior Brother Zhao in terror, almost scared out of his wits.

"Senior... Senior Brother Zhao, it's a misunderstanding, it's a misunderstanding!"

He crawled to Senior Brother Zhao's feet, kowtowing frantically.

"I didn't mean it, the floor was too slippery, I don't know what happened..."

"Slippery floor?"

Senior Brother Zhao's eyes were icy, as if he wanted to eat someone.

He stomped on Steward Wang's face, grinding it forcefully.

"You think I'm an idiot?

You dog, how dare you humiliate me in public! You're tired of living!"

The more Senior Brother Zhao spoke, the angrier he became, and he started beating Steward Wang.

Steward Wang's screams echoed throughout the External Affairs Hall.

Everyone around, whether disciples or managers, was too frightened to intervene.

In the corner, Lin Changsheng withdrew his Mind Power, hiding his achievements and reputation.

He looked at the beaten Steward Wang, feeling no sympathy. This was karma.

He turned and quietly left the External Affairs Hall. Behind him, the faint sound of Steward Wang's pig-like squeals could still be heard.

From today on, Steward Wang's good days were over.

Having offended Senior Brother Zhao, even if he survived, he would be skinned alive.

This cushy job at the External Affairs Hall was definitely lost.

Lin Changsheng felt elated.

Once again, he experienced the joy of using brains and strength to outsmart others.

This kind of revenge, free from cause and effect, untouched by dust, was perfect for someone like him who followed the "path of stealth."

He decided to carry forward this fine tradition in the future.
