Chapter 13 – Phantom Steps and Wind Shadow Blade

In the vast hall,

Beads of sweat dripped from the foreheads of the students, their expressions focused.

Wan Keshan moved among the students, occasionally offering guidance.

An hour passed, and all the students gradually completed the final movement, collapsing onto the ground.

Li Qingshan wiped the sweat from his forehead, his stomach growling, wishing he could devour a whole cow right then.

Looking around, the other students were in a similar state, their eyes gleaming with hunger.

It can be hard to make great work when its stolen from "pawread.com".

Except for Yu Lei and Hong Qian.

Although both were also drenched in sweat, they were in noticeably better condition.

"Having money is indeed powerful, drinking nutrient solution first thing in the morning."

Li Qingshan suppressed his envy, quietly averting his gaze.

He couldn't afford to drink nutrient solution like a beverage; every bottle had to be carefully budgeted.

For now, the most cost-effective method was to drink a bottle each day and train until the effects were exhausted.

Wan Keshan surveyed the room, taking in everyone's condition, and reminded them:

"Since you've joined the Martial Arts Class, you can't skimp on nutrient solution expenses."

"Each of you should act according to your own circumstances."

However, not many paid attention to his words.

Most of the students were staring at the hall's entrance, their eyes glazed over.

Wan Keshan shook his head helplessly and waved his hand:

"Alright, go eat!"

"Long live the teacher!"

Cheers erupted,

The students rushed out of the Martial Arts Hall like a pack of hungry wolves, heading for the cafeteria.

It wasn't even lunchtime yet, so the cafeteria was quite empty.

Everyone quickly got their meals and began to devour them ravenously.

After finishing his meal, Li Qingshan left the cafeteria. As he approached the Martial Arts Hall, he turned and headed towards a nearby office building.

This building was the dedicated office for martial arts teachers.

Knock, knock, knock!

"The door's unlocked, come in!"

Wan Keshan was organizing some files. Seeing Li Qingshan enter, he raised an eyebrow and smiled.

"What a coincidence, I was just about to look for you, and here you are."

"Looking for me?" Li Qingshan was taken aback.

"My matter isn't urgent; we can talk about it later." Wan Keshan waved his hand and looked at Li Qingshan.

"First, tell me why you're here."

After a brief consideration, Li Qingshan spoke:

"Teacher, I wanted to ask how I could kill that Langdu if I encountered it alone outside the school?"

He had died over a hundred times last night,

Not to mention counterattacking Langdu, he hadn't even managed to block its second attack once.

Currently, the best option was to consult a "professional."

"Still thinking about that Langdu?"

Wan Keshan exclaimed in surprise, scrutinizing the student before him.

Is the sense of crisis among students this strong now?

That Langdu was already gutted yesterday, and yet it's not over?

"Just hypothetically, I mean hypothetically." Li Qingshan said sheepishly.

"Alright, hypothetically!"

Wan Keshan didn't dismiss Li Qingshan's assumption; instead, he smiled casually.

"This question is actually quite simple; this will solve it."

As he spoke, Wan Keshan opened a drawer, pulled out a silver handgun, and tossed it onto the table.

"Wuying-17, a standard laser handgun. As long as Langdu isn't within 20 meters, you can react in time and shoot it in the head."

"A laser gun?"

Li Qingshan was dumbfounded,

He never expected a martial arts teacher to provide such an answer.

"This is the interstellar era; don't be so rigid in your thinking!" Wan Keshan said earnestly,

"Whether it's a machete or a laser gun, they're all weapons. As long as they're effective, that's what matters."

"The teacher is right; I've learned a lot."

Li Qingshan nodded heavily, his eyes fixed on the laser gun, full of anticipation:

"Teacher, can I pick it up and have a look?"

"Go ahead." Wan Keshan waved his hand.

With Wan Keshan's permission, Li Qingshan eagerly picked up the gun, examining it carefully.

After a while, he gripped the handle with his right hand, closed his eyes, seemingly imagining the feeling of firing it.

"Do you like it?" Wan Keshan showed a proud smile,

"Once you reach Body Refinement 3rd Stage, you can apply for a gun license. If you're the first to reach Body Refinement 3rd Stage, I'll give you this gun."

To Li Qingshan, the power of a laser gun far surpassed that of a machete.

But for him, even throwing a stone casually had more power than a handgun.

Using it to motivate students was a good choice.

Just as Wan Keshan was feeling pleased,

"Thank you, teacher!"

Li Qingshan opened his eyes, his gaze calm, and placed the laser gun back on the table without hesitation.

Hmm?

Wan Keshan was puzzled,

Just a moment ago, he couldn't put it down, but now he discarded it like it was nothing?

Opposite him,

Li Qingshan's expression remained unchanged, but he felt helpless inside.

Both the machete and the laser gun were weapons, but the Martial Arts Space didn't recognize them!

He had just entered barehanded and was immediately bitten by Langdu.

After pondering for a while, Li Qingshan had to speak again.

"The teacher just said that you need to reach Body Refinement 3rd Stage to apply for a gun license, which means that in my current state, if I encounter Langdu, I can't use a laser gun to kill it."

"Langdu's maximum burst speed is close to 50 meters per second, and even a casual strike exceeds one meter."

Wan Keshan's smile faded, his gaze serious.

"You're at Body Refinement 1st Stage, and you want to win without a gun?"

"I do!" Li Qingshan nodded without hesitation.

"Alright, then I'll tell you how!"

Wan Keshan lowered his head, his fingers sliding over the communicator.

Buzz, buzz!

His wrist vibrated,

Li Qingshan looked at the communicator; it was a new email, sent by Wan Keshan across from him.

Opening the email, two compressed files appeared.

"Phantom Step" and "Wind Shadow Blade"

"These two basic martial techniques were originally planned to be taught to you next semester, but I'm giving them to you now."

Wan Keshan's voice rang out, and Li Qingshan's expression brightened.

"Teacher, if I learn these two martial techniques, can I kill Langdu on my own?"

"It's not that simple." Wan Keshan's mouth twitched,

"The Stars Are Calling has four realms, but martial techniques have five levels!"

"Beginner, Proficient, Mastery, Great Achievement, Perfection!"

"To kill Langdu at Body Refinement 1st Stage, you need to at least practice 'Phantom Step' to the fourth level, Great Achievement!"

The division of martial technique levels was the same as the levels on the panel.

A thought flashed through Li Qingshan's mind, and he realized Wan Keshan hadn't mentioned "Wind Shadow Blade."

"Teacher, do I only need to practice 'Phantom Step'?"

"Surviving is the first step to dealing damage."

Wan Keshan tapped the table lightly, his gaze profound.

"Facing an opponent like Langdu, which surpasses you in both strength and speed, movement techniques are your only chance."

"'Phantom Step' excels in maneuvering during combat."

"If you can reach the Great Achievement level, even at Body Refinement 1st Stage, you can dodge Langdu's attacks."

"By then, it will be a lamb to the slaughter."

Li Qingshan felt enlightened, thanking Wan Keshan,

"Thank you, teacher, I understand now."

"You understand nothing!"

Wan Keshan laughed and scolded, looking a bit helpless.

"What I just gave you was a theoretically feasible method based on your hypothesis."

"Even though 'Phantom Step' is a basic movement technique, reaching Great Achievement takes at least two years."

"Two years?" Li Qingshan mused,

Wan Keshan's two years were calculated based on a normal person's training progress.

But he was different,

"Phantom Step" is a movement technique, as long as he can move his feet, he can improve his proficiency.

Even with Langdu lurking in the Martial Arts Space, he could start practicing immediately.

At most, he'd just die a few more times in the beginning.

Without rest, practicing "Phantom Step" 24 hours a day, his progress would surely be astonishing.
