Chapter 7 – Rabbit Demon in distress, hunter is coming

The big white rabbit rolled on the ground a few times before getting up, nodding at Mo Fan. Then, its rabbit head shook, and in an instant, it transformed into the face of a woman.

It really was a demon!

Mo Fan was pleasantly surprised, and at the same time, he noticed that this rabbit demon was exceptionally beautiful.

Setting aside the rabbit's body, just that face alone could be considered a great beauty.

Her chubby little cheeks had a pair of big, watery eyes, with scarlet pupils like two red rubies. Her skin was as white as jade, and beneath her high, elegant nose was a small cherry-like mouth. Her snow-white long hair was draped messily over her head, adding a bit of charm, and a pair of snow-white rabbit ears stood atop her head, not appearing out of place but rather adding a touch of cuteness.

"What a lovely female demon!"

Mo Fan marveled inwardly, and then he heard the rabbit demon say to him, "Lord Toad, please save me, humans are hunting me!"

Humans?

Mo Fan was startled upon hearing this and quickly asked, "What kind of humans, and where?"

Right now, he was most afraid of those self-righteous humans who were completely unreasonable, especially the female immortals from that mountain sect, who were as vicious as scorpions and snakes, capturing him to refine pills at first sight, which was terrifying.

Hearing that humans were chasing after her made him even more alarmed.

"It's an old hunter, he's been chasing me across several mountain peaks, and he should be here soon. Please, Lord Toad, you must save me!" the rabbit demon pleaded.

A hunter?

Mo Fan frowned slightly and asked again, "Are you sure it's just an ordinary hunter and not an immortal who knows magical abilities?"

His words made the rabbit demon pause, and then she smiled bitterly, "Lord Toad, you must be joking. Where would there be immortals in our area? It's just an ordinary hunter, not even a village guardian or demon catcher."

"Just an ordinary person, and you're this panicked? You're a demon, aren't you afraid of ordinary people?" Mo Fan looked skeptical.

"Lord Toad, you don't understand the plight of us minor demons. I just recently transformed, and apart from refining the bone in my throat to speak human language and forming a human head, I have no other abilities, so I'm no match for that old hunter."

"He has a refined iron spear that can hunt tigers and leopards, and a bow and arrows for hunting eagles, which is quite frightening," the rabbit demon said with a bitter face.

Hearing this, Mo Fan understood one thing: not all demons awaken innate divine abilities during their transformation!

This little rabbit demon was a perfect example.

What frustrated him was that this dignified demon could actually be hunted by humans, which made her quite the weirdo among the demon clan.

"Lord Toad, I beg you to save my life for the sake of our kinship. I will offer you a True Fruit Spirit Herb as a token of gratitude for saving my life!"

Seeing Mo Fan remain silent, the rabbit demon immediately imitated a human bowing gesture and repeatedly pleaded with him.

Mo Fan didn't rush to answer but instead turned his gaze and asked the little rabbit demon again, "I see that you're quite clever and seem to know a lot. Do you know if there are other demon kin in our mountain range?"

"Of course I... Oh no, the old hunter is coming!"

The rabbit demon was about to answer when her expression suddenly changed. She raised her front paw and pointed into the distance with a cry of alarm.

Mo Fan followed her gaze and indeed saw an old man with white hair and dressed in animal skins emerging from the forest a hundred yards away.

The old man had a long spear strapped to his back, a large bow slung over his shoulder, and a quiver full of arrows at his waist, making him look extremely formidable.

Despite his age, the old man moved with the speed of the wind, walking swiftly like a mountain ape, quickly approaching the small hill.

"This damn well isn't an ordinary hunter?"

Mo Fan's eyes widened, and his eyelids twitched. The old man's speed was too fast!

He was probably even faster than Mo Fan himself, only Erha, that dumb tiger, could outpace him.

"Lord Toad, save me!!"

The rabbit demon looked pitifully at Mo Fan, her big eyes already teary, with a look that would make anyone feel sorry for her.

"Get lost, who said we're kin?

You're a rabbit, I'm a toad, our ancestors don't even connect in eight generations, why are you trying to claim kinship?

I didn't expect you to be such a rabbit, bringing such a dangerous hunter into Grandpa Mo's territory, are you trying to harm me?"

Mo Fan scolded the rabbit demon, then turned and sprinted away, cursing as he went, "Trying to harm your Grandpa Mo? Not a chance!"

The rabbit demon was dumbfounded. She didn't expect this Lord Toad to run faster than she did, and seeing his human-like running posture, he truly was a great demon!

Seeing this, the rabbit demon chased after him, explaining, "Lord Toad, you've misunderstood. When I said kin, I meant we're both part of the demon clan, and we should help each other!"

"Why are you following me? Get as far away as you can, don't drag me down!"

Mo Fan looked back and saw the rabbit demon was relentlessly chasing him, which almost made him curse out loud.

If it were really just an ordinary person hunting this rabbit demon, he wouldn't be afraid, but that old man looked quite extraordinary, so why should he save her?

He might end up losing his own life!

A losing deal was not something Mo Fan was willing to do.

"Lord Toad, don't you want to know the whereabouts of our other kin? If you save me, I'll naturally tell you!" the rabbit demon persisted, revealing part of the information.

She did know the whereabouts of other demons.

Mo Fan's heart was moved upon hearing this, but thinking of that terrifying old hunter, he shook his head again and cursed, "I told you, stop following me!"

Whoosh—

Just then, a whistling sound came, followed by a scream from behind.

Mo Fan's heart skipped a beat, realizing that the rabbit demon might have been hit, and his fear intensified. But before he could run a few more steps, a second whistling sound made the back of his head go cold.

A sudden sense of danger overwhelmed him, and without thinking, Mo Fan rolled on the ground like a toad to dodge.

Thud!

An arrow whizzed over Mo Fan's head and lodged into a large tree not far ahead.

Staring at the arrow in the tree trunk, Mo Fan's face turned pale with fright, and he instinctively touched his head, relieved to find no wounds.

"Hahaha... It seems old man luck is on my side today, I've found two little demons!"

At that moment, a hearty laugh came from afar.

Mo Fan turned to see that the old hunter had already arrived nearby, holding a large bow with two arrows nocked, aiming directly at them.

"This time it's worth it. No wonder I, old man, ventured deep into the Demon Spirit Mountain Range. Once I capture you, I can sell you for a good price and buy a few more pounds of Bone-Forging Wine!"

The old hunter laughed as he approached, walking straight toward the rabbit demon while keeping his eyes locked on Mo Fan, warning, "Toad demon, I advise you not to move, or the arrows in my hand won't have eyes!

Although dead demons are worth less, they can still fetch some wine money."
