Chapter 9 – Kill the Old Hunter, drink the Bone-Forging Wine

A tiger's roar deafened the Old Hunter instantly, leaving his head in a daze.

A white tiger with piercing eyes leaped out from the darkness, knocking the Old Hunter to the ground in an instant, its jaws aiming for his neck.

The sudden attack left the Old Hunter flustered. His spear slipped from his grasp, and he had no choice but to grab the tiger's neck with both hands, using all his strength to push it away, not daring to let those bloodthirsty jaws close in.

"You beast, I've hunted tigers like you before. How could I fall to a creature like you?

Get off me!"

The Old Hunter roared, his voice as loud as a bell, not at all inferior to the tiger's roar.

In his fury, he somehow found the strength to throw Erha off him. He quickly flipped over and sat on Erha, raising his fists to strike.

"Once I kill you, I'll go after that little beast!"

The Old Hunter panted heavily, his eyes wide with rage, pouring all his anger into his fists, each punch heavier than the last, making Erha howl in pain.

"Sorry, but you won't get the chance!"

Suddenly, a cold voice sounded from behind the Old Hunter, followed by a "pfft" sound.

The Old Hunter's body trembled, his raised right fist dropping instantly. He looked down at his chest to see the tip of a spear protruding.

The spear tip was familiar; it was one of the tools he used for hunting beasts.

The Old Hunter never imagined that after a lifetime of hunting, he would die by his own spear.

"Calling us beasts, what does that make you humans? I've had enough of you!"

Mo Fan spoke angrily from behind the Old Hunter, then opened his massive jaws, revealing razor-sharp fangs, and bit off the Old Hunter's head!

"You're nothing more than food for me. How noble can you be?"

Mo Fan's face was grim as he chewed, blood and flesh dripping from his teeth.

At this moment, he truly resembled a demon, a real man-eating demon!

Although this was Mo Fan's first time killing a human, he felt no guilt, for this person deserved to die!

Those who wish to kill me, I can kill them too!

This was Mo Fan's philosophy. In this life, he was no longer human, so he was free from human morals and ethics. Though it seemed savage and brutal, wasn't it a form of freedom?

Mo Fan didn't leave the Old Hunter's body behind. He and Erha feasted on it.

However, after eating the Old Hunter, Mo Fan vomited for a long time.

Though he had the body of a demon, he was still human inside.

"Damn, I'm not used to eating humans yet. Maybe I'll get used to it after a few more times?"

Mo Fan muttered to himself, then turned to the bruised and battered Erha, kicking and scolding him, "Useless thing, the king of the forest almost got killed by this old man. What good are you?"

"Roar—"

Erha growled in dissatisfaction, then turned his gaze to the big white rabbit nearby, unconsciously licking his lips.

"Don't even think about it. That's a demon, higher level than you. You dare eat it?"

"Besides, it's useful to me. If you dare eat it, I'll cook you in a pot!"

Seeing Mo Fan's fierce expression, Erha, though tempted by the big white rabbit, dared not act rashly and lay down again, dozing off out of boredom.

As the king of the surrounding twenty miles, Erha's life was simple and unadorned, mostly spent in sleep, only going out to hunt when hungry.

But since Mo Fan arrived, Erha had less time to laze around, so he took the opportunity to rest whenever he could.

Mo Fan ignored the creature and began sorting his spoils.

A nearly ten-foot-long iron spear, a horned bow, and several arrows.

Additionally, Mo Fan found several copper coins, some broken silver, a small porcelain bottle he had seen before, and half a gourd of wine in the Old Hunter's bag.

"There's even wine?"

The aroma of the wine instantly lifted Mo Fan's spirits, and he poured it directly into his mouth.

He hadn't tasted wine in a long time and missed it dearly.

The wine was smooth and mellow, not harsh on the throat. As soon as it entered his stomach, Mo Fan felt a warmth spreading through his body, circulating through his limbs.

This didn't seem like ordinary wine!

"Could this be the Bone-Forging Wine the old man mentioned?"

Mo Fan's heart stirred. Knowing it was something good, he drank it all in one go.

After finishing the half-gourd of Bone-Forging Wine, Mo Fan felt power surging within him, a stream of heat coursing through his body.

This heat was somewhat like the power he gained from consuming Spirit Fruits, though not as intense. After rampaging inside him for a while, it gradually dissipated.

This left Mo Fan somewhat regretful.

Under the nourishment of the Bone-Forging Wine's power, Mo Fan clearly felt his strength increase significantly, even his physique seemed to have improved.

But there wasn't enough Bone-Forging Wine to truly transform him.

He thought if he had three more gourds of Bone-Forging Wine, he might be able to undergo a second Demon Transformation.

Mo Fan could only dream about it. He smiled wryly and turned his attention to the Rabbit Demon, asking, "Are you okay?"

"I'm... I'm fine, just feeling weak in the legs, can't stand up."

The Rabbit Demon spoke, then gratefully said to Mo Fan, "Lord Toad, you're amazing. Not only did you kill that human hunter, but you also subdued such a fierce tiger. Thank you so much!"

"Thank me? If you weren't useful, I'd have eaten you by now!"

Mo Fan pursed his lips, genuinely frustrated.

He was about to enjoy a nice roast on the hill when this Rabbit Demon ruined it, forcing him into a life-and-death battle.

If the rabbit hadn't seemed so naive and innocent, Mo Fan might have added rabbit meat to his menu today.

"Don't worry, Lord Toad. Since you saved me, I'll definitely repay you."

The Rabbit Demon spoke softly, sincerely.

"Repay me? With what? Your body?"

Mo Fan rolled his eyes, then looked down at his crotch, realizing something was missing, and sighed helplessly.

What bothered Mo Fan most about the toad body wasn't its ugly appearance, but the lack of that crucial piece...

But he understood that toads were different from most creatures, and it was normal not to have it. Even if he did, could Mo Fan really indulge among a group of toads?

The thought of mating with a bumpy toad made Mo Fan shudder. It was terrifying...

He only hoped that once he fully transformed, he could regain that piece, so he wouldn't waste his life as a demon. As for finding a demon wife, that was a matter for the future. Why worry about it now?

"What does 'with your body' mean?" the Rabbit Demon asked, confused.

Hearing this, Mo Fan instinctively glanced at the Rabbit Demon's crotch, seeing the furry thing, and could only sigh, shaking his head, "Nothing. You mentioned knowing about other demons nearby? Can you tell me?"

"I don't know about other scattered demons, but fifty miles south of here is Black Wind Mountain, where many demons are said to live," the Rabbit Demon said weakly.

Black Wind Mountain?

Mo Fan's interest piqued, and he quickly asked, "Do you know if there are any powerful demons on Black Wind Mountain?"

"I'm not sure, but if you want to go to Black Wind Mountain, I can take you there."

"That's what I wanted to hear!"

Mo Fan clapped his hands, then kicked the snoring Erha, "Erha, get up and get to work!"
