Chapter 37 – Qi

The Carefree Silver Dragon Token is made from special materials, with its main secret lying in the ability to inscribe a name using Shattering Stage Dragon Blood to officially activate it. However, this material is notably lacking in durability, and with the power of the Second Elder of the Sect, it can be easily shattered.

Seeing the Second Elder's arrogant and domineering attitude, Luo Lie found him both pitiful and detestable.

He thought himself so remarkable, yet he was like a frog at the bottom of a well, not even recognizing the Carefree Silver Dragon Token. No wonder Xue Bingning had said that even the Council of Elders might not know about it.

This revealed the true nature of the Council of Elders.

"You will bring disaster upon your master."

Luo Lie did not resist, nor was there a need to resist, as some people were simply courting death.

The Second Elder's face twisted. Though he served the Chong family like a dog, he hated it when others pointed it out, and said viciously, "You little brat, you'll soon know the consequences of provoking this elder. I guarantee you'll regret it."

"Let's see who regrets it," Luo Lie retorted mockingly.

"Take him away!" the Second Elder ordered coldly.

About twenty guards from the Council of Elders escorted Luo Lie.

The Second Elder then turned to Xue Bingning with a cold smile, "You must be eager to see the Monarch now. Go ahead, the sooner the better."

Without caring for Xue Bingning's reaction, he left with a sinister smile.

Xue Bingning frowned slightly. Having accompanied Liu Hongyan for many years, she was accustomed to deceit and knew that since the Chong family had acted, it would be with overwhelming force, leaving no chance for Luo Lie to recover, and possibly even using the opportunity to severely harm Liu Hongyan or worse, to plot rebellion and usurpation.

Calmly, she did not immediately seek out Liu Hongyan but instead picked up the shattered Carefree Silver Dragon Token and returned to the Carefree Pavilion.

Although Luo Lie had been falsely accused, his identity was ultimately very sensitive.

The first Twin King in the history of the Northern Waters Kingdom.

The identity of King Nanli, to be honest, had little impact on the Council of Elders.

But the identity of the Overlord was too conspicuous, equivalent to a second monarch. If the Council of Elders could alter the Monarch's orders, then the Overlord had the authority to change the Council's orders.

Thus, the Second Elder wanted to treat Luo Lie harshly but had to restrain himself, at least outwardly.

So, Luo Lie followed them without anyone pushing or shoving him.

The journey was smooth and unimpeded.

Not even a single person from Monarch Liu Hongyan's side appeared.

This made Luo Lie realize something was amiss.

"Could it be that as soon as I left the palace, the Chong family started to act?"

He was somewhat worried about Liu Hongyan.

However, thinking about the palace, besides the mysterious top expert of the Northern Waters Kingdom, there were also Qin Zhi and Yao Feng, so it shouldn't be too dangerous.

With these thoughts, the guards stopped.

Luo Lie looked up, his expression changing slightly.

This place was actually under the control of the Council of Elders... the Beast Refining Hell! The Northern Waters Kingdom had many prisons, but the most formidable and vicious was the Beast Refining Hell. Typically, only those guilty of treason were sent to this hell.

The horror of the Beast Refining Hell was not in the physical torment, as one could simply commit suicide, but in the fact that after death, the body would be frozen and preserved, used to refine into automatons. Once the automaton was damaged beyond repair, it would be fed to demonic beasts, ensuring no peace even in death, with the body desecrated.

"I want to ask you a question," Luo Lie said to the Second Elder.

"Speak!" The Second Elder had the demeanor of a victor.

Luo Lie said, "I don't know your name, but I know you're a royal relative, someone who should be the Monarch's most trusted. Why serve as a dog for the rebellious Chong family?"

A cold glint flashed in the Second Elder's eyes as he stared at Luo Lie with a bone-chilling voice, "This is the second time you've called me a dog. I told you, you'll regret it."

"I just want to know the answer," Luo Lie said calmly.

"There is no answer. This elder does whatever he wants," the Second Elder said, his face darkening.

Luo Lie shook his head, "Some people would rather be dogs than humans."

The Second Elder's eye twitched, and he said sinisterly, "The Beast Refining Hell, discovered by the Overlord himself, is so cold it can freeze your body into an ice sculpture, while your consciousness remains. You'll feel your organs freezing bit by bit, dying slowly. The taste of death approaching will be quite enjoyable."

Luo Lie remained silent, having heard of the horrors of the Beast Refining Hell.

"This elder knows your strength is not ordinary, having passed the Overlord's Trial. Who knows what abilities you might have to resist, so this elder will temporarily make you an ordinary person to enjoy the Beast Refining Hell," the Second Elder sneered. "Place the Qi-Sealing Curse on him!"

The Qi-Sealing Curse was a spell that restricted the flow of qi within the body.

A guard took out the Divine Master's Brush, revealing himself to be a Divine Master in disguise.

Luo Lie raised an eyebrow, restraining himself from acting. He knew that if he acted, the Second Elder would have an excuse to attack him, possibly killing him, so he had to endure for now.

The Divine Master cast the Qi-Sealing Curse, and a beam of light from the Divine Master's Brush entered Luo Lie's body.

The beam acted like a lock, sealing his qi, preventing it from circulating.

The Second Elder laughed, "Go enjoy the Beast Refining Hell."

The door to the Beast Refining Hell opened, and a bone-chilling cold swept out, causing even the guards to instinctively step back.

Luo Lie couldn't help but shiver.

Here, being immune to heat and cold was useless, as the cold was unnatural, seemingly sentient, penetrating the skin, burrowing into the bones and organs, truly terrifying.

But Luo Lie, having cultivated the Celestial Dragon-Elephant Scripture, had an extraordinary physique. Though he felt cold, he wasn't completely defenseless.

Without needing anyone to push him, Luo Lie walked in voluntarily.

His steady steps, indifferent to the cold, made the Second Elder's smile stiffen. He could see that Luo Lie wasn't using qi, as it was indeed sealed.

Clang! As Luo Lie entered, the door closed.

Only then did the outside temperature begin to rise, with some guards still rubbing their hands and stomping their feet.

The Divine Master said, "Second Elder, what if Luo Lie can't resist and commits suicide? That would be too easy for him."

"With such high martial potential, would he willingly die? Besides, he's waiting for the Monarch to rescue him. He'll definitely hold on," the Second Elder sneered. "The more he holds on, the more painful it will be, worse than death."

The Divine Master laughed, "Second Elder, you're brilliant."

They didn't leave, staying there to guard, while the original guards were dismissed.

Inside the Beast Refining Hell, Luo Lie stood calmly behind the door. Since the door was specially made, it was difficult to hear sounds from either side, but he knew that to prevent his escape or rescue, the Second Elder would surely be guarding outside.

"Used to being a dog, then keep watching the door for me," Luo Lie muttered, stretching his body and leaning against the door. He could endure without using qi, but going further inside was absolutely out of the question.

The Beast Refining Hell was like a cave, extending far inside. Typically, those above the Yin-Yang Realm sent into the Beast Refining Hell were placed over twenty meters deep and chained to a spot, unable to reach the relatively bearable area behind the door. Now, Luo Lie saw some chains ahead, stained red with blood.

These chains were empty, not restraining anyone.

Currently, Luo Lie was the only one in the Beast Refining Hell.

As someone in the Body Refining Realm, it was generally difficult to endure even at the entrance, so there was no need to restrain anyone, as long as they didn't leave.

Luo Lie thought for a moment and extended his left hand.

The Left Hand of the Sacred Ancestor could nullify all Divine Master spells.

The Qi-Sealing Curse wasn't particularly advanced, and the Divine Master who cast it wasn't exceptionally powerful.

When the Divine Master was about to cast the Qi-Sealing Curse, Luo Lie had already channeled some qi into his left hand. Although the Qi-Sealing Curse could force all qi into the dantian, it couldn't touch Luo Lie's left hand. Therefore, he could still activate the Left Hand of the Sacred Ancestor, placing it over his dantian, and with a gentle grasp and pull, the binding symbolizing the Qi-Sealing Curse shattered.

Luo Lie's qi became active once more.
