Chapter 6 – The Notice Board in the Plaza

The Real World.

The Unmentionable power had already begun to invade other countries. In hospitals everywhere, patients were dying inexplicably in their beds.

People all over the world were in immense misery.

Now, everyone's eyes were fixed on the challenger from the Dragon Nation—Gu Yi.

If Gu Yi could achieve a perfect clear, then not only in the Dragon Nation, but all Strange Tales Hospitals across the globe would vanish simultaneously.

On the live broadcast screen.

Gu Yi was burying his head in his food, while the patient next to him was on the verge of suffocating.

"Why isn't Gu Yi saving him?"

"The Cafeteria rules don't allow you to move around freely."

"But didn't the back of the note say you can't just stand by and watch someone die?"

"This is making me so mad. He should just die already, let the whole world be destroyed."

The comments section erupted into a heated argument, and the Dragon Nation's Expert Group was also in a tense discussion.

"This is an almost impossible situation. We don't know where the line is for 'making a loud noise.' Would creating a different kind of noise to attract a doctor work?"

"That's too risky. Gu Yi has already broken a rule once. If he does it again, he'll face a penalty."

"It's fine. I'm guessing Gu Yi has already found the correct solution."

In the video.

Gu Yi rapidly finished all his food. He walked up behind a doctor, tapped him on the shoulder, then stood discreetly to the side.

The doctor noticed the collapsed patient and immediately hoisted him up, heading for the Emergency Room.

"Why didn't he just call the doctor directly?"

"People like you deserve to die. You wouldn't last a minute in the Weird World."

"How about you remember the Cafeteria's dining rules before you open your mouth?"

The Dragon Nation experts ignored the bickering in the comments, carefully analyzing Gu Yi's every move.

"He's truly so calm, and his thinking is incredibly sharp."

"He might really be humanity's last hope!"

"I bet he's already figured out the hidden meaning of the note's hint. Otherwise, he wouldn't have found a solution so quickly."

People all over the world stared intently at their screens, their hearts already linked with Gu Yi's.

...

The Weird World.

Of course, Gu Yi had no idea what the people in the real world were discussing. He was simply acting on the conclusion he had reached through his deductions, quickly arriving at the door to the locker room.

During his previous deduction, Gu Yi had discovered an interesting phenomenon.

When a doctor discovered their Beak Mask was stolen, they wouldn't report it to the Security Department right away. Instead, they would first search everywhere for it, even ignoring the rules of the Emergency Manual to barge into the Emergency Room.

This could only mean one thing.

—In the doctors' eyes, being discovered for losing a mask was more terrifying than violating the Emergency Manual.

They didn't dare admit they had lost their masks, so they could only rely on their own efforts to find them.

Therefore, until a doctor found him, he was safe and didn't need to worry about being caught by the Security Department.

As long as he could steal the mask, save the patient, and return the mask to the locker room with maximum speed, he could accomplish his task perfectly.

He had wasted a lot of time in the corridor during his last deduction, but not this time!

Gu Yi moved nimbly into the locker room and, with practiced ease, stole a doctor's uniform and mask. He looked so natural that even a real doctor would have had a hard time telling the difference.

Gu Yi's heart was in his throat, but he walked into the Emergency Room with a calm expression.

The other two emergency doctors glanced at Gu Yi and quickly explained the situation.

"Teacher Gui, this patient suddenly collapsed while eating breakfast. We're preparing to operate on him now..."

Before the doctor could finish, Gu Yi had already completed the surgery. The patient was out of danger in the blink of an eye.

"Damn, what kind of technique is that?"

"Unheard of, unseen."

"Teacher Gui, where are you going?"

Gu Yi had no time for the doctors' flattery; he had to return the mask to the locker room as soon as possible.

The two doctors followed him from behind.

Gu Yi slipped into the locker room, quickly tossed the clothes into the adjacent stall, and randomly opened an empty locker and climbed inside.

In the narrow locker, Gu Yi could only hear his own heartbeat.

"Where's Teacher Gui?"

"Probably went to take a shower?"

"Why is he so unsociable?"

"Forget it, that's just his personality. Don't mind him. Let's get that patient back to his ward."

The two emergency doctors left, shoulder to shoulder.

Leaning inside the locker, Gu Yi let out a long sigh of relief. The black hair on his hand had finally vanished.

At that moment, a notification from the Weird Space sounded in his ear.

"The Adventurer has successfully resolved the fellow patient's crisis and feels pleased. Spirit Power Level has increased. You may choose one of the following two rewards."

"1. You can now recover Spirit Power while awake, at a rate of 10 points per hour."

Find the original at "pawread dot com".

"2. Your Spirit Power Limit increases by 20 points."

Gu Yi thought for a moment and chose the first option without hesitation.

His Spirit Power was currently depleted. If he could only recover it by sleeping, the efficiency would be far too low.

Gu Yi waited until the coast was clear before leaving the doctors' locker room.

When he was saving the patient in the Emergency Room, Gu Yi had torn the tag off Xu Nian's body and stuffed it in his pocket. Only now did he have time to take it out and look.

This time, looking with his naked eye, Gu Yi saw that the tags had all turned into rotting worms.

Overcome with disgust, Gu Yi instinctively threw the worms on the ground and stomped them into a pulp.

—Why did the worms turn into tags with garbled text when I wore the Beak Mask?

Gu Yi found it hard to understand.

He speculated that if he wore other animal masks, he might see a different world and obtain different clues. And these clues were very likely related to the truth behind the hospital!

"It is now 8:00 AM. All patients, please do not linger inside the hospital. Please proceed to the front Plaza for free activities."

The broadcast announcement sounded.

A rush of footsteps came from behind Gu Yi.

The patients swarmed down the stairs. They didn't speak to each other, simply trudging silently toward the main entrance.

Gu Yi didn't dare to be careless and immediately followed the large group.

He worried that even during the free activity period, there might be rules that could not be broken.

Gu Yi arrived at the front Plaza.

A huge sign was placed to the east of the hospital entrance, on which the "Plaza Usage Rules" were written.

【Plaza Usage Rules】

1. The front Plaza is open from 8:00 to 12:00. Entry is prohibited at all other times.

2. You may do anything you wish in the Plaza, but you are not permitted to leave the hospital.

3. There are many recreational activities in the Plaza. You may try them as you please, but the hospital is not responsible for any injuries or deaths that may occur.

4. This hospital does not keep dogs. If you hear barking, please contact the Plaza's Security Department or a doctor in the hospital immediately. You may have been infected.

5. There is a Convenience Store in the southeast corner of the Plaza, but do not attempt to gamble with him, or you will face the consequences.

Below the Plaza Usage Rules, there was another line of bloody text, but this time its content sent a chill down Gu Yi's spine.

"Dogs are @#¥¥% man's friend friend's friend***"

"Peop-peop-peop-le rf humanity xk, humanity ui exists¥****zdde"

"I am not human anymore (crossed out)"

"I am still human! I am human!"
