On the Suspended Island, Earth System ability users known as Survivors have constructed sturdy stone walls around the perimeter, with gates only at the north, south, east, and west.

Since the north faces the incoming Boundary Sea Mist, it will be the first to endure the fiercest attacks from sea monsters and beasts within the mist.

Gu Huan Zhen's plan was to station one-third of the island's Silver, Bronze, and Black Iron Level Survivors at the north gate.
