Chapter 21 – Difficult first step

Although little Newton's sleeping habits were not very good, his snoring was on par with his ears.

But perhaps due to the exhaustion from working all day, Xu Yun eventually fell into a deep sleep.

A night passed without any words.

...............

After an unknown amount of time, the sound of birds suddenly came from outside the window.

Xu Yun lazily opened his eyes, scratched his messy hair, stretched lazily, and yawned, waking up like this.

It was now winter on the British Isles, and the morning air was extremely cold and humid. Xu Yun exhaled, and a white mist quickly appeared in front of him.

Then he suddenly thought of something and turned his head to look to his right.

Little Newton's bed was empty, obviously the old man had already been awake for a while.

The sky was slightly bright at this time, estimated to be around six-thirty or seven in the morning at most.

In Xu Yun's hometown, some night owls who stayed up late to write would just be going to bed at this time.

Then Xu Yun clasped his hands together, took a deep breath in front of his mouth, rubbed his face vigorously, and quickly crawled out of the bed - as the working class knew, if you wanted to crawl out of the seal of the blanket in winter, you had to do it while the blanket wasn't paying attention.

After a simple tidying up of his clothes, Xu Yun gently opened the bedroom door, tilted his head and looked outside.

Sure enough.

At this time, little Newton was sitting at the desk outside, bowing his head, writing quickly, seemingly calculating something.

Hearing the sound of the bedroom door, little Newton looked up and nodded towards the tea table at the entrance:

"The bread is on the table, just one piece. After breakfast, take a break and then go inspect the orchard."

After saying that, little Newton hesitated for a moment and changed his words before Xu Yun could respond:

"Forget it, today is your first day doing this job, I'll take you around the process first, and you can do it on your own starting tomorrow."

Xu Yun nodded:

"Understood, Mr. Isaac."

After saying that, he glanced at little Newton who was still writing with his pen and continued:

"Mr. Isaac, I want to go out and get some water to moisten my throat. I slept all night and my mouth is a bit dry."

This time, little Newton didn't say anything and just made a soft sound of agreement.

With permission granted, a mysterious light flashed in Xu Yun's eyes. He took a wooden cup that he had carved yesterday and walked out of the door.

There was a slightly old water tank on the side of the garden house, which should have been William's work judging by its age. It was out of little Newton's sight behind the window.

Xu Yun leisurely walked to the side of the water tank and scooped up some water with the wooden cup, not minding the cold, and drank it directly.

He gargled with a gurgling sound.

It had to be said that in the time before the 19th century, the mainstream cultural habits of China were much stronger than Europe.

For example, although ancient China did not have toothbrushes, there were many ways to clean oneself.

For example, in the "Book of Rites", there was a record of "gargling when the rooster crows". The commonly used toiletries in ancient China included wine, vinegar, saltwater, and tea.

Among them, wine, vinegar, and saltwater had sterilizing effects, while tea was rich in fluoride.

Fluoride had a certain effect in preventing tooth decay and could also clean the mouth, protecting the teeth.

Later, the well-known toothbrush prototypes such as willow twigs and pig bristles were derived.

But ancient Europe was different, they basically didn't brush their teeth or take baths - especially in England.

Even now, many British people still don't have the habit of brushing their teeth, so oral health in England has always been a big problem.

Of course.

This is mainly related to their political and cultural background, which is not the focus for now.

In short, from the perspective of a modern person, Xu Yun respected some customs that had no impact, but he couldn't tolerate the habit of not brushing teeth or washing face.

Therefore, he could only seize every opportunity to keep his body clean as much as possible.

If there was a chance, it would be necessary to correct little Newton and William's habits as well.

Although there was no direct evidence in the future to show any causal relationship between their lifespan and not bathing or brushing teeth, correcting this habit was beneficial and harmless. If they could live a few more months, it would be a gain, right?

After rinsing his mouth, Xu Yun splashed some cold water on his face.

He patted his face a few times.

The cool feeling soaked into his skin, making him feel much more refreshed.

After finishing his morning routine, Xu Yun didn't rush back, but looked up at the sky.

"Tsk tsk, not a cloud in sight, sunny weather, it's really a good day for fishing."

Xu Yun rubbed his hands together and chose a corner of the wall where half was in the sun and half was in the shade.

He took off his glasses with a prescription of 900 degrees, and then...

Without doing anything, he perked up his ears and carefully listened to the sounds outside the garden house.

......

At the same time, inside the house.

At this moment, little Newton was quickly calculating on the paper:

"(A+B)m/n=(P+PQ)m/n=Pm/n+(m/n)·AQ+[(m-n)/2n]·BQ)+[(m-2n)/3n]) +[(m-3n)/4n]) +....."

"Hmm... if it's written as e^(n*ln(1+1/n)), using L'Hopital's rule once to simplify to 1... damn, that's not right either!"

With a pause of the pen tip, little Newton frustratedly pulled at his hair.

His cheeks puffed up, and he exhaled a breath of air.

At this time yesterday, he encountered Xu Yun who fell from the sky, and a series of events followed.

Actually, this matter itself wasn't anything special, it was just a coincidental encounter, nothing more.

But the scene that Xu Yun left behind coincided with a certain question that little Newton had thought of before:

Why do things that lose support fall downwards instead of floating upwards?

Of course.

The time when this question truly appeared was far earlier, and the first person to propose this idea was not little Newton himself.

But Xu Yun's appearance made this question leave a deeper impression in little Newton's mind.

And unlike others.Regarding this mysterious 'force', Little Newton actually had some initial insights, which were related to Kepler's three laws.

According to Kepler's three laws, all planets in the solar system move around the sun in elliptical orbits.

Therefore, many people, including Little Newton, speculated that there should be some connection between the inverse square law and Kepler's three laws.

However, the problem was that in order to realize the mutual promotion of the two, a mathematical tool that did not yet exist was needed - Little Newton called this tool the calculus, which was a method of seeking the relationship of their fluxes and the inverse operation based on the known relationship between fluxes.

At present, Little Newton had completed a small part of the derivation, but was stuck on the problem of simplifying the binomial (P+PQ)^m/n.

This was his sixth attempt to simplify the binomial, but he still couldn't successfully expand it into a series.

If he couldn't even get through this level, how could he talk about deciphering that mysterious 'force'?

Therefore, for a while, Little Newton was a bit frustrated, and his mind naturally began to wander:

In a few hours, he would have to leave for Uncle William's house...

He really wanted to kiss Lisa...

He didn't know how much food was left at his uncle's house, especially since they had an extra mouth to feed, Fat Fish...

Wait a minute!

As he was thinking, Little Newton suddenly realized something and quickly turned his thoughts:

Where was Fat Fish?

It had been over half an hour since he went out to fetch water, he should have been back by now - surely the guy hadn't gone to the Thames to fetch water?

Thinking of the living expenses that this Easterner had agreed to, Little Newton immediately became restless.

So he quickly put down his pen and walked out of the room in a hurry.

Creak--

After pushing the door open, Little Newton familiarly walked towards the water tank.

Unexpectedly, just around the corner, he saw Xu Yun squatting on the ground in an Asian squatting posture, holding a pair of glasses in his hand.

Seeing that Xu Yun was not in trouble as he had imagined, and even showed signs of slacking off, Little Newton's temper immediately flared up:

"FU....."

But before he could finish his word, he was abruptly cut off.

What stopped him from speaking was not the audit system, but...

On the shadow of the corner behind Xu Yun, there was a small but clearly visible...

Rainbow light!
