Chapter 14 – Task is here!

The next morning, when Avril woke up, she was surprised to find herself and Rookie lying in a small cabin.

She quickly crawled out and looked back, realizing that a simple small cabin had somehow been added to the ship's body!

"Wow, Captain, did you make this?!" Avril excitedly crawled out from under the canopy, inspecting it back and forth.

"If not me, then who?" Li Yuan said flatly.

"This is great! We won't be cold at night anymore, and it can shield us from the wind and rain. Captain, you're the best!" Avril chirped happily like a little bird.

Li Yuan couldn't be bothered to respond to her.

"Captain," Avril leaned against the bow, looking mysteriously at the front, "I used to think you were grumpy, but you're not that cold-hearted, are you?"

"Not at all! I'm just worried you'll get sick, and I'll lose crew members!" Li Yuan retorted, "If you're all rested, we'll head to the nearest trade market!"

Avril immediately straightened up and saluted the captain, "Yes, Captain! Crew member Avril is ready!"

Just then, Rookie came scampering out of the dock, barking at the bow, "Woof woof!"

"Alright, since we're all set, let's set sail!"

A small boat sailed slowly and alone on the vast sea.

In Li Yuan's memory, most vessels could reach speeds of over 10 knots, some even 15 or 20 knots. But now, his maximum speed was only 3 knots, and he hadn't even reached that yet.

Currently, his speed was 2 knots, which equated to traveling 3,600 meters per hour.

Li Yuan didn't blame Avril; she had done her best. For someone with a combat power of 0.5, achieving this speed was already impressive.

Eight days later, Li Yuan's radar sent an alert, detecting a large number of ships and humans!

"We're getting close to the nearest trade market," Avril said. "Captain, I think I should handle the communication when we get there. You might find it a bit inconvenient."

Li Yuan had no objections.

As they approached, they saw a large gathering of ships not far ahead, with a floating market built on the sea.

The market had a complex network of roads, bustling with people hurrying back and forth, their voices creating a lively atmosphere.

"This trade market is quite something," Li Yuan remarked, having never seen such a large facility built on the sea.

"This is considered small. The grand trade markets are almost like artificial islands," Avril explained to Li Yuan. "Captain, don't say anything now; people are watching us. If you have something to say, just whisper it to me."

On many ships, people curiously observed the new vessel approaching.

"Carrying quite a bit of wood."

"Such a small boat, probably here to sell wood."

"The woman on board looks quite nice."

"Really? Let me see through the binoculars!"

Dangerous signals permeated the air, but no one dared to act, as a white three-masted warship anchored in the distance deterred all the vessels.

Li Yuan looked at the white warship. Was this the navy's warship?

The warship was about 40 meters long, ten times the length of his own. Its sails were furled, but the tall ship pole indicated how massive they would be when unfurled.

The ship body stood at least 20 meters high, with numerous cabins. On the side, a row of dark holes revealed the muzzles of cannons, looking quite intimidating.

The bow was shaped like a sharp sword, with a cannon emblem matching the flag on the ship, likely the navy's insignia.

Truly imposing and majestic, with at least ten cannons on one side, and probably another row on the other. Twenty cannons in total—imagine the battle scene if the ship went to war!

Li Yuan wondered when he could evolve to such a warship.

Navy crew members occasionally moved about on the warship, wearing uniforms with navy insignia. Even in the market, people in the same attire commanded respect from others.

It seemed that being part of the navy, even just a crew member, was a symbol of status and strength.

"Just wait, I'll surpass you all one day!" Li Yuan silently vowed.

For now, Li Yuan dared not offend this behemoth. Thanks to the navy's presence, his ramshackle boat, laden with wood, remained safe. Those eyeing Avril's beauty could only talk, not daring to act.

"Captain, let's head to the mission posting area and see if there's a suitable transport mission."

Li Yuan slowly steered toward one side of the trade market, where many small vessels were docked.

Many people stood on their boats, anxiously waiting for something. Before long, a burly man with a bare chest approached, waving a stack of papers and announcing, "Missions are here. I'll read them out; those interested, sign up."

"Transport wood, must reach the Sell Trade Market in 3 days. Price is the usual, 1 White Pearl for 100 logs! A total of 500 logs."

"Jin Wei, over here, I'll take it."

"I can do it too."

A group of people eagerly responded. Avril quickly raised her hand, "We'll take it!"

Li Yuan thought to himself, 100 logs for just 1 White Pearl? The transport mission price was too low.

But Avril was experienced; if she took it, the price must be reasonable, so Li Yuan said nothing.

Jin Wei glanced at the boats that signed up and casually picked five, "You, you, you... you five go register at the back, someone will accompany you."

Those selected went to register joyfully.

Unfortunately, Avril and her group were not chosen.

"Next mission, metal ores, requires a load capacity of 2 meters, to be delivered to the Bekar Trade Market in 2 days, price 2 White Pearls. Need four ships."

This time, only a few large ships took the mission, and Li Yuan clearly couldn't meet the requirements, so he had to pass.

"Next, transport clay, requires a load capacity of 2 meters, to be delivered to the Missy Trade Market in 4 days, 3 White Pearls, need two ships."

...

Several missions followed, but Avril had to pass due to not meeting the minimum load requirements.

After several missions, Jin Wei's stack of mission slips dwindled, and the surrounding boats also decreased...

"Last mission," Jin Wei glanced at Avril, rare to see a beauty here, he couldn't help but look at her a few more times. This woman only fought for a mission at the start, but had been quiet since.

"It's a search and rescue mission, location is vague, about 15 nautical miles from here, requires a search diameter of one thousand meters."

Upon hearing this mission, many people around were disappointed.

"Ah, a search and rescue mission, the most troublesome. No reward if you can't find them."

"Yeah, forget it, no transport missions, let's leave."

Jin Wei ignored them and continued, "A fishing boat sank this morning, three people on board, one man and two women, the man is thirty-five, the women seventeen or eighteen. If you take the mission, I can give you portraits. Find one, get 1 White Pearl, dead is half a White Pearl. Anyone interested?"

This was the first time there was a lull.

"Jin Wei, the price is too low, finding people used to be at least 2 White Pearls alive."

Jin Wei said, "Can't help it, the client is a small business, even the boat was borrowed, this is the highest they can offer. Take it or leave it, no whining!"

The person sheepishly lowered his head, grumbling, "Only fools would take a search and rescue mission for this price."

Just then, a female voice suddenly rang out, "I'll take it!"
