Time flew by.
In the blink of an eye, another half a month had passed.
Lin Feng had found many natural treasures in the Jiuyou Secret Realm, but there was still no sign of the Red Spider Lily.
Theft is never good, try looking at bit.ly/3iBfjkV.
His best lead had been the deep pool where he encountered the people from Yaowang Valley and the Black Robed Men, but unfortunately, the Ice Python had not been guarding a Red Spider Lily.
Although only a third of the time had passed, with two months still remaining before the secret realm closed, the continued failure to find the Red Spider Lily was making him impatient and restless.
Evening fell.
Lin Feng was tired and hungry.
He found a relatively open spot by the river and started a fire. He cut a large slab of meat from the Ice Python carcass in his Qiankun Bag and began to roast it.
The Ice Python was the most delicious exotic beast Lin Feng had eaten since entering the Jiuyou Secret Realm, and its nutritional value was exceptionally high.
The meat was tender and savory. It sizzled and dripped with fat as it roasted over the fire, and with a dash of his secret blend of spices, the aroma was simply irresistible.
But even the most delicious food couldn't dispel Lin Feng's gloomy mood.
If he had time left after finding the Red Spider Lily, he figured he would try to eat every type of exotic beast he came across in the Jiuyou Secret Realm.
The meat of exotic beasts was far more delicious than that of ordinary wild animals, though of course, their strength was also greater by a long shot.
After eating and drinking his fill, Lin Feng leaned against a large tree to rest.
The countless chirping insects and the occasional roar of an unknown beast in the distance did not affect him.
Lin Feng was truly exhausted from the past half-month. He had barely rested in his search for the Red Spider Lily, and combined with the mental strain, even his formidable body felt weary.
Just as he was resting with his eyes closed...
The dense woods around him began to rustle faintly, but the sound was masked by the chirping of insects. Before long, a spider the size of a washbasin, with a pattern resembling a human face, was drawn out of the woods by the smell of roasted meat. It stared at Lin Feng, who was leaning against the tree.
This was a Human-faced Demon Spider. It was pitch-black, a social creature that was highly venomous. They hid during the day and came out at night, preferring to hunt in the darkness.
After a moment's pause, seeing that Lin Feng hadn't moved, the Human-faced Demon Spider attacked. It launched itself toward Lin Feng, propelled by its powerful legs.
But before it could get close, a streak of Sword Qi sliced it in two. Green blood splattered everywhere. That was like poking a hornet's nest.
Countless Human-faced Demon Spiders leaped out from the dense woods, each the size of a washbasin.
Yet, their fate was the same as the first. They were all bisected, their corpses piling up into a small mound. The green blood pooled together and flowed into the nearby river, poisoning a large number of fish and shrimp in mere moments, a testament to the potency of their venom.
Only when no more Human-faced Demon Spiders emerged from the woods did Lin Feng slowly rise. With a light leap, he landed on a tree branch.
Despite the carnage around him, his clothes were spotless.
Standing on the branch, Lin Feng fixed his gaze on a patch of the dense woods. With a flick of his finger, a wave of Sword Qi swept out.
“Screee!!!”
A shrill cry echoed from the woods.
A gigantic Human-faced Demon Spider appeared. It was dozens of times larger than the others, comparable in size to a small car.
One of its legs had been severed, and a large amount of green blood dripped from the wound, instantly melting the vegetation on the ground below.
Its two crimson eyes, each the size of a bowl, were locked onto Lin Feng, and its fangs were over ten centimeters long.
And so, the man and the giant beast faced off.
It was the first time Lin Feng had seen such a massive spider-like beast, and his interest was piqued.
After about half a minute, the Human-faced Demon Spider suddenly attacked, spitting several webs at Lin Feng before turning to flee.
After easily dodging the webs, Lin Feng followed leisurely from behind. This Human-faced Demon Spider was clearly different from the others; it possessed a sliver of intelligence. He wanted to follow it and see its nest.
More than ten minutes later, the Human-faced Demon Spider arrived at the entrance to an underground cavern and jumped in without hesitation.
Drawing closer, Lin Feng observed the entrance. It was massive, several hundred meters in diameter. Below was likely the main nest of the Human-faced Demon Spiders.
He took a step forward, his foot landing on empty air without falling. He then walked step by step to the center of the cavern's mouth and began to descend slowly.
He accomplished this without the aid of any external force, relying solely on his own power. This demonstrated that he had, at the very least, reached the fifth stage of cultivation—the Controlling Sky Stage.
Even in Lizhou, reaching the Controlling Sky Stage meant one was counted among the ranks of the powerful.
In the Shenxiao Sword Sect, an ordinary Elder was at the level of the Controlling Sky Stage.
In other words, the level of cultivation Lin Feng was currently displaying was already on par with that of an ordinary Elder of the Shenxiao Sword Sect.
After descending for over a hundred meters, he finally reached the bottom of the cavern. It was pitch-black, so dark you couldn't see your hand in front of your face.
For a high-level cultivator like Lin Feng, however, night vision was a basic skill, so he could see his surroundings clearly.
The ground beneath his feet was covered in layer upon layer of bleached bones.
Clearly, no small number of creatures had died in the jaws of the Human-faced Demon Spiders.
Lin Feng even spotted several human skulls among them.
He scanned his surroundings.
The cavern walls were riddled with countless smaller caves, ranging from tens of centimeters to several meters in diameter. There was even one that was thirty to forty meters across.
“Screee... Screee...”
A piercing, scraping sound arose.
Pairs of crimson eyes began to appear at the mouths of the surrounding caves.
An ordinary person in such a situation would have likely fainted from fright, but Lin Feng's expression remained calm, without a trace of panic.
He wasn't pretending; he truly didn't see these Human-faced Demon Spiders as a threat.
If he wished, he could eliminate all of these disgusting creatures in a single move.
“Screee...”
A sudden cry, much louder than before, rang out.
Following the sound, he saw a colossal Human-faced Demon Spider emerge from the largest cave. It was as large as a three-story building.
Faced with the swarming Human-faced Demon Spiders and the colossal spider beast, Lin Feng remained completely unfazed.
“SCREEE!!!”
The monstrous spider beast let out a piercing shriek.
As if hearing a command, the surrounding Human-faced Demon Spiders all leaped from their caves and lunged at Lin Feng.
Standing in the center, Lin Feng acted with a mere thought.
Countless streams of Sword Qi materialized from thin air. In just a few seconds, every last Human-faced Demon Spider was slaughtered. Their corpses rained down, completely covering the white bones on the floor.
This was the terrifying power of a high-level Sword Cultivator. Their lethality and destructive force were second to none among all cultivators.
However, Sword Cultivators also had a weakness: low defense. If one could withstand their attacks, there was a chance for a counter-kill.
Perhaps sensing the power of the human before it, the monstrous spider beast quickly retreated into its cave.
Lin Feng immediately followed it inside.
After walking for a few hundred meters, he saw numerous cocoon-like bundles hanging from the ceiling. They varied in size and were likely the spider beast's food, wrapped in silk.
He continued another hundred meters deeper and finally reached the spacious end of the cave.
However, as Lin Feng looked around, he couldn't find any sign of the spider beast.
He had clearly watched it enter, so how could it have vanished into thin air?
How could a spider that large just disappear?
There weren't any forks in the path on the way here!
Lin Feng grew frustrated, certain he must have overlooked something.
But he wasn't going to waste any more time searching.
He had more important things to do.
If it ran, so be it. It was just one spider beast.
To others, its beast core and poison sac would be highly valuable, fetching a good price or trading for cultivation resources. But to Lin Feng, they weren't worth spending a great deal of time on.
Just as he was about to turn and leave, a huge, semi-circular stone in the depths of the cave caught his attention.
There seemed to be signs that it had been moved.
He approached for a closer look. The round stone had indeed been moved from the side.
Lin Feng guessed the spider beast had moved it to block its escape route.
With a flick of his finger, Sword Qi shot out from his fingertip, dicing the massive boulder into countless small pieces.
Another tunnel appeared before him, and from within came the gushing sound of flowing water.
Could this be a passage leading to an underground river?
