Chapter 14 – Was That Cai Lin Just Now?

The sky gradually darkened.

This was the second night for all players in the "Building Survival Game"!

After dinner, none of the twenty-four women returned to their rooms to rest; they all gathered around Huang Tang.

"Aren't you all going to sleep?" Huang Tang asked curiously.

"No way!" Jiang Jing'an shook her head. "There was a merfolk attack last night. What if it happens again tonight?"

"Exactly, what if we're alone?"

"It's safest to stay by Brother Huang Tang's side!"

Huang Tang: "..."

The space was already small, and he was tightly surrounded by the women.

With every breath, he was enveloped in a sweet fragrance.

The benefits of this survival game seemed pretty good?

Wait!

Why did Huang Tang feel like someone was taking advantage of him, touching him here and there?

How bold!

How unfair!

Huang Tang's hands also started to misbehave.

As a man, how could he let himself be at a disadvantage?

Time ticked by.

One hour.

Two hours.

Three hours...

The water outside remained as calm as a mirror.

Occasionally, shadows passed by, but none came close.

Until the latter half of the night, the merfolk did not appear.

Huang Tang took a flashlight, checked outside, and said, "Tonight should be safe. Go back to sleep; we have to enter the Any Door tomorrow."

The women finally breathed a sigh of relief and got up one after another.

Huang Tang suddenly noticed Cai Lin quietly tidying her disheveled dress. When their eyes met, Cai Lin gave him a look that was three parts angry and seven parts coy.

Huang Tang was taken aback.

"Could it have been Cai Lin just now...?"

He really hadn't noticed.

No wonder it felt so good!

But what surprised Huang Tang was that the high-and-mighty Cai Lin didn't refuse!

He got away with it for a few hours.

"Maybe she was just shy..."

Huang Tang sniffed his hand.

Not bad, it smelled nice!

...

Jiang Jing'an pulled her sister Jiang Golan's hand and returned to their room together.

Closing the door, Jiang Golan looked at her sister, hesitant to speak.

Jiang Jing'an stretched lazily, "Just say what you want to say."

Jiang Golan hesitated for a moment but finally spoke, "Sis, have you really... thought it through?"

"Thought what through?"

"Like..." Jiang Golan lowered her voice, "Sacrificing yourself for survival?"

Jiang Jing'an chuckled.

"Sacrifice?" She looked at her sister. "You're exaggerating."

"Huang Tang is tall and handsome, with an eight-pack, and a decent personality. How am I at a loss?"

Jiang Golan fell silent.

"But... we're trapped here, and there will definitely be no shortage of women around Huang Tang in the future."

Jiang Jing'an: "That's exactly why I need to make a move early!"

She paused, her tone becoming serious, "Little sister, what were we before in the company? Receptionists. We had to bow and scrape to everyone, anyone could order us around. If Cai Lin looked at us twice, we'd be nervous for half a day."

"But now?"

"This is the apocalypse, no laws, no rules, no emphasis on education, no regard for background."

"The only rule is to survive!"

"And in this house, who can ensure everyone's survival?"

"Huang Tang!"

Jiang Jing'an enunciated each word, "Only him!"

Jiang Golan bit her lip, saying nothing.

"So," Jiang Jing'an continued, "among this group of colleagues, our looks and figures aren't particularly outstanding. Once others understand these truths, what advantage will we have?"

"Remember, in this 'Building Survival Game,' as long as we cling to Huang Tang's leg, we call the shots in this house!"

"I don't want to be a looked-down-upon receptionist anymore. From today on, I want to be Niohulu Jing'an!"

"Hahaha!!"

Jiang Golan: "..."

Jiang Jing'an reached out and ruffled her sister's hair, "When will you stop being so stubborn?"

"In the apocalypse, who talks about morality?"

"Survival comes first!"

"Without relying on Huang Tang, none of the women in this house would survive three days."

"Including you, including me, including Cai Lin!"

"No matter what others think, I want to be the first woman to win over Huang Tang!"

Jiang Golan looked at her sister, momentarily at a loss for words.

But she knew her sister made sense.

...

Meanwhile, in Huang Tang's room.

He tossed and turned, unable to sleep.

Twenty-four beautiful women were just next door, separated by a thin wooden wall, and he could even hear their whispers about certain parts of his body being really big.

Who could sleep under such circumstances?

Moreover, after injecting the "Super Soldier Serum," his kidneys felt like perpetual motion machines, with stored energy having nowhere to go.

He stared at the ceiling, counting sheep.

One sheep, two sheep, three sheep...

Just then, he heard faint footsteps outside the door.

"Squeak."

The door was pushed open.

Huang Tang remained lying down, secretly glancing at the doorway.

A figure quietly slipped in.

Slender frame, loose long hair, bare feet.

Was it Jiang Jing'an?

She tiptoed to the bedside, bent down, and whispered in Huang Tang's ear:

"Brother Huang Tang, I know you're not asleep."

Huang Tang: "..."

Huang Tang opened his eyes, looking at her helplessly, "Why are you here so late instead of sleeping?"

Jiang Jing'an smiled and said, "Brother Huang Tang, you've worked hard protecting us these past two days."

She paused:

"I'm here to help you relieve some stress."

...

The next morning.

Huang Tang opened his eyes, and she was already gone.

Jiang Jing'an had left before dawn to avoid being discovered by others.

He got dressed and went outside.

The women were busy preparing breakfast.

Two days in, they were slowly adapting to life in the apocalypse.

Seeing Huang Tang come out, Jiang Jing'an winked at him.

Then, when no one was looking, she slipped over to him and whispered:

"I want more tonight, remember to wait for me."

Jiang Jing'an finished speaking and walked away with a cheeky grin.

Not far away, Cai Lin and Su Qing both glanced over.

Cai Lin watched Jiang Jing'an's lighthearted figure and then looked at Huang Tang's subtle expression, feeling that something was off.

But she couldn't quite put her finger on it.

Breakfast was canned food and fruit.

Everyone sat together, eating lively.

Huang Tang ate while opening the system panel.

[Daily Card Draw: Remaining attempts 1]

He took a deep breath.

Yesterday's "Author's Note..." was incredible. What would he draw today?

The wheel spun rapidly, golden light flashing.

[Congratulations, you've drawn: Retreat! Retreat! Retreat!]

[Effect: Upon use, forces a specified target, human or monster, to become rigid and take three steps back. No cooldown time, can be used consecutively.]

Huang Tang's expression froze as he looked at the card.

Retreat! Retreat! Retreat!

Isn't this a meme from online auntie arguments?

Is it going to make him "possessed by an auntie"?

He tried to imagine it in his mind...

The image was too beautiful to behold.

Just then, a familiar mechanical voice sounded:

[Any Door will open in 10 minutes]

[All players, please prepare!]
