Chapter 28 – One step and it bursts!

His gaze fell on the task list, with only three tasks remaining unfinished.

The soul fire in Han Wu's mind flickered.

His current total assessment points were 3480, ranking third. He was still 130 points short of the first place, which had 3610 points.

But there were only three tasks left on the list: exterminating the Dark Frogman demigod for 100 points, annihilating the Bull Demon tribe for 90 points, and eradicating the Evil Treant Forest.

All three tasks were tough challenges.

But for Han Wu, they weren't too difficult.

Because now, after days of fierce battles, his skeleton soldiers had surged to twenty million.

Among them, there were two hero lifeforms and 190 Transcendent lifeforms as high-end combat power.

Such a scale of forces was already comparable to some demigods.

"Let's first go annihilate the Bull Demon tribe, it's closer," Han Wu decided as he looked at the map.

After issuing the divine decree, twenty million skeleton soldiers moved like a sea of bones toward the target.

Inside the Bull Demon tribe, the sounds of battle were deafening.

Strong Bull Demons wielded stone pillar totems to fend off the attacking Hellhounds and Lizardmen.

Zhang Xiaolong's Demon Wyvern form and Xu Sun's Lion-Tiger Beast form were entangled with a Bull Demon hero lifeform.

This Bull Demon hero lifeform was truly formidable, holding a stone pillar totem as thick as a barrel, fighting two Transcendent lifeforms at once without losing ground.

You should know, the Demon Wyvern and Lion-Tiger Beast were already as powerful as some hero lifeforms, and their combined attack was even more potent.

But unable to break through for a long time, Zhang Xiaolong was anxious.

Han Wu's leaderboard-climbing spree in recent days was intimidating to everyone.

If Han Wu took first place again, the resources he would gain would crush everyone else.

Zhang Xiaolong would have no chance to rise.

So, Zhang Xiaolong specifically contacted Xu Sun, who also had some conflicts with Han Wu, to join forces to snatch points and stop Han Wu's momentum.

Xu Sun readily agreed, bringing his core followers, the Lizardmen, into the battle.

But the Bull Demon tribe's strength was too formidable; every adult Bull Demon had the power of an elite lifeform, with tough skin and immense strength, making them hard to deal with.

After four hours of assault, the Bull Demons, though damaged, fought with increasing vigor.

In contrast, Zhang Xiaolong and Xu Sun's combined forces suffered heavy casualties.

If they continued, the team they had painstakingly built might be wiped out.

With no other choice, the two exchanged glances and decided to retreat.

They personally tested it; the Bull Demon tribe was a tough nut to crack, even together they couldn't manage it, so they assumed Han Wu couldn't either.

With this thought, they issued divine decrees, calling their followers to retreat.

But just as the followers began to move, Zhang Xiaolong and Xu Sun noticed something was wrong around them.

Unbeknownst to them, a circle of skeleton soldiers had gathered outside the Bull Demon tribe.

Looking into the distance, this group of skeleton soldiers seemed endless, stretching to the horizon.

Zhang Xiaolong and Xu Sun's expressions turned extremely grim.

They both had the same thought.

Could it be that they had the misfortune of encountering an undead plague?

The skeleton soldiers launched an attack against the Bull Demons, Hellhounds, and Lizardmen.

The scene was incredibly intense, with large numbers of skeleton soldiers being smashed into pieces.

Any one of the three follower forces could easily challenge hundreds of initial skeleton soldiers, as if the skeleton soldiers were made of clay.

Only then did Zhang Xiaolong and Xu Sun's expressions improve slightly, preparing to take advantage of the situation to break out of the skeleton soldiers' encirclement.

However, Han Wu, commanding the skeleton soldiers, wouldn't let them have their way.

Under Han Wu's command, a hero lifeform Bone Manipulator stepped forward.

With a wave of its hand, countless bone fragments gathered toward it.

In an instant, it transformed into a 20-meter-tall bone giant.

The bone giant strode into the battle, causing significant damage with simple stomps and punches.

The deceased lifeforms were summoned by the Skeleton Knights, transforming into the skeleton army's strength.

The more they killed, the more skeleton soldiers there were, creating a scene of despair.

Zhang Xiaolong and Xu Sun gritted their teeth and made a decision.

They planned to abandon their followers and rely on their own strength to break through the encirclement.

But as soon as they began to move, the bone giant seemed to anticipate their intentions, blocking their escape route.

Amidst their fear, they heard a familiar voice coming from the bone giant's shoulder.

"Hello, Zhang Xiaolong and Xu Sun."

Their pupils shook with disbelief.

They looked up to see a small skeleton with jade-like bones standing on the bone giant's shoulder.

Upon closer inspection, Han Wu's figure emerged from the small skeleton.

"Han Wu!" Zhang Xiaolong's Demon Wyvern form let out a low growl, as if wanting to bite through its sharp teeth.

Xu Sun's Lion-Tiger Beast form widened its eyes, unable to believe that the small skeleton was Han Wu: "Wasn't your core follower the Locust?"

Han Wu didn't answer, commanding the bone giant to lift its massive foot and stomp down, crushing Zhang Xiaolong's Demon Wyvern form.

After the stomp, he said, "Goodbye, Zhang Xiaolong."

Not far away, Xu Sun's entire form was petrified with fear.

The Demon Wyvern form, though possessing combat power comparable to a hero lifeform, was no match for the bone giant, a top-tier hero lifeform. The disparity in strength was too vast.

The Demon Wyvern form's death was not in vain.

But to crush someone without even a word, how deep was the hatred between them?

After the Demon Wyvern form's death, Zhang Xiaolong's true form did not appear.

Han Wu guessed that Zhang Xiaolong had withdrawn from the assessment.

A glance at the leaderboard confirmed it; Zhang Xiaolong's name had turned gray.

Zhang Xiaolong must have realized that even if he descended in his true form, he was no match for Han Wu, so he simply gave up.

Han Wu snorted coldly, turning his gaze to Xu Sun below.

He remembered clearly that Xu Sun had once tried to cheat him out of his divinity at a low price.

"Xu Sun," Han Wu said as the bone giant lifted its foot again.

Seeing this, Xu Sun lost all the arrogance of a divine family scion, pleading, "Han Wu, we don't have any major conflicts. I can apologize for the previous misunderstanding. But if you kill me, it won't benefit you at all!"

The bone giant's foot paused in mid-air.

Han Wu's voice came through: "Letting you go doesn't seem to benefit me either."

"I'll give you thirty percent of the treasures I've obtained in this realm. Just spare my life," Xu Sun pleaded.

Han Wu scoffed, "Thirty percent isn't worth the life of a Transcendent Lion-Tiger Beast."

"Fifty percent, I'll give fifty percent!" Xu Sun offered more.

His Lion-Tiger Beast form had absorbed many treasures since descending into this realm. As long as he could transmit back alive, he could eventually evolve into a hero lifeform.

For a hero lifeform, Xu Sun felt that offering fifty percent of his gains was acceptable.

Han Wu thought for a moment and agreed to Xu Sun's terms.

Xu Sun, unlike Zhang Xiaolong, hadn't intentionally tried to harm him, so he could let him go.

Besides, it wasn't for free. Xu Sun had 3020 assessment points, and fifty percent of his gains wouldn't be small.

Seeing Han Wu agree, Xu Sun breathed a sigh of relief.

Exchanging fifty percent of his gains for the life of his Lion-Tiger Beast form was secondary; he mainly wanted to complete the assessment alive.

This assessment would have some impact on college selection, and leaving alive was viewed very differently from withdrawing by the colleges.

"Let's sign a contract then, so neither of us goes back on our word," Xu Sun suggested, fearing Han Wu might change his mind.

Han Wu didn't trust Xu Sun's contract, so he drafted one himself using the Divine Login Pod's function.

Both parties signed their names on the contract, and Xu Sun handed over fifty percent of his gains before hastily leaving with his remaining followers.

Han Wu continued to command the skeleton army to attack the Bull Demon tribe.
