Chapter 31 – Steward Qian of Fear and Trembling

After the ceremony, Zhao Ting successfully became a Purple-Robed Disciple and a true disciple of Fourth Elder Chu Ningshang.

As everything concluded, all disciples except the Purple-Robed ones gradually left the Martial Arena and headed down Heaven Profound Peak. It was evident that the Outer Sect disciples, stewards, and elders were all on edge, as Presiding Elder Xu Ansong looked extremely displeased. They knew punishment awaited them upon their return.

At the foot of Heaven Profound Peak, when they saw two mountain-guarding disciples sleeping soundly on the ground, the Outer Sect disciples and elders were dumbfounded. How bold they were to slack off at such a crucial time, no wonder a mortal managed to sneak up the mountain.

Seeing Xu Ansong's dark expression, someone hurriedly went forward to wake the two disciples.

Xu Ansong exploded on the spot, his anger reaching the sky, and shouted, "Tie these two beasts up and bring them back to me!"

The two disciples, still groggy, turned pale instantly and were tied up in terror, not knowing what had happened after being knocked unconscious by Chen Xun.

Meanwhile, Nangong Yao chatted with various sect forces for a while before personally escorting them out of the main gate with the core elders.

At the Dao Heaven Sect Main Gate.

The two mountain-guarding disciples knelt on the ground, trembling.

"Sect Master Nangong, do visit my pavilion when you have time."

"Sect Master Nangong, we shall take our leave now."

"Sect Master Nangong, elders, please stay..."

Nangong Yao smiled and cupped his hands, "I'll see you off here then."

Afterward, Nangong Yao and Liu Yunjian, along with the elders, smiled and watched the sect forces leave. Once they were gone, Nangong Yao and the elders gradually withdrew their smiles.

"Sect Master, about what happened at the Martial Arena on Heaven Profound Peak today, is it really over?"

Liu Yunjian pondered for a moment, uncertainly asking.

Although the Sect Master had said it was over at the time, it was during the ceremony, a different occasion, so Liu Yunjian was still unsure.

Beside him, the elders also looked at Nangong Yao.

Nangong Yao nodded and said calmly, "Yes, I made it clear at the Martial Arena. Elders, you may go about your business."

With that, Nangong Yao entered the mountain gate.

The elders quickly bowed to see him off, only rising slowly after he was out of sight.

The elders exchanged glances, their eyes filled with an indescribable feeling. They all sensed something was off with the Sect Master...

However, none of the elders spoke up, as no one dared to discuss Sect Master Nangong Yao behind his back.

The elders shook their heads and gradually disappeared into the mountain gate.

But the events at the Martial Arena today were deeply etched in their minds.

As for Chen Xun, he had only been at Dao Heaven Sect for a few days, yet now everyone from the high-ranking members to the disciples knew of him.

...

After the Purple Robe Conferment Ceremony ended, news of Chen Xun causing a disturbance at the top of Heaven Profound Peak quickly spread to Servants' Peak.

In an instant, Servants' Peak was in an uproar.

The once high-spirited Qian Laifu was now scared out of his wits and immediately ordered disciples to go to the thatched hut in the west and bring Chen Xun over.

Meanwhile, Nangong Yao arrived at the foot of Servants' Peak.

Nangong Yao looked up at Servants' Peak, his eyes filled with emotion.

This was his first time visiting Servants' Peak.

If it weren't for the senior being here, Nangong Yao, as the Sect Master, would never have appeared here.

Because strictly speaking, servant disciples were not considered disciples of Dao Heaven Sect.

Every year, many servant disciples left, and only those who broke through to the third level of Qi Refining could advance to the Outer Sect and be considered true disciples of Dao Heaven Sect.

"Hu."

Nangong Yao exhaled, composed his nervous and expectant feelings, and then soared into the sky, flying towards the mountain.

...

When the two servant disciples reached the west and entered the thatched hut, they found Chen Xun sleeping soundly on the bed.

The two servant disciples exchanged a glance, sighed helplessly, but their eyes were filled with deep admiration.

This Chen Xun, as a mortal, climbed Heaven Profound Peak, disrupted the order in front of all the big figures, and most importantly, managed to leave unscathed. Truly impressive.

For them, just climbing Heaven Profound Peak was something they didn't even dare to imagine.

"Chen Xun, Chen Xun, wake up! The steward is calling for you!"

One disciple stepped forward, shook Chen Xun, and said.

"Mm." Chen Xun slowly woke up, muttering, "I was sleeping, what's up?"

The two disciples paused, then had no choice but to lift Chen Xun up.

"The steward's orders, sorry for the offense."

Chen Xun was lifted and taken out of the thatched hut.

Chen Xun, however, felt quite good, wiped the drool from the corner of his mouth, and chuckled:

"Hehehe, not bad, not bad, giddy up, giddy up, this is fun!"

The two disciples' faces turned dark at his words, feeling as if they were being treated like horses by Chen Xun.

Then, the two disciples carried Chen Xun towards the pavilion, but halfway there, they encountered a middle-aged man.

The middle-aged man was, of course, Nangong Yao.

Nangong Yao was initially pleased to see Chen Xun, but upon seeing him being carried by two servant disciples, he narrowed his eyes and said calmly, "Stop."

Hmm?

The two disciples noticed Nangong Yao, their eyes filled with confusion. Who was this person? They hadn't seen him before.

But judging by his demeanor... he seemed extraordinary.

Could he be a steward from the Outer or Inner Sect?

But that didn't seem right either, as Outer and Inner Sect stewards had specific attire.

However, this middle-aged man must hold some status within the sect.

"May I ask who you are?"

One disciple bowed and cautiously asked.

Nangong Yao approached, carefully scrutinized Chen Xun, then said, "Where are you taking him?"

The disciple respectfully replied, "Uh, Senior, this guy Chen Xun caused big trouble. Steward Qian ordered us to bring him back."

As for what would happen after bringing him back, it was surely a punishment.

Nangong Yao nodded slightly and said, "Alright, I'll go with you."

Ah?

The two disciples were bewildered but dared not say anything.

Thus, Chen Xun was comfortably carried, with Nangong Yao following behind with his hands behind his back, heading towards the pavilion.

However, Nangong Yao's gaze remained on Chen Xun, his eyes revealing contemplation.

Upon reaching the servant disciples' area, the disciples saw Chen Xun being carried over and began to discuss, all filled with admiration and shock.

As for Nangong Yao following behind, he was ignored by the disciples, as they hadn't seen him before.

...

"Steward, Chen Xun has been brought."

Soon, Chen Xun was carried into the pavilion, with Nangong Yao following in.

Qian Laifu, who was pacing back and forth anxiously, took a deep breath, turned sharply, looked at Chen Xun, and growled, "Chen Xun, do you know the trouble you've caused? If I, the steward, am punished by the higher-ups, I won't spare you... uh!!!"

But halfway through his shout, Qian Laifu saw Nangong Yao standing quietly behind him, watching him.

Qian Laifu first looked at Nangong Yao in confusion, but then his pupils slowly contracted, his eyes filled with extreme disbelief. Finally, his plump body went soft, and with a thud, he knelt down, trembling:

"Your humble servant greets the Sect Master!"

What? The Sect Master!!

The faces of the two servant disciples turned pale instantly, and they knelt down with a thud, their heads touching the ground, trembling, their minds blank.
