Chapter 49 – The Ten-Thousand-Man Army retreats

At the South Gate of Jinling City, hundreds of people were stationed at the entrance, inspecting players coming in and out. All players had to display their IDs to pass.

At this moment, a man wearing a common mask bought from a shop, hiding his ID, swaggered towards the city gate.

The onlookers glanced over:

"This guy is so arrogant, he clearly doesn't care about the Proud Heroes."

"There have been many like him before, and they all got sent back for free, never to come out again."

"The Proud Heroes are indeed domineering, but there's nothing we can do; they have the strength."

"Yeah, but all you have to do is show your ID. As long as you're not from the Madmen Gang or the Su Corporation, they won't make it difficult for you. It's unwise to go against them."

Everyone watched as the man swaggered up to the Proud Heroes at the city gate.

"Stop, show your ID and take off the mask," a young member of the Proud Heroes demanded.

"Heh, what if I don't?" the man smiled.

"Then we'll have to send you back for free," the young man replied coldly.

"Oh? Sure, go ahead," the man continued to smile.

"Damn it, you asked for it! Brothers, get him!" The young man was furious, and in an instant, hundreds of people closed in, launching various attacks at the man.

A series of unbreakable damage numbers appeared above the man's head, and in an instant, everyone knew who he was.

"Shit, it's Chen Feng, stop, run!" someone from the Proud Heroes shouted, and many turned to flee. They might have been arrogant towards others, but they were instinctively afraid of Chen Feng.

Unfortunately, since it had already started, Wu Shaochen wasn't going to let them get away. He initiated a massacre, dealing with these bullies without any psychological burden.

"Wow, it's Chen Feng, the legend!"

"Really? I can't believe I saw Chen Feng, I'm so excited. Go, Chen Feng, take them down."

"Hey, wasn't Chen Feng's mask in the video a thin, pretty one? Why is it a common shop mask now? I didn't recognize him at first."

"Are you dumb? He can change masks, can't he?"

"True."

The battle started and ended quickly. The Proud Heroes didn't dare to fight back, only knowing to run. In the end, half were killed, and the rest fled into the city.

Wu Shaochen didn't pursue further, nor did he enter the city. Instead, he turned and headed to the East Gate. This incident started because of him, and the Proud Heroes' actions were truly disgusting. He needed to teach them a lesson.

At this moment, the executive chat window of the Proud Heroes was in chaos. Since they hadn't officially established a guild yet, there was no guild chat channel, and the Oracle didn't have group chat features, so all messages were concentrated in a few executive chat windows. By the time they issued orders, Wu Shaochen had already reached the East Gate and started fighting there.

After dealing with the East Gate, Wu Shaochen slowly made his way to the North Gate. He knew the Proud Heroes must have prepared, either evacuating the North Gate or gathering a massive force.

Sure enough, when Wu Shaochen arrived at the North Gate, it was packed with Proud Heroes, tens of thousands strong, mostly archers and mages, all watching the direction Wu Shaochen was coming from. Clearly, they weren't planning to back down this time. With over ten thousand ranged DPS, even if not all could attack, the vast plaza in front of the gate allowed thousands to target Wu Shaochen at once. Even if the attacks didn't break his defense, he couldn't withstand many waves.

Seeing this lineup, Wu Shaochen felt a bit daunted. This was excessive, almost like cheating. With such a formation, unless he could charge into the crowd, the ranged attackers would be ineffective. But it would take at least 2-3 seconds to reach them, enough time to experience what "Thousand Arrows Piercing Heart" meant.

But now was not the time to back down. Wu Shaochen glanced at his backpack and calmly walked towards them.

Standing at the forefront, Ao Shi Tianxia saw Wu Shaochen and sneered, "Chen Feng, I admire your courage. You dare to come in this situation."

Wu Shaochen replied indifferently, "A few more ants are still just ants."

"Hmph, let's see what gives you the confidence to face my Proud Heroes' ten thousand ranged DPS. Oppose us, and I'll make sure you can't survive in the Oracle," Ao Shi Tianxia said with hatred.

"Wow, using ten thousand against one, the Proud Heroes are shameless," someone in the crowd commented.

"You just realized? They've always been shameless."

"True, but why is Chen Feng still coming? No one can withstand this."

"Maybe Chen Feng isn't afraid. I'll always support him."

Wu Shaochen leisurely approached the Proud Heroes, stopping just a meter from the nearest archer's maximum attack range. He glanced at Ao Shi Tianxia and said, "You better watch closely; sometimes numbers don't matter." With that, he suddenly accelerated towards the crowd.

"Attack!"

Ao Shi Tianxia ordered, and countless arrows flew towards Wu Shaochen. In the open space, there was no way to dodge, but Wu Shaochen never intended to. Without hesitation, he pulled out a Protective Scroll from his backpack and used it.

As everyone watched the arrows about to hit, a faint golden light emerged from Chen Feng, blocking all attacks.

"Damn, a Protective Scroll!" Ao Shi Gufeng exclaimed.

"Shit, he has that? Get them to spread out," Ao Shi Tianxia urged.

But moving thousands of people wasn't easy. Before they could react, Wu Shaochen had already charged into the crowd, leading to a one-sided slaughter.

Once in close quarters, the ranged attackers posed no threat. Wu Shaochen moved through the crowd, his dagger leaving a trail of white light, defeating enemies in a second, like farming resources. With over a thousand attack power and a speed of two strikes per second, the fragile ranged attackers couldn't last a second. Many tried to fight back, but their damage was negligible compared to the health he regained with each swing.

The ten-thousand-man army was vast, but its weakness was clear. Once breached, only a few could attack.

The formation descended into chaos, and as time passed, more died, while Wu Shaochen remained at full health. The ten-thousand-man army posed no threat to him.

Seeing this, Ao Shi Tianxia had no choice but to order a retreat. Though this would plummet their guild's reputation, there was no other option. Continuing would only lead to more casualties without affecting Chen Feng.

In the end, the ten-thousand-man army retreated into the city at the cost of hundreds losing levels. The incident spread online, and the Proud Heroes' reputation indeed hit rock bottom, mocked by countless people.
