Liu Village Chief held the divination blocks but did not cast them himself. Instead, he handed them to an elderly man beside him, whose hair was white and back hunched.

This was the most respected elder in their village. Whenever Liu Family Village held ancestral rites or invited deities, it was always this elder who performed the rituals.

The elder solemnly took the divination blocks and circled them three times over the incense burner.
