Vol.3 - Chapter 7 – Bad fortune is pissed off

The cat, although small, had a lively look in its eyes, but it seemed a bit arrogant, not even close to its owner.

Yu Xing squinted his eyes, feeling uncomfortable with the aura emanating from the black cat. It seemed to be stirring something, making him not want to get closer.

He was not sure who this witch was, appearing in a clearly fragmented world of deduction games and using the term "part-time".

Strange.

"How do we play the game?" Wang Jue asked.

"Very simple." The witch's beautiful face remained unchanged as she slowly recited the rules. "Each of you will enter the inner room and answer three questions. If you lie or cannot remember the answers, misfortune will befall you in this game. The more mistakes you make, the stronger the misfortune."

Upon hearing this, Yu Xing felt a sense of unease.

His... memory might not be very good, and he couldn't remember many things.

This game was targeting him! It must be jealousy, it must be!

"What happens if I can't remember any of the three questions?"

Yu Xing put his hands in his pockets, although he was not very confident inside, he still maintained his inscrutable appearance.

"Nothing will happen, just misfortune will befall you." The witch faced him and slowly curled her cherry-red lips. "After you leave, you might be hit by a falling Alice sign, or a gear might fall from the dome and hit your head."

Yu Xing laughed. "Sounds great."

"Thank you for the compliment." The witch elegantly nodded, accepting the praise calmly. She then continued to address the three of them, "After answering the questions, regardless of the result, I will give you clues. If I like your answers, I will give you a small gift."

She pointed her slender finger in Wang Jue's direction. "You go first, the other two will wait in the hall."

Wang Jue followed the emotionless woman into the inner room, feeling nervous.

The inner room was pitch black, he couldn't even see his own hand in front of him. He could only see a faint glow emanating from the witch. So Wang Jue closely followed the witch, afraid that something would attack him in the darkness.

The witch walked a few steps and stopped at a certain spot. Wang Jue could barely make out the outline of an object in the dim glow emanating from her.

"Now, start answering the questions. You will be responsible for your answers," the witch didn't give Wang Jue a chance to observe the object himself. She stared into his eyes, her voice becoming more ethereal.

Wang Jue hesitated for a moment as he looked at the woman in a black robe who emitted a faint glow. For a moment, he thought he saw a deity he had imagined since childhood.

Of course, he no longer believed in gods now, but he still feared the feeling of no fireworks emanating from the witch.

Nervously, his Adam's apple rolled, and he swallowed his saliva.

"The first question," the witch didn't care about his mental state, "Do you remember the feeling on your neck when your mother was maliciously cursed and went insane at the age of fourteen, almost strangling you?"

"...I remember," Wang Jue's eyes twitched, and his deep mixed-race face twisted slightly.

As he answered, the pressure on his neck doubled, as if there really were hands tightly restraining him. A scene seemed to appear before his eyes, his mother's usually gentle gaze turning hysterical, the malicious look in her eyes that she had never shown him before piercing his heart like a sharp blade.

"The second question. Do you remember the feeling in your heart when you used a scheme to provoke the killer who cursed your mother at the age of fifteen, and then killed him, using age and lies to escape punishment?"

..." A sinister look appeared in Wang Jue's eyes.

...

In the hall.

Yu Xing comfortably lounged on the sofa, playing with the silver cross he took from the display stand.

His pupils slightly dilated, it was clear that he was lost in thought, to the point that he played with the silver cross for quite some time before realizing that it was an inverted cross, symbolizing a demon.

"Demon..." he murmured, continuing to daydream.

Zhao Yijiu wandered around the room, occasionally glancing at the photos clipped to the white rope.

He blinked, then turned to look at Yu Xing, who was in a different state than usual. He wanted to say something but hesitated, hesitated to speak, organized his words, and forgot what he wanted to say.

Strange.

Why did Yu Xing react so strongly to this place?

He felt it was fine.

Suppressing his doubts, Zhao Yijiu looked around with an indifferent expression and found that there were really no signs in this place.

He thought there would be signs in the house since he didn't see any outside the amusement park.

But...

This place really didn't fit with Alice Park, whether it was the atmosphere or the sensory stimulation it gave. It was like a wolf mixed in with a group of huskies.

When the huskies wanted to destroy something, the wolf looked at them coldly, yawned, and revealed its sharp fangs. This metaphorical way of speaking owes a lot to Zhao Mou... When Zhao Mou was young, he was really his only source of happiness.

Just as he was thinking, Wang Jue opened the door and came out.

His expression was no different from when he went in, and he smiled at Zhao Yijiu, "The witch said the next one is you, go in."

Zhao Yijiu nodded politely and glanced at Yu Xing, who was bored and studying the patterns on the cross, then withdrew his gaze and walked towards the inner room.

Inside, it was all white.

The witch, dressed in a black robe, stood in the center with a black mist in front of her.

It suddenly became too bright, and Zhao Yijiu raised his hand to shield his eyes.

"..." What he didn't see was that the witch also glanced at the inner room before stopping.

"Come here," the witch spoke.

Zhao Yijiu walked over with a tense face, looking at her with the gaze of someone preparing to face a boss, "Can we start?"

Seeing that he didn't want to chat, the witch, who had no intention of chatting in the first place, nodded slightly and straightforwardly said, "The first question."

"Do you remember when you were eight years old and your brother took you to your uncle's house to experience dissecting a corpse?"

"I remember," Zhao Yijiu nodded lightly.

"The second question, have you ever killed someone?"

Zhao Yijiu's tone was flat, "I haven't."

"The third question, have you ever thought that one day you will fail to resist the urge to kill, and when that happens, what will you become?"

Zhao Yijiu glanced at the witch, "I have."

The witch's lips curved, "A very decisive answer. I can feel an extreme level of restraint from you."

"How do you know so much?" This time, Zhao Yijiu didn't leave directly, but stared at the witch's face, emitting a chilling aura, like a shadow lurking in a damp alley corner, dragging others into an endless nightmare when they pass by, unable to wake up.

The gloom in his eyes couldn't be dispelled.

Regardless of surprise, anger, happiness, confusion, or any other emotion, his gaze has always been like this.

"This is the Time House, I can see fragments of your past." The witch answered Zhao Yijiu's question, also ignoring the hidden aura on him, "And there is one more person who hasn't come in, can you call him for me?"

...

Yu Xing swung the cross, and the red gem in the middle of the cross was crystal clear, like a drop of blood.

Suddenly, a tall figure appeared in front of him, blocking half of his light source.

Yu Xing looked up, only to hear Zhao Yijiu's concise words, "Go in."

"Oh." Yu Xing put down the inverted cross without any reluctance, patted his wrinkled clothes, and brushed past Zhao Yijiu.

Zhao Yijiu's gaze lingered on the inverted cross for a while, then reached out and picked it up.

Does this thing have any special meaning? Demon?

Why is Yu Xing interested in it?

He turned his head and saw that Yu Xing had already opened the door to the inner room, which would automatically close tightly every time.

Inside the room.

After the third visitor entered, the scenery changed again. It was no longer pure black or white, but became a space with a strong antique atmosphere.

A brown wooden partition carved with cloud patterns divided the small room into exquisite and natural sections. The white walls hung landscape paintings, but it was unknown whose ink brush they were.

Floral screens, tea cups, incense burners.

On the other side of the room's wall, there were many framed oil paintings, the frames looked expensive at first glance. These paintings were not hung anywhere, but were placed in a scattered and orderly manner.

Next to the paintings were some large and small stone carvings, with lifelike faces, showing that the person who carved them had a strong skill in this area.

At a glance, this room was not only rich in antique atmosphere, but also a combination of Chinese and Western styles.

Two chairs appeared in the middle of the room. The witch's expression changed slightly as she lifted her robe and sat on one of them. The black cat on her shoulder meowed and jumped down, landing on the other chair.

This was the scene that Yu Xing saw.

In this exquisitely arranged and somewhat familiar room, the witch sat upright, and in front of her floated a translucent object.

Yu Xing had good eyesight and immediately saw that the center of the object was a cluster of black and white mist, surrounded by several star tracks. Each star was either crystal clear, dim and heavy, or dazzling and eye-catching, rotating along its own track.

He leisurely walked over and found that the black cat was sitting in the position that originally belonged to him.

"This cat is not polite." Yu Xing raised an eyebrow and gently lifted the cat with both hands in a posture of cradling. The cat didn't mind and just stared at him with its golden eyes.

The two of them stared at each other for a while, and the witch didn't stop them. Instead, she watched with interest.

"Meow!" After a while, Yu Xing's expression remained unchanged. The black cat was probably bored, so it swiped its paws a few times and shook its ears."It's called Misfortune." The witch took the initiative for once, "It likes you."

Misfortune meowed and struggled a bit, but it couldn't break free from Yu Xing's grip.

"Oh?" His magnetic voice drew out the note, issuing an ambiguous question.

The next moment, Yu Xing's gentle expression slowly changed, a sense of gloom spreading over him. His gaze towards Misfortune gradually turned teasing, scaring Misfortune into puffing up its fur.

"Meow—" As Misfortune cried out, Yu Xing loosened his grip, and Misfortune immediately jumped onto the witch's lap, curling up into a small ball.

Yu Xing's expression returned to normal. He was quite satisfied with his acting skills and the effect they had. He cheerfully said, "Now it doesn't like me anymore, right? Kitty, remember not to take my seat next time."

Misfortune was fuming.
