Vol.3 - Chapter 25 – Fatal illusion

Seeing Yu Xing wake up at this time, Susan's face turned cold, with a cruel look in her eyes, and she swung the kitchen knife fiercely.

There was no way to avoid this distance.

Yu Xing didn't intend to dodge either. If he rolled away, his head would probably be cut in half on the spot.

So he just raised his hand and caught Susan's wrist, with the blade of the knife only two centimeters away from his nose.

Susan exerted force on her wrist, but the knife didn't move. Yu Xing calmly sat up.

"What are you doing?" Yu Xing took the half-burnt yellow talisman from his chest. The talisman was burning with transparent flames, which wouldn't burn his skin, but only bring a scorching sensation.

His phoenix eyes narrowed, revealing a strong sense of dominance. Susan's wrist felt cold and weak in his palm. She wanted to break free, but Yu Xing's strength was too great.

"Why did you wake up?" Susan's face gradually became ferocious. She was very regretful. "If you didn't wake up, you wouldn't see something even more cruel! Is it not good for you to sink into dreams forever? Why did you wake up?"

With her increasing shouts, Yu Xing found her annoying and covered her mouth, taking the opportunity to snatch the kitchen knife and hold it against her neck. "Be quiet, or I'll send you to eternal sleep too."

He leaned down to Susan's ear, his low voice like the Grim Reaper. "Still a nightmare."

Susan widened her eyes, and two lines of bloody tears flowed out. Yu Xing was startled, feeling something squirming in his palm.

He retracted his hand, and the next moment, Susan's mouth opened, revealing a bloody mess, with something vaguely growing out of it.

Obviously, even though Susan was alive, she was no longer a normal person.

Suddenly, the thing in her mouth sprayed out.

It was a puddle of black liquid. Yu Xing quickly moved away and didn't get splashed.

"Sorry, I ate too much and couldn't hold it in." Susan wiped her mouth and looked at the liquid on the ground. "What a waste of food..."

What is this?

Yu Xing narrowed his eyes, wanting to see Susan's next move.

However, Susan just looked at the kitchen knife that belonged to her, held by Yu Xing, and asked, "Why are you holding my knife?"

"What do you want to do?"

"Do you want to kill me?"

"Does Brother Roy want to kill Susan?"

Yu Xing didn't speak, but Susan took the initiative to approach him.

"Brother Roy is a great detective, so amazing."

"But Brother Roy is about to become a murderer, a murderer that everyone fears and hates~"

She approached, squatted down, and more tears of blood flowed.

Susan extended her neck to the blade of Yu Xing's knife. "Kill me, if you want to kill me."

As she spoke, she moved forward a bit, leaving a small cut on her neck with the blade.

Yu Xing understood.

He had made a mistake in his judgment of this family. Susan and Mr. Brown were not ghosts, but they were not humans either.

The most appropriate term would be - monsters.

However, Susan's attempt to use psychological tactics to defeat him was too far-fetched. If it were someone else, they might be scared or intimidated by Susan because of morality or identity, but he wouldn't be.

Or rather, most deductionists wouldn't be.

Yu Xing coldly watched Susan's performance, and Susan continued to lean forward, resolutely - her head fell.

"Your father's ability is voice disguise, and your ability is illusion," he said lightly, indifferent to the head that fell to the ground.

That's right, it was just an illusion.

Susan was an important character. Even if she had to die, she couldn't die tonight. Her death would trigger a chain reaction among others and lead the plot into the unknown, which would affect his actions tomorrow.

Susan herself cherished her life so much, it was even more impossible for her to commit suicide at this time just to scare him.

Yu Xing wasn't sure at which moment he fell into the illusion, how much difference there was between the images in his mind and the reality. He had originally planned to attack the surroundings with the back of the kitchen knife, and maybe he could hit Susan hiding nearby. However, at the moment he made his move, he suddenly stopped.

His constitution was special, and it was impossible for him to be drawn into an illusion without noticing it, unless...

Unless he had already been in the illusion since the moment he opened his eyes!

Only by starting from the moment of waking up from sleep could he calculate it.

Yu Xing actively mobilized the cold aura in his body, allowing it to flow through his trunk and limbs for the first time in a while. Suddenly, the coldness filled his body, and while trembling all over, the scene in front of him suddenly shattered and became clear.

He was still lying in bed, and he hadn't moved at all.

The music box played a tune with a ding-dong sound. Susan stood in front of him, barefoot on the carpet, humming along with the music, and casually waving the kitchen knife as if practicing the angle for cutting someone.

The evil talisman on Yu Xing's chest burned hotly, leaving only a small piece, about to turn into ashes.

Not only the evil talisman, but the ghost-expelling talisman he had put in his pocket was also burning. It was probably the talisman that prevented Susan from taking action.Susan was waiting, waiting for all the things detrimental to her on Yu Xing to burn out.

What she didn't expect was that Yu Xing actually broke free from her illusion.

Suppressing his discomfort, Yu Xing rolled up from the floor, dodged Susan's surprised expression, choked her from behind, and snatched the kitchen knife from her hand.

"You!"

Before Susan could react, Yu Xing knocked her unconscious with a swift chop of his hand.

The ruthless girl collapsed limply. He shook his cold hand and took a light breath.

One really couldn't underestimate the things in the Deduction, one could easily fall into a trap.

However, after going through a test, the gains were also huge, such as... he could now search Susan's room.

In the villa, the rooms of the Brown family were the most difficult places for a Deductionist to venture into, but often important clues were hidden here. The greater the risk, the greater the reward.

Yu Xing turned on the light and brazenly wandered around Susan's room. Finally, thirty minutes later, he found some things that could help with the Deduction.

First, a photo tucked in the bottom drawer of the bedside table.

Second, a diary hidden in the deepest part of the desk.

Third, the most conspicuous, Susan's music box.

The first thing he observed was the music box. Anything that Susan could carry with her must have a special significance. He had glanced at it briefly in the hall before, but he had never held it in his hand for a detailed investigation.

The music box had a round base, and a little princess sat quietly on top. When the music box was opened, the little princess would spin continuously with the winding.

After fiddling for a while, he successfully found a gap on the base and opened a small compartment.

Inside the compartment was a small note rolled up. Yu Xing took it out, spread the note flat, and saw that it was written in dried blood: Susan, 11.17.

The date should be Susan's birthday.

"It's a bit like the Chinese practice of writing one's birth date on a doll, used to curse others or to ward off disasters for the person of the birth date." Yu Xing murmured silently. If this music box served the same purpose, then Susan must have used it... to fend off the attacks of the dolls and the people in the paintings at home!

Because the princess on the music box has two characteristics, it sits like the person in the painting, and it has a physical body like the doll.

Yu Xing thought for a moment, tore up the note, and restored the cover of the compartment without any changes. From the outside, no one would know what was missing inside, unless Susan opened it herself to see.
