Vol.3 - Chapter 27 – The body is buried under the roots and stems of flowers

During the day, Mrs. Brown spent a lot of time "taking care" of her sick husband in the bedroom. Besides preparing lunch and dinner, she rarely went downstairs.

Alex was a homebody. He liked to stay in his room and play by himself. The only one who would run around the villa was Susan.

But today, Susan felt a chill behind her. Under the gaze of the painting hanging on the living room wall, she faintly sensed that something was wrong. She took the music box and went back to her room to look at the adventures she had bought before.

The movements of the monsters gave the deductionist a lot of freedom. They could almost move around the villa at will. Of course, Mrs. Brown told them that guests could spend their time as they pleased and could also go to other places in town. They just needed to be careful on the way.

Yu Xing wanted to take a walk in the garden outside the gate. He still remembered the scent of the soil mixed with the fragrance when he first arrived at the Brown's villa.

Even after a whole night, even if it was just a small detail, it couldn't escape his mind.

His memory was used here!

In fact, his memory was very good, but only when he focused his attention and wanted to remember certain details.

Daily conversations and things he saw and heard would likely be forgotten as soon as he turned around. His mind was filled with too many things, and even old stories were gradually forgotten, let alone trivial matters.

Coincidentally, the deduction game was a place where he needed to concentrate.

Yu Xing separated from Martha and York.

York went to the study on the second floor to find records about wizards and witchcraft in the background of the deduction. He also wanted to see if there were any diaries, notes, or notebooks left by the Brown family.

Yu Xing and Martha were going to explore the garden in the rain.

When she proposed this idea, Mrs. Brown hadn't gone upstairs yet. She enthusiastically found an umbrella and handed it to Yu Xing, saying, "It's raining heavily outside. If Roy and Martha want to go out, be careful not to get wet."

"Thank you, madam. You are very thoughtful." Yu Xing was wearing his own three-piece suit. He was originally only wearing a shirt, but he put on the suit jacket because of the cold weather and strong wind. He didn't button it up, giving him a casual look.

Taking advantage of Mrs. Brown's ignorance of their actions, Yu Xing asked, "Do you usually take care of the garden, madam?"

Mrs. Brown shook her head and spoke without any flaws, "We have a patient to take care of at home, so I haven't taken care of the garden for a long time. It has been growing on its own during this period. Oh, come to think of it, I haven't been attentive enough to these flowers."

She showed a hint of regret, as if she really liked the flowers in the garden.

Yu Xing continued to ask, "Did you choose the flowers in the garden?"

Mrs. Brown shook her head again, "When our family first moved here, the garden was bare. Later, I don't know when, maybe some seeds dropped here and took root, growing into wildflowers. They gradually grew on their own."

Do you believe this?

Yu Xing didn't know if Mrs. Brown was lying or if her thought process was different from that of normal people after her death. How could a garden be filled with various flowers by birds?

Maybe it was the bird called Jingwei.

He chatted casually with Mrs. Brown for a few more sentences, and after she went upstairs, he signaled Martha, who had been listening beside them, to follow him.

It can be hard to make great work when its stolen from "pawread.com".

With the umbrella handle in his hand, Yu Xing used two fingers to open the door while holding the silver-capped cane.

Instantly, the wind with rain leaned towards him. Cool air currents intertwined among the dense raindrops, and the dark sky gave people the illusion of being in the night.

He opened the umbrella, covering Martha and himself at an angle where they wouldn't be swept by the rain, and then closed the door.

As soon as the door closed, Martha immediately relaxed her stiffness. The space under the umbrella was limited, so Lolita grabbed Yu Xing's sleeve to avoid getting wet by the rain.

In the sound of the pouring rain, she asked, "Why are we coming to the garden?"

The garden was divided into two sections by a road. Yu Xing randomly chose one and briefly told Martha about the contents of Susan's diary that he had seen last night. Then, with a smirk, he answered her question with another question, "Don't you want to know where Mrs. Brown's body is buried?"

Martha immediately understood. The townspeople said that the Brown family hadn't left the villa recently, so if someone died, the most likely possibility was that the body was buried in the garden!

They stepped onto the lawn. The rain had made the soil soft and muddy overnight. Stepping on it would sink in, and the cane would leave holes in the ground with each poke.

The closest to Yu Xing and Martha were the black roses. Clusters of black roses swayed in the wind and rain, making people worry that they would break at any moment. The beautiful petals were stained with mud.

In stark contrast to the black roses were the white roses next to them. Petal by petal, the white petals bloomed freely. The black and white contrast was hard to imagine as a result of their natural growth.

Beautiful, fragile, yet possessing an unexpected tenacity.

Yesterday, it was just a quick glance, but now that they saw them up close, Martha's eyes were filled with amazement. She couldn't help but reach out and touch the heavy petals of the white rose. "Wow... it's so beautiful..."

Yu Xing said, "Wow... Mrs. Brown's body might be buried under this flower."

Martha: "..."

There is evidence to suspect that you did it on purpose.

There must be a little devil living in this person's heart!

Seeing Lolita's gradually disgusted expression, Yu Xing adjusted the angle of the umbrella and chuckled, "Do you think the flowers are beautiful?""Beautiful, I want to plant some when I get home! The Browns have good taste, look, there are black lilies over there, all quite luxurious." Martha pointed to a cluster of lilies in the distance, her eyes full of love, "But I would mix in some other colored flowers, otherwise it's too serious, and a bit... how should I put it, sad."

This small garden was lacking in color.

Three types of flowers had taken all the nutrients, and as far as the eye could see, there was only green, black, and white.

Yu Xing looked around, large patches of black and white. He had thought last night that the garden was pitch black because it was night, but now it seemed that it was just like this.

"You can feel the seriousness and sadness, your empathy is quite strong." He turned his gaze back, looking down at the white roses, his expression unclear, "Do you know the name of this flower?"

Martha was puzzled: "White rose."

"It has its own name, Lorimas Rose."

Yu Xing's gaze passed through the flowers and leaves, through the overgrown weeds, and fixed on a piece of finger bone that had been washed out by the heavy rain.

The finger bone was buried in the soil, only a small piece was exposed.

"The flower language of Lorimas is, remembrance of death."

Martha's heart inexplicably tightened.

Then, she heard Yu Xing's magnetic voice slowly sounding beside her, emotionless: "The flower language of the black rose is desperate love, and the language of the black lily is, love and curse."

"Burying a person in such a sea of flowers, although beautiful, but... it's chilling no matter how you think about it, don't you think?" There was no chill in Yu Xing's tone, but this indifferent tone successfully made Martha feel chilled.

Yu Xing continued: "After being buried, the roots penetrate deep into the soil, eventually piercing into the body to absorb nutrients. The body is devoured by the flowers, the more it decays, the more stunning the flowers bloom..."

Martha felt very uncomfortable, just thinking about it gave her goosebumps.

Why did she not only have to be scared by ghosts, but also by her devilish teammate!

And the devil was so good-looking, she couldn't bear to argue with him.

After whining in her heart for a while, Martha could only respond: "Pro... probably."

Feeling the aura of the person next to her who was more than thirty centimeters taller, Martha lowered her head in avoidance.

And with this lowering, she also saw the finger bone that was becoming clearer with the rain.

...Oh my god, there really is a body buried under these flowers!

Roy, did you jinx it?
