Vol.4 - Chapter 25 – I predicted your prediction

The atmosphere in the camp became increasingly tense.

The rain was pouring heavily, and the wilderness survival experts protected the campfire. This action was not very useful on the Undead Island, where there were no wild animals, insects, or complete lighting equipment. However, they did it to conceal their anxiety and give themselves something to do.

Some of the people who stayed behind watched Wu Runhao holding the walkie-talkie, his expression getting worse and worse, and finally pacing back and forth in the tent.

There was only one reason: Team 2 had also lost contact.

It had been over forty minutes since Team 2 last reported their safety through the walkie-talkie. Wu Runhao had set the rule of contacting every half an hour, but Team 2 leader Longzhou did not follow this rule.

It was hard not to think that something had happened to Team 2.

Because today, Wu Runhao had confirmed that he was using a genuine walkie-talkie after numerous checks by the logistics team.

Ten more minutes passed, and Wu Runhao couldn't sit still anymore. He crawled out of the tent and stared at the jungle outside the camp, his eyes fixed on the small flag.

Everyone knew the reason why Wu Boss was so worried... It was because his nephew, Fang Xiaoyu, was in the exploration team!

This nephew of his insisted on going to the most dangerous front line. Couldn't he just stay on the ship with Boss Fang?

If something happened to Fang Xiaoyu, Wu Boss's hard-earned love would probably regress by three years.

Of course, what everyone was most concerned about now was whether Team 2 could return safely.

No one wanted the Undead Island to be too dangerous, as it would put their work in great difficulty.

Just then, Wu Runhao's walkie-talkie finally had a response.

Wu Runhao listened carefully, his face half nervous and half relieved.

The rough voice of Longzhou came through the walkie-talkie.

Many people were paying attention to this scene, hiding and listening at the corner of the wall. They couldn't hear clearly, but they vaguely caught a few key words.

"Team 2... in danger..."

"Death... missing... requesting help..."

"Fang Xiaoyu... medical... fine..."

"Hallucination... waiting in place..."

After listening to it, Wu Runhao felt relieved that Fang Xiaoyu was fine, but he also felt heartache for the sacrificed team members.

He immediately called the leader of the Armed Team 4 and briefed him on the mission inside the tent.

"Team 2 is in danger and is requesting help from the camp. The situation is as follows: four members of Team 2, including the paranormal researcher Song Quan, have sacrificed, and five members are missing. Team 2 leader Longzhou, medical team member A Bai, and... and cameraman Fang Xiaoyu are still conscious. They are requesting assistance in finding the missing five team members."

After quickly describing the situation, Wu Runhao's face turned serious. "I'm sending you to meet them now and conduct search and rescue for the missing members within the allowed time frame. But your top priority is to rendezvous with Longzhou and bring those three people back safely."

"Remember, search and rescue comes second, the safety of those three people comes first! Do you understand?"

"Yes, understood. We will set off now." The leader of Team 4 had a serious expression, exuding a sense of urgency from head to toe.

It had only been two days since they arrived on the island, and incidents kept happening. The killing power of the "Undead" on the island was far higher than the initial risk assessment of the project.

But today was better than yesterday. At least Team 2 had sent a distress signal, giving them a chance to save people and bring back valuable exploration records.

Outside Wu Runhao's tent, the ghoul grinned.

He had already heard about the casualties in the exploration team today. He had previously smelled the scent of offerings on Longzhou and a medical staff member, and both of them were in the exploration team today.

So with such a high casualty rate, there must be something going on with these two deductionists. Maybe it was even a battle between deductionists. The victorious side would definitely not be in perfect condition at this moment... So why not take advantage of their depleted offering abilities?

The experimental personnel had to stay in the camp, which was too restrictive for the ghoul. He had already made up his mind to quietly leave with Team 4.

And never come back.

He could hide in the jungle and stop the deductionists in the exploration team from returning to the camp today. He could continue to ambush them. Even if there were no deductionists in the team, it would still be satisfying to attack them. Afterward, he could simply blame the Undead on the island.

With these thoughts in mind, the ghoul quietly left the camp, avoiding all eyes, and relied on his excellent stealth ability to leave with Team 4.

He wasn't unable to leave on his own, but this time, having Team 4 as a locator was more convenient.

Hmph, the deductionists in the exploration team would never expect that after exhausting themselves in battle, just when they let their guard down, they would be attacked by me, right? The ghoul thought to himself, feeling that competitive deduction matches were simply his paradise.

...

"So the ghoul will most likely follow Team 4 and plan to take advantage of them."

On the other side of the ravine, Yu Xing leaned against a tree trunk. He finally found the umbrella from his backpack, although he was already soaked, at least he managed to stop the rainwater from splashing onto his face.

This sentence was his conclusion. Before this sentence, he had analyzed the psychological activities of the ghoul left in the camp.

All correct.

Unfortunately for the ghoul, he was about to face not a situation where the snipe and the clam fought and the fisherman profited, nor a situation where the mantis stalked the cicada and the oriole struck from behind, but a situation where he would be waiting for a rabbit at the foot of a tree. The prophet's corpse was dragged by Carlos and Nightmare and thrown into a large ravine. During this time, Yu Xing took the opportunity to study the bodies on the trees, and he had a vague guess about the purpose of this island.

After Carlos and Nightmare returned from "destroying the evidence", Yu Xing made the next move. He planned to eliminate all potential threats today, so he could fully immerse himself in the plot for the next three days.

"The Ghoul will find us before the four teams do, once it has determined our approximate location. We'll have to fight quickly when the time comes," said Yu Xing.

Nightmare held a walkie-talkie in her hand, full of doubt.

She had just contacted the camp under Yu Xing's instruction and asked Wu Runhao for support.

Wu Runhao agreed to send four teams to help, but was Yu Xing so sure that the Ghoul would come too?

"Don't worry, can't you see his control over people's hearts?" Carlos played with a flashlight out of boredom. His fingers were very flexible, probably due to his profession, and he could juggle the simple flashlight to make one's eyes dazzle.

He glanced at Yu Xing, who was pretending to be "weak" and protectively holding the camera, and said nonchalantly, "I've heard that those who can understand the thoughts of a madman are just one step away from being mad themselves. Those who can predict the actions of a pervert are perverts themselves."

"So, which one are you?"
