Vol.5 - Chapter 5 – The Underworld River

This task is considered as the starting task of earning points tonight, it shouldn't be too difficult, but the danger may not be low.

The deduction at the Ghost Bar is still within his main task category. The system needs to consider newcomers and control the death rate between 40% and 70% by integrating deductionists of three levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced.

This is what Qu Xianqing told Yu Xing.

Yu Xing quickly memorized all the contents on the note and returned it to Zhao Yijiu. Then he looked around with a respectful look like a waiter.

When the bartender gave the note, the evil ghost must have already taken a seat and was drinking at a certain location.

The evil ghost bribed the ferryman, concealed its sins, and touched the steps of the Naihe Bridge with its dirty feet.

It must also be hiding among the hundred ghosts of the River of Forgetfulness, staring at the two unfamiliar waiters who just arrived... Yu Xing thought.

Now is the time when evening guests enter. He first generously and naturally scanned all the guests in the Forgetfulness Hall.

There are three ghosts on this side of the bar, all alone. They are either calm or decadent, as if waiting for a partner who actively saves their fragile souls.

There are about ten guests in the private rooms. Among them, six seem to know each other and are playing dice together. Of the remaining six, three young girls are sitting together, looking like they haven't been to a bar much and occasionally come for excitement.

There are also three, divided into pairs and singles, each occupying a sofa.

Since the evil ghost "crossed the River of Forgetfulness" through abnormal channels, it should not have companions.

But no one can be sure if it has mixed in with the ghosts who intended to make friends in the bar.

This depends on the observation of Yu Xing and Zhao Yijiu.

After looking around, Yu Xing didn't forget to greet the new arrivals with "Hello, do you have a reservation?"

Among all the staff taken away by the exorcised people, including the greeters and waiters, they can do anything and must do everything at this time.

"No reservation," the guest said.

"How many people, sir?"

The guest replied, "Two, I came alone."

So Yu Xing led the new guest to a table for two, then slightly bowed and asked, "What would you like to drink?"

This guest is a male ghost, thin as a skeleton, with dark circles under his eyes. Despite this, he wrapped himself in a suit, really like a hanger.

- The kind of hanger used to hang clothes.

The male ghost is a regular customer. His gaze stayed on Yu Xing's face for a moment. "You're a new waiter? I haven't seen you before."

Yu Xing kept a cold face - this is the expression he thought was least likely to reveal a smile after thinking about it. In order to match this expression, his voice was also slightly indifferent. "Yes, the previous playful one was caught by someone."

"Haha, that's really scary." Although the male ghost said so, there was no trace of fear on his face. The most sincere part of his sentence was probably the two "haha".

The relationship between the regular customer and the previous waiter seems to be ordinary?

Yu Xing secretly noted in his heart and asked again, "What would you like to drink, sir?"

He didn't have a drink menu in his hand, which was quite embarrassing. Usually, waiters would give the drink menu to the guests for them to choose and then collect the money.

Without completing the task given by the bartender, let alone promoting drinks, even normal sales would be in trouble.

It seems that the male ghost comes here often and doesn't need a drink menu. He waved his hand. "A glass of Falling into the Yellow Springs."

It doesn't sound cheap.

A stack of ghost money was placed on the table by the male ghost, who generously said, "The rest is your tip."

"Thank you, you're very generous." Yu Xing had no idea how much extra he received.

He nodded slightly to the male ghost and said, "I'll bring it to you right away."

When he reached out to take the ghost money, his deduction prompt sounded.

Points +2

When he turned his head, he found that Zhao Yijiu had been following him, seemingly observing something.

Away from the male ghost, Yu Xing walked towards the bar and asked, "What are you doing?"

"Learning," Zhao Yijiu replied concisely, "I've never been a waiter before."

"Oh, so have you learned how to communicate with customers?" Yu Xing habitually maintained a cold expression. Zhao Yijiu paused for a moment and then nodded.

"I've learned."

After he finished speaking, he didn't continue walking with Yu Xing but turned around and hurried to greet the new guest.

Yu Xing looked at his back in confusion, quickly withdrew his gaze, and came to the bartender. "A guest ordered Falling into the Yellow Springs."

He placed the money on the bar.

The bartender, a lady, understood and didn't take the money first. Instead, she turned around and took out an opaque cylinder and a glass goblet from the cabinet. With skillful and performative movements, she began to make the drink.

Yu Xing watched her actions along with the three guests at the bar. The bottom of the goblet was covered with a small pump of black liquid, followed by deep red, like the sadness, reluctance, and regrets of certain people on the road to the Yellow Springs, which settled into a pile of ashes that could never be picked up again.

The bartender's movements were clean and neat.

Above the deep red was an unexpected sky blue, the color of the sky. Above the sky, the blue gradually deepened, transformed into deep green, and then transformed into a cool and thin new green.

This is a very beautiful drink.

The slender hand of the bartender reached for the ghost money, but Yu Xing preemptively pressed the money down. "Wait a minute."

"What's wrong?" The bartender's tone was warm and gentle.

Yu Xing's slightly calm tone gave a taste of unquestionability, but it didn't seem aggressive. On the contrary, it was very polite. "Although we haven't completed the task and don't have a drink menu, at least this is the order I completed, right? How much does Falling into the Yellow Springs cost? Can you give me a hint? That guest said the rest is my tip. I think the beautiful bartender wouldn't refuse to accept my tip, right?""This is reasonable, I think it's acceptable." The bartender looked at him, the soft light from above the bar reflected in her dark eyes, she actually told him, "The Underworld River is a mid-range liquor, worth a million underworld coins."

The figure was not exaggerated at all. Those who had burned paper money knew that a million underworld coins were just a few pieces of paper.

It could only be said that inflation was severe.

Yu Xing let go of the money he was holding, and the bartender took it out. Her slender fingers counted the bills, "It seems that this guest is very generous, he gave you one-tenth of the liquor money as a tip."

She handed Yu Xing a hundred thousand, suddenly leaned forward and lowered her voice, "Don't lose this, maybe in an hour or two... you will need it."

She spoke very quickly. By the time Yu Xing's inquisitive gaze fell on her, she had already returned to her normal posture. As for her expression, it was obscured by a black veil and couldn't be seen clearly.

An hour or two later... Yu Xing put the underworld coin into the pocket of his uniform vest, thanked the bartender, and turned around with a strange glint in his eyes.

It was unreasonable for the bartender to suddenly remind him.

She had no position to give any reminders to him, a waiter. Because according to the supervisor's disdain and caution towards their living identities as deductionists, the supervisor would never tell the bartender about this.

And if the bartender wanted to remind a waiter, she could have said it openly. That kind of posture, as if afraid of being heard by others, was as if... she knew they were alive.
