Chapter 37 – Try on wedding dress

```
"Suosuo!" Chu Yanru shouted, casting a cold glance at Su Hua before chasing after her.
The small garden returned to silence.
Su Hua extended her arms and hugged Gu Beixian tightly. Her heart was in turmoil, something wet and heavy stuck in her throat.
She buried her face in his chest, unable to hold back her tears any longer.
At this moment, her heart was filled with reluctance, unwilling to leave him, not wanting to divorce him.
She hugged his waist tightly, very tightly, but felt utterly powerless inside.
Feeling the dampness on his shirt, Gu Beixian lifted her delicate chin, "Crying?"
Su Hua didn't respond, her eyes red, pressing her face against his shirt again.
"Don't cry, your eyes will swell if you keep crying." His voice was gentle, patiently comforting her.
Su Hua's throat tightened, "Why are you so good to me?"
Gu Beixian raised an eyebrow slightly, a teasing smile on his lips, "Just a few words and you call it good? Our Hua Hua is so easily satisfied."
"Why are you so good to me?" Su Hua ignored his teasing, stubbornly asking again.
Gu Beixian's eyes darkened slightly as he patted her head, "The world is full of dangers, and you don't have a good father to protect you, only a paper tiger of a mother and a sickly grandmother. If I don't protect you, who will?"
Su Hua's heart ached sharply.
The better he treated her, the more it hurt inside.
She asked softly, "Is it worth it?"
What she wanted to ask was, for my sake, is it worth offending Gu Group's partners, your future father-in-law, and your childhood sweetheart's marriage partner?
Gu Beixian understood what she meant, pulling her closer, "From a business perspective, it's indeed not worth it. But if I don't do it, my conscience will hurt."
Su Hua said nothing, only hugged him tighter, wishing she could merge with him.
That overwhelming sense of powerlessness surged from deep within her again, trapping her.
Chu Suosuo was right about one thing: she was born lucky, winning from the moment she was born.
Back at the museum.
As soon as Shen Yuan saw Su Hua, she bombarded her with questions, "I heard from my brother that the handsome guy is Gu Beixian, the second son of Gu Group. Are you distant relatives?"
For a moment, Su Hua wanted to tell her that he was the husband she was about to divorce.
But she wasn't the type to spill everything to just anyone. Even if she did, Shen Yuan would definitely keep digging until she got to the bottom of it.
It wasn't something to be proud of, and she didn't want to make a big deal out of it.
After a moment of silence, Su Hua responded indifferently and walked into the restoration studio with little interest.
She quietly sat in a corner, watching a group of experts from all over the country argue over whether to use the southern or northern restoration methods to fix the holes in the painting.
The noise gave Su Hua a headache, making her wish she could just fix the painting herself and leave.
With all the time spent discussing, she could have already repaired the holes.
By the afternoon, the meeting ended, and the experts went to the hotel for food and drinks.
Su Hua left.
As soon as she stepped out, she received a call from Gu Beixian, "My mom wants to see us. My car is parked at the museum entrance. Come over."
After getting in the car, Su Hua asked him, "Have you been at the museum all day?"
Gu Beixian started the car, "No, I came an hour ago. The curator had a donation ceremony that just ended."
They arrived at Qin Shu's bridal shop.
Located in the city's commercial shopping center.
The entire ten-story building was hers, lavishly decorated.
Qin Shu was a bona fide strong woman.
Gu Beixian and Su Hua took the elevator to her office.
As soon as they entered, Qin Shu warmly greeted them, holding Su Hua's hand and leading her to the computer. Pointing at the design on the screen, she said, "I've designed three wedding dresses for you. Which one do you like the most?"
Su Hua was slightly stunned, feeling a sharp pain in her heart. She glanced at Gu Beixian and smiled at Qin Shu, "Mom, no, Auntie, I won't need them. Beixian and I are about to get divorced."
Qin Shu paused, her eyes showing a hint of sadness, "I know, but I still want to give you a wedding dress. No matter who you marry in the future, I want to give you one."
Su Hua felt both touched and distressed, her heart aching as she forced a smile, "Thank you, Auntie, but it's really not necessary."
She was slow to warm up to people, and once she loved someone, it was hard to move on.
As for remarrying, that was a very distant thought.
Qin Shu looked a bit unhappy, "Don't call me Auntie. Even if you and Beixian divorce, I'm still your mom. If you can't be my daughter-in-law, then be my daughter. I've already designed the dresses, staying up several nights to do it. If you don't take them, you're looking down on me."
Su Hua's eyes filled with tears, moved to the point of crying. Unable to refuse, she sat beside Qin Shu and seriously chose a dress.
She liked simple and elegant styles, so she picked a white, form-fitting dress with a long train, the fabric light and cloud-like.
Qin Shu picked up the mouse and asked, "Are you sure you want this one?"
"Yes, thank you, Mom."
"Then wait a moment, I'll have someone come to take your measurements. Once they're done, I'll arrange for the dress to be made. Wedding dresses take a lot of time to make."
"Okay."
Qin Shu called her assistant in.
Su Hua looked around the office.
The office was also Qin Shu's design studio, spacious and bright, with many beautiful wedding dresses displayed on mannequins against the wall.
Women's love for wedding dresses is innate. Su Hua couldn't help but walk over.
The real dresses were far more impactful than the designs. Su Hua found them all beautiful, unable to resist touching the smooth fabric.
She imagined herself in a wedding dress, her lips curling into a smile, though her heart felt a bit heavy.
Three years ago, when she married Gu Beixian, he couldn't stand on his legs, and they didn't have a wedding. It was a regret in her heart.
Qin Shu looked up and saw Su Hua staring at the wedding dresses in a daze. She smiled and said, "If you like them, try them on. Try as many as you want. Whichever one you like, I'll give it to you."
Su Hua's gloomy mood instantly brightened, her big eyes sparkling, "Can I really try them on?"
"Of course." Qin Shu smiled gently, looking at her with love and acceptance, as if she were her own daughter.
The assistant happened to walk in, taking the dress off the mannequin and accompanying Su Hua to the fitting room.
Putting on a wedding dress takes some effort, and the assistant helped Su Hua put it on.
Ten minutes later, Su Hua gracefully walked out of the fitting room.
The white, form-fitting wedding dress accentuated her slender waist and elegant figure. Her small, oval face was fair and smooth, her large eyes sparkling, her cherry-red lips, and her delicate nose.
The backless design perfectly showcased her beautiful back and butterfly bones.
Looking in the mirror, Su Hua thought she looked stunning.
Indeed, a wedding dress is the most beautiful gown.
Gu Beixian sat casually on the sofa, his long legs crossed, watching from a distance. His expression was calm, but a hint of amazement flickered in his eyes.
Qin Shu walked over, helping Su Hua arrange the train, praising, "My daughter-in-law has a slim waist, long legs, a swan neck, fair skin, and great temperament. She looks even more beautiful in this wedding dress than a star. You should be my model in the future."
Gu Beixian smirked, "Su Hua makes good money restoring ancient paintings. How much would you pay her as a model? It's a waste of her talent."
Su Hua remembered how she had told him not long ago that she made good money restoring ancient paintings and even boasted about supporting him. Her ears turned red.
Qin Shu rolled her eyes at Gu Beixian, "Yes, my daughter-in-law is talented and beautiful, kind-hearted too. Someone's eyes must be bad to want a divorce."
Su Hua said softly, "It's not his fault."
Qin Shu scolded, "Don't speak for him. His father is partly to blame, but he bears the most responsibility."
Su Hua was deeply moved.
What kind of fairy godmother was this? Most mothers-in-law would side with their sons, but she sided with her daughter-in-law.
After trying on the wedding dress, the assistant helped Su Hua carry the train back to the fitting room to change.
Qin Shu poured a glass of water, walked over to Gu Beixian, and sat down beside him. She looked at him silently for a moment, then said with a hint of sadness, "You clearly like her, so why not find a way to keep her?"
Gu Beixian was slightly distracted. He picked up his coffee, took a sip, and said absentmindedly, "My dad doesn't agree. If she stays, she'll only suffer."
"Your dad doesn't agree, but with your ability, you can live well without relying on him. In life, you have to follow your heart. Material things serve our emotions. When you reach my age, you'll understand that money, power, fame, and fortune are secondary. Emotions are the most important. Some people, once missed, will be a regret for a lifetime." Thinking of past events, Qin Shu's eyes grew distant, and she sighed softly.
Gu Beixian's eyes deepened. He looked towards the fitting room for a long time before saying, "That was her decision. I respect her."
In truth, he knew the real reason.
Su Hua had someone in her heart.
She didn't love him.
He didn't want to keep her by his side, making her suffer nightmares, calling out for her Brother Ah-Yao in her sleep.
There is a kind of love called letting go.
