Chapter 32

Everyone else was busy, but Gao Guang was idle. The trouble was, John was also idle.

"You're wrong. When you strike, you need to be quick, but more importantly, accurate."

"Why are you practicing with me here when everyone else is busy? Don't you have anything better to do?"

John paused for a moment, then grabbed Gao Guang's wrist and twisted it backwards.

"Ouch, ouch, let go!"

Gao Guang thought that John was angry because the other three were busy searching for treasure, but John had nothing to do and was still bothering to teach him short knife combat.

John let go of Gao Guang's hand and said coldly, "You fool! You're Chinese, you could learn real kung fu, but instead you're practicing forms. Are you stupid?"

John pulled the practice knife out of Gao Guang's hand and said, "I hate forms. They ruin real kung fu."

"Martial arts, or kung fu, is a physical exercise in China. It's not fighting skills. The kung fu you're talking about only exists in movies. How can I practice that?"

John's round face, paired with his stubble beard, gave off a strong sense of humor. But now, his face was full of anger.

"I've told you before, I've seen a real kung fu master, and he was very strong! There is real kung fu, but you wasted your time and opportunity. It's unbelievable that you spent over a decade on useless forms."

John began to attack Gao Guang's practice of forms, which made Gao Guang unhappy. Although he knew that forms weren't practical, it didn't mean he didn't like them.

What's the point of fighting? If you lose, you go to the hospital. If you win, you have to pay compensation. If something goes wrong, you go to jail. Is this the era to practice kung fu?

But Gao Guang wouldn't argue with John. He would follow along and practice, even though he didn't think short knife combat was useful. He thought it would be better to practice marksmanship with the time he had.

After a while, John threw the practice knife to Gao Guang and said, "Practice for another hour. When you can stab me with the knife, then go practice your gun."

Gao Guang caught the practice knife and sighed helplessly. Just as he was about to stab, Frank hurriedly walked into the gym.

"Gao's green card and passport are ready. Take him to get them. There's still time these days, so take him to get his driver's license, gun permit, bank card, and don't forget to get him a phone card."

After saying this in a hurry, Frank was about to leave. John was very angry and asked, "Am I his driver and nanny now?"

Frank shrugged and said indifferently, "Well, you can't do anything else."

After Frank left, John sighed and looked at Gao Guang, who was already excited. "Let's go! Get your green card. You'll learn to drive for me. You'll be my driver from now on."

Gao Guang was happy because once he got his green card, he could get his own gun permit. Although he could play with guns now, it wasn't the same feeling as having his own gun. Even if John wanted to give him a gun, it wouldn't be the same.

They got into John's car and headed to their destination. There wasn't much to say along the way. John was in a bad mood, so Gao Guang thought it was better not to talk to him.At the coffee shop, Gao Guang saw Pelin, who came to deliver the documents. He walked over and whispered, "Hello, sir."

Pelin looked at Gao Guang and then took out a file bag from his briefcase and pushed it towards Gao Guang, saying, "Here are your documents, take a look."

With an excited heart, Gao Guang opened the file bag and took out a passport, but there was no green card inside.

Gao Guang flipped through the passport, feeling confused. He thought Pelin had given him the wrong one, but then he saw the photo on the passport and realized it was correct. However, he soon noticed other mistakes.

"The name is wrong!"

The name on the passport was Otto Schmidt. Gao Guang was stunned for a moment, then exclaimed, "Otto Schmidt? What kind of name is that? This must be a mistake."

Pelin was clearly taken aback and immediately took the passport back.

"And I only applied for a green card, not citizenship..."

John looked surprised and said, "A mistake? How could there be a mistake? Let me see."

A person cannot hold both a green card and a passport at the same time. The normal process is to first obtain a green card and then apply for citizenship after living in the US for five years. After obtaining citizenship, the green card is revoked and a US passport is issued. Gao Guang did not spend money to apply for citizenship, but now he had a US passport.

What's even more troublesome is that the name on the passport was wrong, but the photo and date of birth were correct.

Gao Guang was confused, but Pelin slammed the passport onto the table and cursed through gritted teeth, "Damn bureaucrats!"

Pelin took out a tablet-like device from his bag and took a photo of Gao Guang's green card. After a moment, he said to Gao Guang, "Enter your fingerprint with your right index finger."

Gao Guang cautiously placed his finger on the device. After a moment, Pelin's face turned sour as he said, "The fingerprint and photo are correct, only the name is wrong...they got the name wrong."

"They got the name wrong?"

Pelin rubbed his forehead and said helplessly, "If it was completely wrong, I could have them remake it, but if the information is correct, then..."

Gao Guang sighed, "But I don't want the passport. Can I still apply for a green card?"

John suddenly pulled Gao Guang and whispered, "You idiot, you saved so much money."

Gao Guang whispered back, "But I really don't want to give up my Chinese nationality. Having a green card is enough for me."

Pelin said weakly, "Obviously, you wanted to apply for a green card, but this Otto Schmidt applied for a passport. Since you received a passport, someone else didn't receive theirs."

After speaking, Pelin took out his phone and made a call. After a moment, he whispered, "There was a mistake with the documents. My person should have only received a green card, but now they have a passport. Will there be any problems with the information? Please help me check it quickly!"

Although Pelin looked angry, his tone was polite. After hanging up the phone, he said wearily, "Wait, I have to find out where the problem is."

Gao Guang felt uneasy because getting a passport might not be a good thing. It could lead to all of his documents being invalidated due to the abnormal identity information. This wasn't about saving money, it could turn into a big problem. After five minutes, Pelin's phone rang. He answered and asked, "Did you find out?"

After listening for a moment, Pelin hung up the phone and said expressionlessly, "The situation is a bit special. Um, you got lucky. Don't mention it."

"What? What does that mean?"

Pelin shrugged and said, "Someone entered the wrong name when inputting electronic information. Since the information has been entered into the system, it cannot be changed. That's it. You saved $150,000. The good news is that I don't plan to chase after you for it."

Did he just save some money?

Gao Guang was extremely speechless. He could only say anxiously, "But I don't want to change my nationality."

Pelin pushed the passport in front of Gao Guang expressionlessly and stood up, saying, "Considering your job, I think it's not a bad thing to have an extra passport. I said don't mention it."

John shrugged and said, "Yes, having an extra passport is not a bad thing. I have three passports."

"Really can't change it?"

Gao Guang was a bit distressed. This was not the result he wanted, but Pelin picked up his briefcase, sighed softly, and said, "Believe me, the one who got the green card is the one who is really distressed. If he wants a passport, he will have to wait five years. So, thank Otto, who paid for you."

Pelin was about to leave. After taking two steps, he suddenly stopped, turned around, and whispered to Gao Guang and John, "My work has never had any problems, so I should be grateful to that unlucky Otto. Schmidt is not my client. Goodbye, Mr. Schmidt."

Pelin nodded at Gao Guang and walked away with heavy steps, leaving only Gao Guang holding the passport and staring blankly at the unfamiliar name on it.

John leaned over and looked at it, then chuckled and said, "Otto Schmidt, a German guy. Haha, hello, Mr. Schmidt."

"So I can only be called Otto from now on?"

Gao Guang still couldn't accept the reality. He looked at John and said, "But how can I have such a name?"

John shrugged helplessly and said, "I don't know if you have to call yourself that in your daily life, but your driver's license, gun permit, bank card, and all other documents must have this name. It feels like changing your whole life..."

Gao Guang didn't know what to say. He was thinking about the possibility of changing his name, while John solemnly extended his hand and said, "From now on, you are not you. Please accept my condolences."

Looking at John's solemn face, Gao Guang couldn't help but say, "I'm not dead. It's just a mistake in the name... Why are you laughing?"

Suddenly, John burst into laughter. There weren't many people in the coffee shop, but his laughter still attracted everyone's attention, including Gao Guang's angry gaze.
