Chapter 56 – What a good person

Gao Guang didn't understand corporate law or US bankruptcy law, he basically didn't understand anything, but it didn't matter. He believed that when Frank sold the company to him, it was definitely clean. So he waited for a long time, and it was only after 37 days that he finally got the chance to sign.

When Frank saw him sign, he looked a bit melancholy. It was understandable. Selling the company he created to someone else for a low price, rather than adding a zero and selling it, was not something anyone would be happy about. But seeing Gao Guang pick up the pen and sign his name without even looking at the thick transfer contract made Frank feel relieved from the bottom of his heart.

Frank liked the feeling of being trusted, and Gao Guang's behavior represented unconditional trust and respect, which moved him. But for Gao Guang, trust was trust, and respect was respect. The key was that he couldn't afford a lawyer to review the contract, and he knew that he couldn't understand a contract drafted by a professional lawyer. So he might as well skip this step.

In America, there was no business license, but there was a certificate of incorporation. Gao Guang just needed to sign his name on the contract, and the lawyer Frank hired would take care of the rest. After the formalities were completed, the lawyer left, leaving only Gao Guang and Frank in King Defense Company.

Now, King Defense was Gao Guang's, but the employees had all left, and King Defense was just a shell company. Gao Guang was just a commander without an army. But that was good, because Gao Guang could build his own team according to his own ideas.

Frank seemed a bit absent-minded, and after Gao Guang looked at him for a long time, he couldn't help but ask, "What are you going to do next?"

Frank looked up at Gao Guang and said, "Me? What am I going to do? I might get married, but I haven't proposed yet. But my girlfriend will definitely say yes. Um, I invite you to my wedding."

Gao Guang had never talked about his personal life with Frank, especially not about his family, because in this line of work, information about family and relatives seemed to be very secretive.

"Do you have a girlfriend?"

Frank seemed offended by Gao Guang's question and frowned, "Of course I have a girlfriend. Is that strange?"

Gao Guang was taken aback and said, "No, not strange. I just haven't heard you talk about her or seen her before. Have you known each other for a long time?"

"We've known each other for six years. I didn't want to get married before, just because I wasn't ready, but now I want to get married."

Gao Guang nodded subconsciously, then suddenly asked, "What are you going to do? Do you have savings? What kind of work will you do in the future?"

Frank shrugged and said, "My girlfriend is in San Francisco, so I found a job as a security consultant there. I'm sorry, I can't stay in Los Angeles to continue training you, but John can be discharged from the hospital and continue to train you."

Gao Guang was stunned, nodded, and said, "You're going to San Francisco? Um, when is your wedding?""I don't know, I have to listen to my girlfriend's opinion, but not for too long. I want to start a family within six months. Um, about proposing, do you have any suggestions?"

Gao Guang shook his head, looking confused. "Proposing? I don't even have a girlfriend. How can I give you advice on proposing?"

It was clear that Frank was trying to find some easy topics to talk about, especially those that interested him.

After a few words, Frank hesitated for a moment before saying, "I'm sorry I didn't leave you any property, but I still took $125,000 from you."

Everything that belonged to the company was gone. The car was gone, the bulletproof vest was gone, and the guns were sold. Gao Guang paid $125,000 and the only thing he got was the company's headquarters, which only had a seven-month lease left.

Gao Guang helplessly waved his hand and asked, "Have you cleared all the debts?"

Frank nodded and whispered, "Yes, all the company and personal debts have been cleared, so the company is not bankrupt, just transferred. I told you before."

"Do you have any savings left?"

Frank nodded and said, "I have $4,500 in savings, enough for me to get by for a while. Gao, I have a gift for you."

"Hmm? A gift?"

Frank nodded and got up from his chair, beckoning him to follow.

Gao Guang followed him out of the room. The small parking lot in front of the company was full of cars, but now there was only a lonely old car left.

Frank pointed to the old car and said, "It's inconvenient without a car. This car is my gift to you. I hope you like it and change it when you have money."

It was a 2007 Toyota Corolla with a 2.0-liter engine. After Frank sold his own car to pay off his debts, he bought this second-hand car as a means of transportation.

For Gao Guang, it was too much of a surprise for someone to give him a car.

Now Gao Guang had no right to be picky, nor did he have any concept of engine displacement. He felt that someone giving him a car was enough of a surprise.

"For me? Really?"

"Yes, it's for you."

Gao Guang was overjoyed, which made Frank feel a little embarrassed.

Originally, Frank said that all of King Defense Company's assets would go to Gao Guang, but now there was only an empty shell left, and Gao Guang had no complaints. This made him feel guilty.

So after taking out two car keys from his pocket, Frank said sincerely, "When I have money and become successful, I will definitely give you a luxury car!"

"Okay, it's settled then."

Gao Guang took the keys and then suddenly remembered something. "What are you driving?"

"My girlfriend has a car. I will buy a new car after I get my salary."

After saying that, Frank opened his arms and gave Gao Guang a big hug. He said seriously, "I'm leaving now. If you have any questions or doubts, be sure to call me."

"Okay, keep in touch. Where are you going now? Let me give you a ride."Frank hesitated for a moment. He looked at the car he had just given to Gao Guang, thought about Gao Guang's driving skills, and finally shook his head and said, "I'll go home and get my luggage before going to the airport. You don't need to send me. I want to walk home. Goodbye."

Frank waved to Gao Guang and left in a hurry.

Watching Frank's back, Gao Guang felt a little sad. He sighed from the bottom of his heart, "What a good person, really a good person!"

After speaking, Gao Guang took out his phone and thought for a moment before deciding to call Mr. Smith.

Back in the office, sitting in the chair that used to belong to Frank, Gao Guang felt the touch of the swivel chair. Then he stood up and sat on the guest sofa in the chairman's office before calling Mr. Smith.

The phone rang three times, and then a very gentle voice answered, "Hello, is this Mad Dog?"

Gao Guang's mouth twitched a few times, and then he respectfully said, "Hello, Mr. Smith. This is Mad Dog."

This was the first time Gao Guang had called Mr. Smith, but Mr. Smith had his phone number a long time ago and knew he would call.

So none of this was planned, but everyone knew it was going to happen.

Mr. Smith laughed a few times, but then sighed, "So, did Frank leave?"

"Yes, he just left. He said he was going to San Francisco to get married with his girlfriend." After speaking, Gao Guang respectfully said, "Frank is a good person. Please don't worry, Mr. Smith. May I ask if there is anything I can do for you?"

"Are you already the boss of King's Defense?"

"Yes, I have signed the papers. The business registration certificate will soon be in my name."

Mr. Smith was silent for a moment and said, "Okay, I have some business that I need your help with. Let's meet in Texas tomorrow afternoon at five o'clock. Do you have any questions?"

It was a long way to fly just to meet, but Gao Guang didn't hesitate and said, "I have no problem. Tomorrow afternoon at five o'clock, thank you, Mr. Smith."
