Chapter 84 – Conspire openly

A moment of panic.

The bullet holes on the glass were estimated to be about two meters above the ground, and the impact points on the bookshelf were slightly higher. A rough observation showed that there was almost no height difference between the two impact points.

The most important purpose of observing the trajectory was to determine where the bullet came from and even roughly infer the shooter's position.

The bullet hole on the window was two meters above the ground, which was quite high. Even if someone raised the gun above their head to shoot, it wouldn't hit the glass at this height first. Therefore, if the bullet was shot from outside the window or from a close range, the trajectory should have a noticeable change.

Gao Guang was not familiar with the terrain near the villa, so he couldn't determine where the bullet came from. But seeing the bullet holes and the debris flying off the bookshelf, his brain instinctively made a judgment. The bullet was shot from a distance, and it would be safe to lie on the ground.

So Gao Guang pushed Sophia to the ground first, afraid that she would panic and run around. He used his hand to hold her down, avoiding the first round of shots, and shouted loudly to alert others to lie down for safety.

Gao Guang didn't think about whether his reaction was correct, because he didn't have enough experience to determine if his response was correct. He only acted subconsciously based on his own knowledge and understanding.

Sophia looked terrified and instinctively grabbed the hand that Gao Guang was holding.

Gao Guang looked at the glass and found that there were no new bullet holes on the large floor-to-ceiling window. He immediately let go of Sophia's hand and whispered, "Crawl out, quickly!"

The safest way was to crawl forward and leave the room, even crawling on the ground would work. But Sophia obviously didn't want to crawl out. She turned over and tried to stand up, so Gao Guang could only use his hand to hold her head and make her bend over and rush towards the door.

Gao Guang stood behind Sophia and pushed her out of the study. Then he saw Mike holding Louis in panic.

Mike held Louis in front of him, and Louis's legs were kicking randomly. He shouted, "Put me down, put me down!"

Renato also came out, surrounded by several people, with Danny by his side.

Danny looked calm. He raised his right hand and shouted, "Don't panic, the shooter is at least one kilometer away. Take Mr. Saniwell to a room without windows, at least to the other side."

Renato looked very angry, but he didn't panic at all. He pushed away the bodyguards who were almost clinging to him and said in a low voice, "Go to the dining room, it's safer there."

The study was on the south side, the sunny side, and the dining room was on the north side. If they were not surrounded, the bullets would definitely not reach the dining room.

A group of people surrounded Renato and started moving towards the dining room. Naturally, Gao Guang had to take Sophia there. Mike put down Louis, and Renato pointed at Louis and said loudly, "Come here, it's okay, don't be afraid."

Louis quickly ran towards his father, but Sophia tightly held onto Gao Guang's arm and didn't let go.

Renato looked at Sophia and waved his hand, saying, "Sophia, don't be afraid, come over."

Sophia went over, but the problem was that she didn't let go of Gao Guang's arm. She wanted to drag Gao Guang with her towards her father.

Renato didn't notice, but Danny's eyes showed a moment of shock, anger, and panic. It was just a moment, but Gao Guang really read a lot of meaning from Danny's eyes. After realizing what he had done wrong, he immediately understood and calmly let go of Sophia's hand.

Gao Guang still followed behind Sophia, but kept a distance of more than one meter. They all arrived at the dining room, and the protected people sat down while the bodyguards dispersed to prevent any unforeseen circumstances.

After Renato sat down, he wanted to hold his son, but Louis impatiently broke free. Then he angrily said, "What's happening now? Did Gravier attack?"

Danny immediately said, "No, the shooter is at least one kilometer away, using a large-caliber sniper rifle to shoot towards us. If Gravier really wants to attack, he wouldn't use this method. In my opinion, it's more like Gravier is trying to scare you and make you leave this house. Only then will he have a chance to attack you."

Robert immediately said, "You mean we shouldn't leave here and just wait?"

"If possible, staying here is safer."

After speaking, Danny didn't hesitate and said, "It's not just between you and Gravier anymore. Gravier is fighting against the United States. He doesn't have much time, so he will become more desperate. We just need to wait. The FBI will deal with Gravier."

Robert's phone rang, he answered the call, and soon said, "Yes, please come faster, we can't have this kind of thing happening again."

After hanging up the phone, Robert whispered, "Laurent warned us not to retaliate against Gravier. The police have sent two helicopters with large thermal imaging searches. They will search every inch of the surrounding area to ensure our safety. But Laurent suggests that we better move to a safer place. He said he will arrange for people to escort us away."

Renato sighed and said, "The owners of Beverly Hills are all powerful. Gravier has successfully driven me away."

Gao Guang originally thought that Gravier's actions were meant to intimidate and scare Renato away. But now it seemed that he was too naive. Gravier's actions were actually two-pronged. Even if he couldn't scare Renato away, he would force the owners of Beverly Hills to pressure Renato to leave.

Renato was wealthy, but the owners of Beverly Hills were all wealthy, influential, and powerful. It was originally the safest community, the most expensive community in the United States and the world. But if it fell into continuous shootings and explosions, the property prices in Beverly Hills would decline.

So these powerful owners only needed to exert a little pressure, and Renato would not be able to stay. Gravier may be crazy, but he wasn't stupid. He used a combination of tactics to force Renato to leave, even if it meant using attacks that were not too threatening but were intimidating and annoying.

However, it seemed that Gao Guang's thinking was too simplistic. Gravier's actions were not just meant to intimidate Renato. He also wanted to force the owners of Beverly Hills to pressure Renato to leave.

Renato understood the key point, but he couldn't solve it. Gravier was using a clever strategy, and a clever strategy was done openly and honestly, without fear of being exposed.

Robert's face looked slightly unpleasant. He turned to Renato and said in a low voice, "Sir, it's better to leave voluntarily than being forced to leave. Gravier is likely to have set up an ambush on our way out. Even with more escorts, it won't be safe. It's better to leave by helicopter directly."

Renato nodded and said, "Okay, let's do that."

"No!"

Danny stood up, his face serious. "We absolutely cannot leave by helicopter. The best way is to stay here and ignore anyone else. This is your house, and other owners have no right to drive you out, Mr. Saniwell! Even if you insist on staying here, you cannot leave!"

Robert seemed angry, but he just lost his smile and calmly said, "Why?"

Danny didn't want to show off or argue, so he lowered his voice and said sincerely, "What if Gravier uses anti-aircraft missiles? What if he has portable anti-aircraft missiles? This area is surrounded by buildings, and you can't check every place, and the police can't search every building..."

Robert interrupted anxiously, "This is the United States! Where can Gravier get anti-aircraft missiles?"

Robert was getting anxious, but Danny took a deep breath and said, "Buddy, you've been in business for too long, Mr. Saniwell, haven't you realized the seriousness of the problem? On the international black market, a set of Stinger portable anti-aircraft missiles only costs $150,000. A set of SAM-7 only costs $50,000! A set of Igla-S anti-aircraft missiles only costs $100,000. But most of the time, these missiles are provided for free, and it's easy to get them for free. But do you know how much they are worth once they're smuggled into the United States? $500,000, exactly $500,000! Arms dealers are too cunning!"

Danny didn't want to criticize how black the arms dealers were at this time. He changed his tone and said calmly, "But why do you think Gravier can't afford a set of anti-aircraft missiles worth $500,000? Why?"

No one spoke, Renato pressed his forehead with his hand, and Robert shook his head helplessly. After a while, he said in a low voice, "If that's the case, what if Gravier attacks us with a rocket launcher from a distance?"

Danny didn't hesitate and said, "This house is built with reinforced concrete. Trust me, even if Gravier has a rocket launcher or an anti-tank missile, it won't pose a big threat to this house. But helicopters are different. One missile hit and it's over!"

After speaking, Danny said sincerely, "You want Gravier dead, but Gravier wants to take you down with him, Mr. Saniwell. There is a difference between the two."

Renato sighed, looking somewhat helpless, and said, "You make sense, but if I really stay here, I will offend everyone here, Danny. My business will be ruined, I will go bankrupt."

Danny was looking at the satellite map. After a while, he pointed to an area on the screen and said, "The shooter is here, he must be here. But this doesn't matter anymore. What's important is that there are only two routes to leave this mountaintop villa area."

With a pained expression on his face, Danny shook his head and said in a low voice, "This is the most troublesome terrain. It's surrounded by buildings, but there are only two roads. It's too easy to set up an ambush."

Renato said in a low voice, "The roads are not easy to travel, so why not take a helicopter? We can have multiple helicopters if necessary. Can't we do that?"

Danny smiled bitterly and said, "Sure, prepare multiple helicopters, multiple directions, multiple flights. The helicopters fly at ultra-low altitudes, entering at treetop height. Even if Gravier has an ambush in a nearby house, it would be difficult to shoot them down. But I have a question, can you find qualified pilots? Can you get permission for the flight route? This is Beverly Hills. Will the aviation authority allow helicopters to fly in a highly dangerous manner like this?"

After asking, Danny and Renato fell silent.

"Sir, it's really simple to leave here. I'm 90% sure that I can safely get you and the children out, but even with a 1% chance, I can't let you take the risk."

Expressing the source of the predicament with extreme helplessness, Danny pointed at the screen and said, "The safest way is obviously for the police helicopters to check if there are any suspicious personnel nearby, and then tell the FBI that we want to leave by helicopter. But after the helicopter lands, we should disperse all the cars, three cars per group, and leave separately. Even if Gravier has an ambush, he won't be able to determine if Mr. Saniwell is in which car."

A simple diversionary tactic, but unless Gravier has sent an undercover agent to Renato, such as Robert and Sophia's level of intimacy, he wouldn't accurately know Renato's whereabouts.

It was impossible to be completely safe, but according to Danny's arrangement, Gao Guang felt that the level of safety was already high enough and completely acceptable.

Renato hesitated for a moment, then nodded and said, "Okay, let's do it this way."

Danny nodded and said, "Mr. Saniwell, I suggest that you and the children separate."

Renato frowned, but soon nodded and said, "Well, it's better to separate."

Danny immediately said, "Let's start the action. Contact the police and the FBI and ask for their help. Tell them that we want to leave by helicopter. Everyone change your clothes. Mr. Saniwell, please change into the same clothes as our people. Um, Louis's appearance is the most obvious, we need to find a way to disguise him."

Looking at Sophia, Danny reached out and said, "Please tie up your long hair, wear a hat, and change into combat attire. All of you should bring rifles. This way, it will look more like security personnel."

Danny's arrangements were very specific, but Sophia turned around and looked at Gao Guang. She whispered, "If we have to separate, then I'll go with you in the same car."
