Chapter 121 – It's complicated

Gao Guang didn't know where he was, but he knew he was taken into a police car and brought to a completely unfamiliar place.

At most, he should be a witness, not a suspect. Gao Guang felt that he was doing legitimate business, meeting a client in his own company. Even if this client had any problems, it shouldn't involve him.

He was inexplicably arrested and not allowed to make a phone call. He was taken to a place similar to an interrogation room. He wasn't handcuffed or fixed to a chair. It seemed like he was being treated well.

A man in a suit walked into the room and directly asked Gao Guang, who was sitting in the chair, "What is your relationship with Abu? Why did he meet you tonight? What did you both say?"

Gao Guang took a deep breath and said, "I request to make a phone call to my lawyer. I won't say anything until my lawyer arrives."

"This is not an ordinary criminal case. Abu is a arms dealer involved in smuggling and selling weapons. This is a case that endangers national security."

The man in the suit looked coldly at Gao Guang and said in a mocking tone, "So don't talk to me about lawyers. Listen carefully, tell me everything you know, what he said to you, tell me honestly!"

Why is it different from the movies? Why can't he make a phone call to a lawyer? Although Gao Guang didn't have a lawyer, not being able to make a phone call meant he couldn't seek help from others.

This could be troublesome, but after thinking about it, Gao Guang felt that he still couldn't speak.

This was the first time Gao Guang had met Abu, but what he said was very valuable. For example, the number of drones, who the buyer was, where they were going to be transported from. These were things that the FBI urgently wanted to know, and Gao Guang already knew.

Saying it would bring endless trouble, the kind that involved lives. So Gao Guang felt that he had to hold on no matter what.

Gao Guang felt helpless. He could only say in a low voice again, "I request to make a phone call to my lawyer. I won't say anything until my lawyer arrives."

The man in the suit became angry. He stood up and said, "It seems you still don't understand your situation."

There was a knock on the door, and after two knocks, a person wearing an FBI uniform entered directly and said to the man in the suit, "Please come out."

The man left, leaving Gao Guang alone in the interrogation room, speculating on what had happened.

About a minute later, the man in the suit came back in. He was holding a cellphone and placed it on the table as he entered. He said expressionlessly, "You can make a phone call to your lawyer now."

Clearly, the situation had changed significantly. Gao Guang picked up his own cellphone, thought for a moment, and said cautiously, "Can you just let us go?"

"Call your lawyer, and then tell me everything you know under the lawyer's witness!"

The man in the suit still had no expression, but he should be very angry because he could no longer act outside the usual rules. But now, it was obvious that he had to follow the rules, which greatly improved Gao Guang's situation.

Abu must have made a move. If Abu himself no longer had charges related to endangering national security and interests, then Gao Guang, who had only met him once, would have nothing to do with these charges.

But Gao Guang still couldn't leave. He still had to cooperate with the investigation.

"I can treat you as a witness, or I can treat you as Abu's accomplice. You choose!"

Gao Guang thought for a moment and decided to make the phone call.

The problem was, without a lawyer, who should he make this crucial call to for help?

Finding a lawyer was impossible and there was no time. Mr. Smith was his biggest backer, but it didn't seem appropriate to call him directly. It would make Gao Guang seem incapable.

Calling Renato was even more impossible. Gao Guang didn't have his number.

Calling John would be useless. The most reliable person would be Danny. Abu came to him through Danny's introduction. But the key was that he was dealing with the FBI now. Asking Danny for help, would it cause inconvenience for Danny?

Gao Guang wanted to try to solve the problem on his own first, without troubling Danny. He wanted to see if he could handle it with his own power.

Then who else could he turn to? Only Walton.

Gao Guang dialed Walton's number, and the call was quickly answered. Walton laughed on the other end of the line and said, "Hey, have you finished meeting the client?"

"Walton, I've encountered some trouble. I've been arrested by the FBI because of the client I met. Can you help me?"

He had to be direct when speaking. Gao Guang got straight to the point, but Walton was surprised and asked, "What? You were arrested by the FBI? Why did they arrest you? What did you do?""I don't know, I didn't do anything. Can you help me? If not, I have to make a phone call to someone else."

"Where are you?"

"Um, I don't know, wait a moment."

Gao Guang looked at the man in the suit opposite him and whispered, "Excuse me, where is this place?"

The man in the suit sighed and said, "Los Angeles Headquarters."

Warton heard it and immediately said, "Wait for me, I'll definitely be there in twenty minutes."

The call ended, and the man in the suit looked at Gao Guang and said, "Obviously, you didn't call a lawyer. Do you know what kind of behavior this is?"

Gao Guang had no idea. He now felt that he should really brush up on his knowledge of the law.

But since the call was made, he could only wait and see what would happen after Warton arrived.

Then, in less than five minutes, someone knocked on the door again. A person in uniform came in, took a quick look at Gao Guang, and expressionlessly said, "Take him to the main room."

The man in the suit looked helpless. He stood up and said to Gao Guang, "Follow me."

Gao Guang had no idea where the so-called main room was. Inside, there were only a few chairs and a long table, but the room was indeed quite large. After being taken in, the man in the suit simply left without saying a word.

Now Gao Guang still had his phone with him, and no one took it away from him. It seemed as if nothing had happened, but no one told Gao Guang what he was supposed to do next.

Tonight was really bizarre, but Gao Guang felt that it was strangely calm here. However, behind the scenes, there might be many people running around and shouting. Things were changing so quickly, and Donkey Abu must have put in a lot of effort.

After a while, Mike was brought in, with his hands behind his back and two people pressing on him. After they removed the handcuffs from Mike, the two quickly backed away.

Mike rubbed his wrists and grinned at Gao Guang. "Boss, are you okay?"

"I'm fine. Are you okay? Forget it, let's wait and see."

As they were talking, Francisco was also brought in.

Francisco's mouth was tightly closed, but blood could be seen on his lips. He had a serious and tragic expression, as if he had encountered a major disaster.

Gao Guang was startled and asked, "Are you okay?"

Francisco nodded, then shook his head. He tightly bit his lips and didn't say a word.

Just then, after about fifteen minutes, the door of the main room opened again, and a middle-aged man walked in, followed by a woman.

The woman still had a charming demeanor. She looked to be in her forties, tall and thin, wearing a suit. There were fine wrinkles on her face, and she had no makeup on. She looked very serious.

After the woman came in and glanced at the three people sitting in the chairs, her gaze first fell on Mike, then on Gao Guang. She then looked at the middle-aged man who had brought her in and said, "It's them."

"Okay, I'll just ask them some routine questions. Ms. Lawrence, you can observe."

Linda Lawrence, Warton's girlfriend, had indeed come.

She nodded and sat down on the side, while the middle-aged man opened a notebook and said to Gao Guang, "What is your relationship with Abu Salidar?"

Gao Guang innocently said, "We have no relationship. I have never seen him before today."

"Why did he look for you?"

"I run a security company. I had a client come to my office today, so we were discussing business."

"Okay, what did he say to you?"

"He arrived at my company at eight o'clock, and then I invited him into my office. But before we could say anything, your people rushed in, and then I was brought here."

The man questioning them closed the notebook and said, "Thank you for your cooperation."

Is that it?

The man stood up and said, "Ms. Lawrence, today was a misunderstanding. Based on the information we have, they indeed have no connection with Abu. You can leave now."

Linda smiled slightly, nodded, but didn't say anything. Mike, on the other hand, was furious and said, "We didn't have any connection to begin with. Is that all? I didn't do anything, why was I handcuffed to the wall? I didn't do anything!"

Gao Guang hurriedly said, "Mike, shut up!"

The middle-aged man ignored Mike and just smiled, making a gesture of invitation.

Linda didn't speak to Gao Guang and the others either. She walked out with the middle-aged man. Gao Guang and the other two stared at each other, not knowing how to leave. At this moment, a staff member came in and expressionlessly led Gao Guang and the others out. They didn't say a word throughout the entire process and brought them to a building before turning around and leaving.

"Over here, over here."

Warton waved his hand not far away. After Gao Guang and the others walked in, he couldn't wait and said, "The client you met today turned out to be an arms dealer, buddy, you're really unlucky."

"Thank you." Gao Guang first thanked Warton, then immediately asked, "How did you know about this?"

Warton whispered, "I had Linda rescue you guys. Of course, she had to find out the details. The person you met is an arms dealer. As soon as the FBI arrested him, someone started pressuring them. Now the FBI won't charge him with smuggling arms, so you guys definitely have no problem."

Mike said, "It had nothing to do with us in the first place. We're really unlucky."

Warton mysteriously said, "Alright, stop complaining. This matter is very complicated, but as long as it has nothing to do with you guys, it's fine. Let's go to my place now and have a few drinks."
