Chapter 97 – Live for yourself

Catania, Sicily, Italy.

Antar and Nis checked into a hotel in the city center.

The hotel was arranged by Dorian, and the 500 euro room was only about twenty square meters, claiming to be the most Sicilian-style hotel.

Both ladies came from humble backgrounds and did not complain like Dorian. After all, it was Dorian's money that was being wasted.

They did not travel with Joja. One held a Swedish green card, and the other held a Cypriot passport, so they could easily enter Italy. Therefore, they came to Sicily with Dorian to take care of the preliminary work.

After Dorian sent the two to the hotel, he left. He wanted to secretly visit his parents and sister first and persuade them to go to Reggio Calabria in the north to live for a while.

The boss and Kaman were already there. They would rent a house in Reggio Calabria.

Dorian's parents could not only avoid the upcoming trouble but also take care of Muto, who was still learning to read.

Antar carried her luggage and looked for an empty space in the crowded room. Then, she struggled to unzip her suitcase with her right hand.

With this simple action, Antar shed tears of joy.

Joja made her a pair of gloves with a polymer thumb connection. Antar could control the bending degree of the new thumb through the bending force of the four intact fingers.

The polymer wrist guard that extended to the wrist could help the thumb withstand most of the impact.

Antar really didn't expect that the first thing Joja gave her would be so thoughtful.

Although the movement was not very flexible and even a bit clumsy, the new thumb could only solve some of the troubles in life, but it allowed Antar to get rid of the embarrassment when eating.

In the past, she could only hold a fork like a child, but now she could sit up straight and eat with normal movements.

Only those who have lost something know how precious a healthy body is. Since obtaining this pair of gloves, Antar has been trying.

Actually, it is not something particularly complicated, and it is also relatively clumsy and slow to use, but Antar really likes it and is grateful.

However, compared to the help in life, this "glove" is too helpful for Antar's shooting.

Because her hands were still intact, the new thumb, together with the specially customized rifle and pistol with a dedicated fixed grip, and the polymer wrist guard that extended to the wrist to help the thumb and the intact part of the hand withstand most of the impact, Antar's shooting ability has recovered to about 60 to 70 percent of its peak.

As long as there is targeted adjustment and training, Antar believes that she can do better.

She is a sniper. Losing her thumb did not make her lose the feeling of shooting, it just made her movements awkward and slow. But now the situation is different...

Nis quickly packed her luggage. Seeing Antar in tears because of a simple action, she hesitated for a moment, walked over, and patted her on the back, saying, "Believe in our boss, the future will definitely be better."

Antar spread her hands, moved her stiff thumb a bit, and said with a choked voice, "This is enough for me. I used to think that this would be my life...

Find a job, earn money for my family, and then die on some unknown battlefield one day...

No one will remember me..."

After saying that, Antar rubbed her eyes and smiled, "Now it's enough. I can face my family with dignity and tell them that I am not a burden...

My younger brother wants to go to college, but because of me, he can't apply to a university...

I have to work hard and, like Kaman did for Muto, send my younger brother to the university he dreams of."

Nis, as a fellow MSL woman, empathized with Antar, but Nis was more rebellious than Antar.

Seeing Antar's appearance of devoting herself to her family, Nis reached into Antar's suitcase, took out the headscarf, and threw it into the trash can.

"First, live for yourself. We must first treat ourselves as human beings before considering other things."

Antar did not blame Nis for her recklessness. She did not pick up the discarded headscarf but looked at Nis and shook her head, saying, "You must do it first..."

Antar's meaningful words made Nis stunned. After a moment of silence, she shook her head with a bit of frustration and said, "I don't know, but I'm living well now. This is the life I like.""Guns give me a sense of inner peace, being with... gives me a sense of security."

Antar didn't delve deeper into the conversation with Nis. She walked to the window of the room, pushed open the narrow window, letting the warm afternoon sun shine into the room.

Sitting on the small bed bathed in sunlight, Antar closed her eyes and took a deep breath, gently saying, "Do what you think is right. For us, it's enough to live in the present!"

Nis suddenly lost the desire to speak. She lay on her own bed and softly said, "Let's rest a bit. The boss won't be here for a couple of days. We'll go out for dinner tonight and take a stroll tomorrow."

Joja assisted Muto with his school enrollment procedures, then rented a house with a basement near the university.

Kaman, the country bumpkin, always seemed like a fish in water in Africa, but once he arrived in Italy, the old fellow completely wilted.

Kaman could speak English and Arabic, but they were of no use in Italy.

Muto still had time to learn and adapt, but Kaman couldn't.

The so-called developed country, the glitz and glamour, meant nothing to Kaman. From the moment Muto's procedures were completed, every minute spent here was torture for the old man.

Joja saw Kaman's discomfort very clearly. The old man's reaction was the same as his parents'.

Joja still remembered when he took his parents to the capital for medical treatment. They showed no excitement about being in the big city, but rather, they seemed a bit scared.

Cautious and timid, facing the fashionable city dwellers, they would instinctively feel inferior.

Feeling uncomfortable, even breathing felt uncomfortable. This was the state of some older rural people when they entered the city.

When it was time to say goodbye, Joja deliberately left Kaman and his son at the hotel, giving them some time alone.

Meanwhile, he searched online, found a car rental company, and rented a BMW X5 with his Greek passport.

Then Joja drove to a secluded place and put the equipment he brought with his universal toolbox into the trunk of the car.

The universal toolbox only had about 4 cubic meters of space. Joja packed everyone's equipment and brought it over. However, due to limited space, besides guns, Joja could only bring a few more grenades and RPGs. The rest would be prepared in Sicily depending on the situation.

If necessary, he could make a few 'Javelins' himself, the technology required for that was quite low.

However, in Joja's concept, using heavy weapons like anti-tank missiles in the cities of developed countries was not a good idea.

The guns in the trunk were already enough for the so-called Mori family to have a taste.
