Chapter 102 – Strange Neighbor

The girl was being pulled and screamed by the drunken man, struggling at the same time.

But the mother did not show too much excitement, but stepped forward to try to dissuade, but the drunken man was completely irrational, and the situation was getting worse.

Joja was not sure about the situation, and he and Kaman rushed over in three or two steps, quickly subdued the man.

The man was pressed down by Kaman's knee on his neck, and a vomit with a strong smell of alcohol sprayed out of his mouth. Then, possibly due to the blockage of the trachea, the man's face began to visibly redden.

Joja didn't want to cause trouble at his doorstep, and was about to pull Kaman to loosen up a bit, but the girl who had just been screaming desperately rushed up and grabbed Kaman's shoulder, trying to knock him down.

Kaman's first reaction to the attack was to lower his left shoulder and push forward with force, and then, as the girl approached him passively, he delivered a fierce back elbow to the girl's abdomen.

The girl didn't even have time to scream, she could only make a painful gasp, then covered her abdomen and fell to the ground, like a shrimp in hot water, lying on the ground writhing a few times before letting out a painful moan.

Joja watched as Kaman pulled out a small knife from his waist and was about to wipe it backwards. He hurriedly stepped forward to stop the African man.

After pulling Kaman up, Joja looked at the anxious mother squatting on the ground checking the girl's condition, and said with a shrug, "What's going on?"

As he spoke, Joja walked to the man's side and kicked him to the side, so he wouldn't suffocate. Then he looked at the mother and said, "Do you have any misunderstandings? Do you need me to help call an ambulance?"

Kaman's back elbow did not hit the girl's vital points, and her physical condition was really good, she looked thin but very strong.

As Joja spoke, the girl struggled to sit up, one hand covering her abdomen, the other supporting the ground, looking at Kaman with angry eyes.

Seeing that her daughter seemed to be okay, the mother stood up and apologized in English with an Eastern European accent, saying, "I'm sorry to have caused you trouble, please don't call the police. This is my husband, he got drunk last night after being a little upset, I'll take him back right away."

Joja waved to Nis, who was standing on the inside of the cabin door, to indicate that everything was fine here, and then decisively nodded and said, "Where do you live? I'll help you take him back. Those jogging guys will pass by here soon, don't let them misunderstand."

Joja didn't want to provoke the police for no reason, and this family didn't seem to want trouble either, so they cooperated. Joja drove and took the family to a vacation cabin about a kilometer below the mountain road.

At the door of the cabin, the mother first helped the girl, who was still having some difficulty moving, out of the car.

Looking at her husband who had already passed out, and the messy back seat of the car, she said apologetically and awkwardly, "Um, can you help me with something?"

At this point, Joja just wanted to end the unpleasant matter as soon as possible. He nodded at Kaman in the passenger seat and said, "Get him inside, I'm going to wash the car."

Kaman got out of the car expressionlessly, and under the resentful gaze of the girl, rudely grabbed the man's belt, pulled him out of the car, and then single-handedly carried the man, who weighed at least a hundred and seventy or eighty pounds, towards the open door of the cabin.

It was not a big deal, but it was very unpleasant.

After driving a few kilometers to find a car wash, giving the car wash guy a ten-dollar tip, and asking him to spray a couple of cans of air freshener, everything was done. When they returned to the cabin, it was already ten o'clock in the morning.

Nis greeted Joja and Kaman with coffee when they returned home, and after asking about what happened in the morning, she smiled and said, "I saw that man walking and falling into the road base on the other side this morning. I really didn't react when he rushed out."

Joja took a sip of coffee and shook his head, saying, "He's just a drunk. I've seen guys who drink early in the morning, but I've never seen a guy who drinks himself like this early in the morning."

That guy must be having a really hard time, otherwise he wouldn't have ended up like this."

Nis frowned and said, "I didn't see anything about him that deserves sympathy."

Joja shook his head and said, "It's hard for women to understand men's difficulties. Looking back, that man didn't do anything out of line except for pulling his daughter to take her home."

His wife didn't say a word of complaint in the end, and she was the first to apologize even though her daughter was beaten.

It was the girl who was screaming and struggling that made us misunderstand."

Saying that, Joja glanced at Kaman, who was sitting on the porch, and shook his head with a smile, "That family is lucky. If this had happened in Africa, they might not have survived."

Nis nodded with a smile, then looked at Joja curiously and said, "I thought you were interested in that girl. She's really pretty."

Joja thought for a moment about the girl's figure and appearance, shook his head and said, "She's really beautiful, but she's not my type.""If her mother were twenty years younger, and I wasn't in my current job, I might have had the courage to try it out."

Nis looked strange when she heard this and said, "Do you like strong women?"

Joja didn't notice Nis's expression. He shrugged and said, "I like sporty women, and it's better if they're not too thin. There are several famous Russian tennis girls, when they were young, they were my type."

Nis, with a strange expression, got up and walked towards the kitchen, saying, "What do you want for lunch? I'll start preparing now."

Joja stood up and said with a smile, "I'll do it. I'll make some spaghetti and then cook a black pepper steak. I can't stand tomato sauce anymore. Let's try a different flavor today."

Just as Joja was speaking, Kaman suddenly stood up at the door and knocked on it, saying, "Here comes the mother and daughter again. They must be here for us."

Joja glanced at the living room of the wooden house, gesturing for Nis to quickly tidy up the things that couldn't be seen, and then walked to the door to watch the mother and daughter slowly enter the lawn in front of the wooden house.

The mother had changed into a slim dress, and the sporty vibe was gone. She walked with a warm smile on her face, giving a refreshing feeling.

Seeing Joja walk to the door of the veranda, the mother paused under the veranda, then walked up and said, holding a transparent box of snacks, "I'm sorry to trouble you. These are snacks I made myself. My name is Valenkina, and this is my daughter Anna. My husband's name is Ivankovich."

"I'm sorry for the trouble this morning. My husband is very sorry for his rudeness this morning, so he wants to invite you to our place tonight."

"He's not in a good state right now and can't come to apologize in person, so he really hopes to apologize to you in person tonight."

Joja took a look at the unimpressive box of snacks. He couldn't understand why someone who had been beaten up would rush to apologize. So, after taking the gift, he said, "It's okay. We should be the ones apologizing, after all, we were the ones who started it."

"Forget about dinner. I think you should try to persuade your husband not to drink so much. He fell down the opposite road this morning, and a few meters away was a cliff."

Valenkina smiled bitterly and said, "My husband has some problems with work, and there's a dispute between him and Anna, so that's why."

"My husband is someone who can't keep things to himself. He knows about his condition this morning and is very regretful now."

"Please, in any case, give us a chance to apologize, or his emotions will be very unstable for many days to come."

Saying this, Valenkina looked at Joja's strange expression and said helplessly, "My husband has a mild form of OCD, and he has very strict demands on himself, so..."

Joja thought back to the man's condition this morning and couldn't imagine how someone with 'OCD' could allow himself to be like that. So, he subconsciously asked, "What does your husband do?"

Valenkina hesitated and said, "My husband is a salesperson for the Serbian company Euginbert."

"We were preparing to go with him to Tunisia for an exhibition, but their company's goods ran into trouble in Marsala."

"My husband's condition this morning is not his true nature. I'm sorry to trouble you, but he must have your forgiveness, or he will be uncomfortable for a long time."

Joja was originally going to shake his head and refuse, but when he heard the name 'Euginbert', he paused and nodded, saying, "Then at 8 o'clock tonight, we'll be there on time."
