Chapter 19 – Take a cold water bath for you guys

Chen Zhenghao finally felt fear gripping him.

He took out his phone and dialed 120, but the call wouldn't go through. After trying for over two minutes, all he got was a busy signal.

Chen Zhenghao's heart sank. The world outside was frozen over, and even the hospitals had ground to a halt.

Even if some hospitals were still operating, the heavy snow had sealed off the city, making it impossible for ambulances to come to the rescue.

Chen Zhenghao was a tough guy. After much hesitation, he decided to perform surgery on himself.

At the very least, he had to remove the crossbow bolt lodged in him.

After a difficult journey home, he took out a knife, an alcohol lamp, gauze, and hemostatic medicine from a drawer.

Having been in his fair share of fights, he always kept these supplies at home.

Chen Zhenghao cut open his pant leg with the knife and turned pale at the sight of his wound.

In the extreme cold, his leg wound had frozen over, which temporarily stopped the bleeding.

But the area around the wound was turning blue and purple, and he had lost all sensation in his calf.

Chen Zhenghao was in despair, knowing that in times like these, he could only rely on himself.

Luckily, as a hardened figure from the underworld, he pondered for a moment before starting the operation on himself.

Since his calf was already frostbitten, the cold numbed much of the pain.

So even without anesthesia, he managed to complete the surgery.

However, the process was so painful that he nearly passed out.

And that leg was clearly ruined.

Lying on the sofa and gasping for air, Chen Zhenghao's thoughts were consumed with hatred for Zhang Yi, who had shot him with an arrow.

"Zhang Yi, you little bastard, I swear I'll kill you, I swear it!"

Murderous intent filled Chen Zhenghao's eyes.

He wasn't joking; he truly intended to kill Zhang Yi.

Otherwise, how could he continue to hold sway in Tianhai City?

Chen Zhenghao picked up his phone and, since Zhang Yi had blocked him, reluctantly @mentioned him in the property owners' chat group.

"Zhang Yi, you son of a bitch, just you wait. If I don't kill you, I'll write my name Chen Zhenghao backwards!"

The property owners didn't really know what had happened.

But hearing that Zhang Yi had offended Chen Zhenghao, they all sweated for him.

Chen Zhenghao was a genuine thug with a vicious streak!

However, if they knew that Zhang Yi had shot him with an arrow and crippled his leg, they would probably be too scared to speak.

Some, though, were thrilled.

For instance, Mrs. Lin, who had been humiliated by Zhang Yi before, said gleefully, "Dog eat dog, good riddance. Neither of them are good people!"

"I hope that thug Chen Zhenghao kills Zhang Yi, that damned thing who dared to insult me!"

White Lotus Fang Yuqing also saw the message in the group.

She pursed her lips, actually hoping that Zhang Yi would get a beating from Chen Zhenghao.

How could Zhang Yi be so cold to her, not even bringing her food when she, a goddess, asked for it?

But no one in the group dared to make a peep, fearing they'd get dragged into the mess.

Zhang Yi saw the message and burst into laughter.

As long as he stayed in his safe house, he didn't care about a hundred Chen Zhenghaos!

Zhang Yi sent a voice message through his phone.

"What are you worth? Just a barking dog! Mess with me again, and I'll cripple your other leg too!"

The property owners were shocked to hear this voice message.

They hadn't expected Zhang Yi to dare to confront Chen Zhenghao!

And it seemed he had even injured one of Chen Zhenghao's legs.

Chen Zhenghao gripped his phone so hard he nearly broke it.

"Damn you, Zhang Yi, just you wait, I'll kill you!"

Zhang Yi was equally unapologetic: "You mongrel, come at me if you dare! Let's see who dies first!"

It had to be said, with the apocalypse upon them, Zhang Yi had let loose.

Without the constraints of social order and morality, he didn't have to show anyone face, and it felt great!

On the other side, Chen Zhenghao was fuming with rage.

After returning to his room and relying on the meager warmth of the air conditioner, he gradually regained sensation.

But the intense pain in his leg made him grimace.

Now, if he wanted to move, he could only rely on crutches.

After careful thought, Chen Zhenghao felt it wouldn't be difficult to kill Zhang Yi.

He believed he had been shot because he was caught off guard.

Now, with his guard up, he could simply call his henchmen over, storm into Zhang Yi's house, and kill him!

After all, with the snow disaster, hospitals and police stations were at a standstill.

It was the perfect time to kill someone.

Chen Zhenghao immediately called his henchmen, instructing them to bring weapons and help him kill Zhang Yi.

Many of Chen Zhenghao's henchmen lived nearby, and upon receiving his orders, they grabbed machetes, baseball bats, steel pipes, and other weapons and headed to Chen Zhenghao's place.

Seeing the wound on Chen Zhenghao's leg, the henchmen clamored to kill the perpetrator and avenge their boss.

Chen Zhenghao said coldly, "I'm not in serious trouble. After the snow melts in a few days, I'll just go to the hospital and recover."

"But this bastard dared to shoot me. Isn't that like digging one's own grave?"

"If I don't kill him, how can I, Chen Zhenghao, continue to operate?"

One of his underlings immediately said, "Bro Zhenghao, just tell me his apartment number, and I'll go chop him up right now!"

Chen Zhenghao nodded, "They live in apartment 2401 of this building. But be careful, that little bastard is sneaky and has a hand crossbow. He ambushed me with it."

One henchman, brandishing a steel pipe, exclaimed, "This guy has no honor! Using sneak attacks!"

Chen Zhenghao instructed, "Be careful when you go. I know he's alone at home. Just don't let him shoot you. Break down his door and do whatever you want with him!"

Chen Zhenghao's henchmen were desperados. Even knowing Zhang Yi had weapons, they were not afraid.

Instead, they were excited.

With the city sealed off by the snow disaster and lawlessness rampant, they could boldly go and beat someone up.

The malice in human nature was unleashed without restraint.

So, armed with their weapons, they headed to Zhang Yi's place, intending to break down the door.

Zhang Yi knew that Chen Zhenghao wouldn't let things go and would surely come for revenge.

But Zhang Yi wasn't the least bit nervous.

He sat at home, playing games while using split-screen to monitor the movements throughout the building.

He saw Chen Zhenghao's henchmen coming from a mile away.

His table was laden with equipment, ready to give them a warm welcome as soon as they arrived.

After all, those social misfits deserved to die, and Zhang Yi had no intention of being merciful.

Soon, Chen Zhenghao's dozen or so underlings arrived at Zhang Yi's doorstep.

Knowing that Zhang Yi had a hand crossbow, they approached with caution.

A few henchmen used wooden boards as shields in front of them.

When they reached Zhang Yi's door and saw that nothing was amiss, they started their assault.

"Open up!"

"Damn you, dare to shoot our Bro Zhenghao, we'll see if we don't kill you today!"

"Next year on this day will be your death anniversary, open up!"

They cursed and hammered at Zhang Yi's door with the hammers and iron rods they had brought, trying to break in and teach Zhang Yi a harsh lesson before handing him over to Chen Zhenghao.

Zhang Yi, playing his game, was calm and collected.

He was stuck at the first level's boss, having died seven or eight times without getting past, and his mood was sour.

Hearing the cursing and "bang bang bang" of the door being smashed outside, Zhang Yi yelled irritably, "Can't you put some muscle into it? Didn't you eat?!"

Hearing Zhang Yi's brazen taunts, the henchmen grew even angrier and hit the door harder.

But the security door, made of 20-centimeter-thick alloy, was difficult to open even with a small explosion, let alone their primitive smashing method.

After a lot of effort, the metal door only showed a few small white spots where the paint had chipped off.

Not to mention breaking in, they hadn't even made a dent.

The henchmen were dumbfounded.

"Holy shit, this door is solid metal! And so thick, how can we smash it?!"

"Damn it, how many enemies does this guy have?!"

The group of henchmen was stunned.

However, they had assured Chen Zhenghao that they would beat Zhang Yi half to death and bring him back.

Now unable to break the door, they couldn't go back and report, so they kept smashing and cursing outside.

Zhang Yi's game character died again.

Annoyed by the henchmen's shouting outside, he finally got fed up.

He went to the kitchen, attached a hose to the faucet, then climbed up to the shooting port.

The henchmen outside didn't notice anything above them and kept barking.

Zhang Yi sneered and turned on the faucet, spraying them with water.

The torrential flow in the narrow corridor was like a downpour, instantly soaking them.
