Soon, Zhang Yi heard Mrs. Lin's screams, like a pig being slaughtered.

After Chen Zhenghao burst into the house, he viciously slapped Mrs. Lin across the face.

"Old hag, this is what you get for swindling our neighbors' supplies. I'm just carrying out justice!"

Chen Zhenghao laughed heartily.

Mrs. Lin fell to the ground, dizzy and unable to speak for a long time.

Chen Zhenghao ordered his henchmen, "Search the place, take all the food and drink! These are the hard-earned supplies of our neighbors, we can't let her keep them!"

His men chuckled and squeezed into the kitchen and bedroom, rummaging through every possible hiding spot in Mrs. Lin's home.

They quickly found a large stash of instant noodles, bread, biscuits, and bottled water.

Mrs. Lin, crying, crawled over and clung to Chen Zhenghao's leg, pleading, "You can't take everything, we have our own supplies too. If you take it all, how will my grandson and I survive!"

Chen Zhenghao looked at her coldly and sneered, "Not my problem. Get lost!"

With that, he kicked her with his good leg, striking her face.

"Ah!!"

Mrs. Lin let out a pig-like scream and fell backward.

At that moment, a shout came from the bedroom: "Get out, all of you bastards!"

It was Mrs. Lin's grandson, Xiaohu, who had found his secretly hidden chocolate cookies discovered. His eyes reddened with rage.

He pulled a fruit knife from the drawer and stabbed one of the henchmen in the buttocks.

In the extreme cold, any injury could be fatal.

The henchman cried out in pain.

Turning his head and seeing a child had stabbed him, his eyes blazed with fury!

Damn it, how could he face anyone if this got out!

"Motherfucker!"

Enraged, the henchman kicked Xiaohu in the stomach with all his might!

A full-grown man's kick was too much for a six-year-old child to bear.

He screamed and was sent flying into the air, then crashed against the wall, sliding down like a piece of trash.

It was like the saying about hanging a painting, this scene was exactly as described.

Chen Zhenghao and the others laughed uproariously at the sight.

"Hahaha! Old Five, when did you learn such impressive legwork!"

"To send that little brat flying, impressive indeed!"

The henchman, known as Old Five, pulled the knife from his buttocks and boasted, "Cool, right? You guys should have filmed that moment!"

Mrs. Lin, injured herself, had intended to play dead on the ground.

But seeing her beloved grandson kicked so hard, she cried out in despair, "Xiaohu, my grandson!"

And she rushed toward Xiaohu.

Chen Zhenghao pointed at Mrs. Lin and declared righteously, "This is the price you pay for deceiving our neighbors. I'm carrying out justice!"

After that, the group laughed and left with their spoils from Mrs. Lin's home.

Zhang Yi watched this cruel scene with raised eyebrows.

Seeing the despicable Mrs. Lin's family get beaten, he felt quite satisfied and had no sympathy for them.

However, this scene also signified that the civilized society's rules that once governed the property owner's building were starting to crack.

More brutal events would follow.

After all, once a crack appears in the ice, it quickly widens.

"Alas, it's just a pity it doesn't have much to do with me."

"Watching them fight to the death over a bit of supplies, while I can only lie low at home, is really boring."

Zhang Yi lay on the imported sofa, smiling and sighing.

Then, he posted the video he had taken to the property owners' chat group.

In the chat group, the swindled property owners were still cursing Mrs. Lin nonstop.

Until they saw the video Zhang Yi posted.

Seeing Mrs. Lin's home being smashed by Chen Zhenghao and his gang, and both her and her grandson getting beaten, with the swindled supplies taken away, the property owners were delighted.

"Hahaha, serves the big swindler right!"

"Bro Zhenghao is mighty! That's how you deal with such people, with thunderous methods!"

"That's the price of being a swindler!"

"Haha, trying to steal a chicken only to lose the rice, it's hilarious!"

Although the property owners knew that Chen Zhenghao wouldn't return the supplies to them, they still felt genuinely happy to see Mrs. Lin beaten.

For a moment, some even regarded Chen Zhenghao as a hero, singing his praises.

"Bro Zhenghao is mighty!"

"Truly a big brother of society, with a sense of justice!"

"If it weren't for Bro Zhenghao, we'd have no way to deal with such shameless scum."

"Bro Zhenghao, be careful. That old hag is shameless and vicious, watch out for her reporting you to the police."

Some even worried for Chen Zhenghao, offering him advice and strategies.

This time, Chen Zhenghao gained both fame and resources, without provoking a collective boycott from the property owners.

Zhang Yi watched the chat and pursed his lips, shaking his head with a sneer.

The property owners were oblivious to one thing.

If Chen Zhenghao could raid Mrs. Lin's home today, he could just as easily raid theirs tomorrow.

And as people gradually lose hope in the outside world, such events will come swiftly.

However, seeing the property owners still chatting merrily in the group proved one thing.

That is, everyone still had a certain amount of supplies.

Most families' situations weren't as dire as they claimed.

Many in the Yuelu Residential Area worked in the warehouse district and had the habit of stockpiling supplies.

Even those not working there would buy discounted goods to store at home.

A box of nearly expired instant noodles could sustain a family of three for four to five days if rationed.

So, even though it's very difficult to stay well-fed and warm now, if they economize, they can survive for a while.

In his previous life, Zhang Yi had lasted a month before being overrun and eaten alive by his starving neighbors.

Wealth should not be flaunted, everyone understood that.

The reason they all cried poor was to avoid others asking to borrow supplies.

Of course.

They were just barely surviving; as for the quality of life, that was basically unrelated to their current situation.

Zhang Yi stopped looking at the chat.

He took a target from his other-dimensional space and placed it on the wall.

Then he picked up his hand crossbow and compound bow, starting to practice his shooting skills.

Even though his safe house was as solid as a steel fortress, one must never be complacent in the apocalypse.

Only by practicing survival skills relentlessly every day could he ensure his survival to the end.

Besides, practicing shooting was also an enjoyable pastime for Zhang Yi.

As for firearms, he didn't need to practice.

He had a shooting association membership card and knew how to use guns.

While not an expert marksman, a gun in hand was a significant deterrent!

With only a hundred bullets, which unlike arrows couldn't be reused, it was better to conserve them.
