Chapter 64 – Different morning

After a while of commotion in the morning, the two of them obediently finished breakfast and set off for school as usual.

They left a bit later than usual, but it was still within an acceptable range.

Sunny Xu and Starry Lin walked side by side on the road leading to No. 15 Middle School.

People were coming and going on the two opposite streets, with shops lining the streets and a lively atmosphere. In the middle was one of the busiest roads in the city center.

Some of the students at No. 15 Middle School lived nearby or walked from the nearest station, so they could see high school students wearing blue and white school jackets or white shirts for summer along the way.

Some of them walked in groups, talking and laughing loudly, while others sat at breakfast stalls on the side of the road, wolfing down their food with their heads down. There were also some holding books, shaking their heads and exchanging thoughts on the side of the road.

From time to time, motorcycle riders would zoom past them, and during such times, ordinary high school students were easily attracted by their attention.

Especially those motorcycles with exaggerated designs and sleek lines, they could attract the envious gazes of a group of young people.

Sunny Xu, who was focused on his studies, pretended not to see, but his gaze couldn't help but drift in that direction.

"That one looks pretty cool..."

He couldn't help but mutter, "Is that so?"

Starry Lin next to him also looked over and casually responded when she saw the motorcycle parked on the side of the road.

"It looks similar to the one next to it."

"They're completely different."

She seemed to not quite understand this kind of thing.

...

However, what Sunny Xu himself might not have noticed was that standing at the intersection, he and Starry Lin were also the focus of the crowd's attention.

Even if the girl's beautiful face couldn't be seen clearly from a distance, Starry Lin's long black hair and model-like slender figure were eye-catching. Not only the students on their way to school, but also passersby and riders passing by on the road couldn't help but glance at them.

The two of them were waiting for a traffic light on the side of the road when Sunny Xu suddenly noticed some food residue on the girl's mouth, so he quietly reminded her:

"Look at you, you still have food on your mouth."

"..."

Starry Lin wiped her face, but the food residue didn't come off. She naturally tugged at the boy's sleeve:

"Help me wipe it."

"Oh."

Sunny Xu didn't think there was anything wrong with it either. His fingertips touched the smooth and tender cheek, and the silky hair brushed against his hand.

When he casually helped the girl remove the food residue, Sunny Xu suddenly remembered something.

"Starry, you asked me a lot of questions this morning. Now it's my turn to ask you."

"Sure."

Starry Lin answered readily.

"If you have any questions, just ask. I don't want you to hold back. I always speak my mind."

She seemed to still be concerned about what happened in the morning.

You're the one who's strange. Sunny Xu silently criticized, and continued:

"Last night, what did Sister Lian ask you?"

"Oh, about that," the girl clapped her hands and suddenly realized, "I actually wanted to tell you when I got back last night, but I forgot."

"From your expression, it seems like nothing happened?"

"Yeah, I thought I was going to be exposed," Starry Lin sighed, "I even wondered if Sister Lian was a government official from the 'organization' you mentioned. I was on edge for a while."

Sunny Xu listened silently without speaking. In fact, he had the same speculation deep down, but he had never dared to ask actively.

"...But it turned out not to be the case?"

"Right." The girl nodded, her gaze looking across the zebra crossing, "It seems like Sister Lian just sensed that something was off and wanted to pry some truth out of me."

"What did you answer?"

"I don't know."

"...What?"

"I mean, I don't know anything about supernatural phenomena. I wanted someone else to tell me. Besides, even if there is evidence, I would definitely confess honestly. But if it's just at the level of 'suspicion', even if I really said it, others might not believe it, right?"

This time, Sunny Xu nodded in agreement.

It wasn't because he "forgot about his sister after making friends." Communication requires a standpoint, and this is a simple truth.

If they wanted them to honestly explain the situation, they first had to confirm whether the other person's level of understanding of this issue was on the same level as theirs. He didn't plan to hide anything, but if the other person was someone who knew nothing about haunted houses, ghosts, or possessors, the result would only be a futile attempt at communication. As Starry Lin said, their experiences in the past month can only be described as unbelievable. Even if they were to tell the whole truth, it would be hard for anyone to believe.

"Oh, by the way, I just thought of something."

At this moment, the green light in front finally lit up. The impatient crowd on the side of the road rushed towards the opposite side, taking the two of them along.

Starry Lin grabbed Sunny's arm to prevent them from being separated, and said, "Will we have class today?"

"Huh?"

"Think about it, with such a big incident happening, a strange person resembling a madman broke into the school, and Little An completely destroyed the classrooms. Apart from that, where will our classmates go to study later?"

"If we don't have class, someone should notify us." Sunny thought for a moment and answered, "And look, everyone on the road is going to school. Anyway, we'll know when we get there."

...

When they were close to their destination, Sunny Xu saw a group of people crowded at the entrance of No. 15 Middle School.

This scene was obviously unusual.

In the past, during school hours, there would be a crowd of people, but it wouldn't be like now, where everyone was blocked at the entrance, like before a market opens.

"What's going on? Is the school gate closed?"

Sunny Xu and Starry Lin exchanged glances.

A smile appeared on the face of the girl with long hair, as if she had thought of the possibility of having a day off today.

But she didn't have time to be happy for long.

A slightly chubby, mature-looking boy squeezed out of the crowd, and when he saw the two of them standing outside the crowd, he quickly waved at them.

"You guys are here!"

"What's going on?"

Sunny Xu asked directly.

"Can we enter the school?"

"Yes, we can. There's someone causing trouble up ahead, so we have to squeeze in."

"Why?"

"Why else? It's because of what happened last night!"

Wang Yue slapped his head in annoyance.

"Some parents of the students requested the school to cancel classes, and they're making a fuss over there. Now the entrance is crowded with parents who want to know the details, as well as students who are just watching the commotion..."

"What's the result?"

The girl beside him asked eagerly.

"Will classes be canceled or not?"

Wang Yue glanced at Starry Lin and hesitated to look her in the eye as he answered Sunny Xu, "Um, the school said they still need to discuss it."

The two of them looked at each other.

Starry Lin's shoulders slumped.

"It looks like we still have to go to class..."

"Yeah, I saw students from other grades and classes going in."

"What about our class?" Sunny Xu asked, "I remember when I left last night, our classroom was a mess..."

"The second-year liberal arts students are temporarily having classes in the staircase classrooms, and the classes will be combined."

At that moment, the bell for class rang, indicating that morning self-study had begun.

Wang Yue waved at them.

"You guys should hurry."

"What about you?"

Upon hearing this question, Wang Yue immediately put on a sad face.

"The parent causing trouble at the school is my mom..."

Sunny Xu couldn't help but laugh and patted his shoulder.

"Take care."

Even when Starry Lin passed by him, she didn't forget to say, "Hope your mom does well."

The two of them first went around the second floor of the teaching building where they originally had classes.

As soon as they reached the stairs, they saw a bunch of paint buckets and scaffolding outside the classroom of their class. There were also a few people in blue clothes, all construction workers.

The other four classes on this floor had temporarily moved to the staircase classrooms, and it was empty everywhere.

Some early students had already helped move all the tables out of the classroom and piled them up by the corridor, so that the students from their class could come and claim them later.

The scene was chaotic, with complaints filling the air. It wasn't until the gloomy homeroom teacher walked over and shouted a few times that no one dared to speak.

Sunny Xu and Starry Lin found their own desks and packed all the books and stationery that could fit into their bags. The rest had to be carried.

When they were about to reach the staircase classrooms, Sunny Xu saw a tall and thin male teacher with glasses being surrounded by a group of students.

Sunny Xu recognized him as the Chinese teacher of Class 5.

As a homeroom teacher of the liberal arts fast track class, compared to their own homeroom teacher, this Mr. Yang had a much better temper and often got along well with the students.

Different teachers had different styles of interacting with students, and teachers like Mr. Yang had their advantages, such as being easily loved by the students. On the other hand, they also had their flaws, especially in certain situations where they needed to be strict...

"Old Yang, we all know what happened. How can we still have class in this situation?" A student complained directly to him, "Isn't the school being irresponsible?"

"We're about to enter our senior year, it would be irresponsible to suspend classes on a whim." Teacher Yang replied somewhat helplessly.

This response clearly did not satisfy the students, who immediately started making a fuss again. Someone shouted, "What if the murderer breaks in again?" which was met with a chorus of "Yeah, exactly!"

"Alright, alright, quiet down for a moment."

Teacher Yang raised his hands, signaling them to calm down, his face showing a look of headache.

"First of all, we haven't yet determined the identity of the intruder, so don't casually label someone as a 'murderer'; secondly, the school has been thoroughly searched inside and out, there are police watching the entrance, and security personnel patrolling the school. No one can break in, all you need to do is focus on your studies."

"But even our class president almost got into trouble, how can we be at ease..."

Before the person could finish speaking, a soft female voice came from behind.

"Are you calling me?"

Seigetsu Zhu, holding a pile of test papers, walked over from the back of the crowd.

Thanks to her arrival, Teacher Yang finally breathed a sigh of relief and quickly said.

"Zhu, there's something I need to tell you first, the study groups will have to be suspended for a while."

"Mm, I know."

The girl nodded slightly.

"And listen up, everyone." Teacher Yang said to the surrounding students, "Unless it's urgent, you're not allowed to leave the school during lunchtime, and you should go home immediately after school. Don't linger around the area, understand?"

After dropping this sentence, Teacher Yang hurriedly left.

"...Just like that?"

"Looks like we still have to attend classes."

Facing her disappointed classmates, Seigetsu Zhu reminded them with a smile:

"Don't be sad, everyone. I think there are benefits, at least the teachers won't drag out the classes anymore."

"That's true...Hey, Seigetsu, you seem to have dark circles under your eyes?"

Someone asked with concern.

"Did you get scared after encountering that incident and couldn't sleep well last night?"

Seigetsu Zhu subconsciously touched the shadow under her eyes with her fingernail and responded with a smile:

"Indeed, a little..."

Her gaze passed through her classmates and landed on a boy and a girl at the other end.

"Excuse me, everyone."

Under the watchful eyes of everyone, Seigetsu Zhu walked up to the striking pair.
