Chapter 29 – The gas of evil spirits

A car parked in front of the building.

A man who looked a bit thin but obviously in a good mood carried bags of food and headed home.

There were people surrounding him, taking pictures with their phones.

This was the home of Zhang Yue, the most popular food blogger on the internet recently.

Wei Yuan was among the crowd and wiped the water symbol over his eyes. After obtaining the spiritual power, he had gained some slight Daoism and had become more proficient in opening the eyes, which was no longer as complicated as before.

Zhang Yue's address was obtained through his contact with Zhou Yi.

He suspected that there was something wrong with this man.

Having a good appetite was not a big problem, but the screen images could make even ghosts hungry. This was obviously not something that could be explained by having a good appetite. After opening his eyes, Wei Yuan saw the souls of some cats and dogs on the road. When he looked at Zhang Yue, he felt strange.

It was neither a ghost nor a monster.

There was no evil aura on him.

The man talked to his fans for a while and then turned around and walked upstairs.

Wei Yuan withdrew his gaze.

..............

The impulsive investigation did not yield meaningful results.

Wei Yuan was not discouraged. For him, it was best not to deal with ghosts and monsters.

Back at the museum, there were no customers even though it was noon. Wei Yuan casually placed a bag on the table, making a loud noise. Inside was a collection of basic talismans compiled by the Celestial Master's Palace, which recorded the effects, sects, and methods of drawing most of the basic talismans. Not to mention that it required merits to exchange talismans from the Lying Tiger Waist Badge. The records in the Great Han Treasury only went up to the Tang Dynasty.

From the Tang Dynasty to the present, it had been almost a thousand years.

The Lying Tiger Waist Badge did not include the newly emerged talismans.

"I see..."

"Evil-Expelling Talisman, Calming and Soothing Talisman, Breaking Evil and Destroying Devil Talisman, Town House and Expelling Evil Talisman, Town House and Offending the Seven Killing Talisman, and Law Food Talisman, Protective Talisman..."

Wei Yuan looked through these basic talismans and their effects, preparing to select some to practice and accumulate more. In addition to the part of the inventory applied for from the Special Operations Group, he could have more methods to deal with emergencies.

Yellow paper, talisman pen, cinnabar.

These were still the Celestial Master's Palace's inventory.

He did not belong to the Special Operations Group now, and his name was not on the disciple's book of the Celestial Master's Palace.

But these basic talismans and elixirs could be prepared for him.

Wei Yuan thought that the events he had handled before had earned some merits for the local Special Operations Group. They were returning the favor, and he did not refuse but accepted them generously.

Having the talisman collection in hand, Wei Yuan was still troubled when drawing talismans.

These talismans were different from those obtained by merits from the Lying Tiger Waist Badge.

With merit exchange, a ready-made talisman could be placed in the spiritual platform, which could last for about three months. During these three months, the carving of the talisman would be effortless, and only diligent practice was needed to master the experience contained in the spiritual platform talisman. After the spiritual platform talisman dissipated, carving talismans would be just as easy.

Under normal circumstances, many preparations were required when drawing talismans, such as an altar, footwork, incantations, and some even required the opening of the altar. Unless Wei Yuan was willing to bleed and inject spiritual power, the process would be quite complicated and difficult. It took him a whole afternoon until the sky was dark to barely draw five simple talismans. While he was meditating, Wei Yuan suddenly heard a loud noise.

He instinctively opened his eyes.

Two young girls in their early twenties walked in curiously.

Visitors had arrived.

Wei Yuan raised his spirits, stood up, and greeted the two.

After all, this was a museum that was open to the public. But when he looked at the two young girls, he was slightly taken aback. He felt a faint sense of disharmony in the girl on the right. Generally speaking, the vital energy of young men and women is very strong, like burning flames, but these two people felt weak and listless.

It was like throwing ice into a burning bonfire.

Wei Yuan dipped his hand in the symbol water and brushed it over his eye sockets.

The environment around him and the lines of the real world dimmed for a moment, but the invisible world became clear before his eyes. He turned his head slightly to look at the two girls.

He saw flames of vital energy and yang energy condensing on their shoulders and heads. There were three lamps on a person's shoulders, which were proof of being alive. As long as these three lamps were still there, ordinary ghosts and monsters would find it difficult to harm people. But now, the flames of the three lamps on the girl's right shoulder were entwined with faint black lines.

One of the lamps was about to go out.

Wei Yuan pondered.

Had they been targeted by newly born demon spirits?

"Boss, do you sell things here?"

A crisp female voice brought Wei Yuan back to reality. The two customers had already wandered around the museum without him noticing. Wei Yuan shook his head and replied, "Sorry, this is a private museum. The items inside are not for sale."

It can be hard to make great work when its stolen from "pawread dot com".

The slightly tall girl on the left looked regretful. She saw the talisman book and the yellow symbols and cinnabar next to it and became interested. She asked, "What about these symbols? Did you draw them yourself, boss?"

Wei Yuan thought for a moment and said, "Yes, I drew them myself. If you want, I can give you one."

He took out a protective talisman from the talisman book. It was originally a talisman used when ascending the altar, but it also had some defensive capabilities against ordinary evil spirits. Wei Yuan handed the talisman to the girl who looked a little listless and handed it to her, saying, "This talisman is for you."

His voice paused, and he saw the lamp on the girl's head about to fall. He reminded her, "Your forehead is a bit dark recently. Please try not to be alone and stay in crowded places as much as possible. If you have to walk on a dark road, remember not to look back."

Tao Siwen took the yellow talisman and was slightly stunned. She had had several nightmares recently. It always seemed like someone was following her from behind, and no matter how she ran, the footsteps were getting closer and closer. She was scared awake yesterday, crying and afraid to sleep. She sat on the bed all night. She came out with her girlfriend today to go shopping and relax, but ended up in this kind of place, feeling a bit depressed.

Hearing these words, she instinctively looked up and saw the man opposite her with a warning expression.

There was a sheathed sword on the wall behind her, and a gust of wind blew, making the bell on the door ring. This place seemed to have some age to it. The table and display cabinets were all old-fashioned green wooden frames, and the paint was peeling off, giving off a feeling of yellowing from the 1980s.

There were yellow talismans on the walls, doors, and under the sword. There were also yellow talismans on two wooden boxes on the cabinet, and for some reason, the cinnabar on them was darker.

Dang, dang.

The bell rang lightly.

She seemed to see two paper dolls.

This place felt a bit evil...

Tao Siwen's face turned pale, clutching the talisman, she pulled her girlfriend and walked out.

..............

Wei Yuan watched as the two girls left and looked at the sky. It was already dusk and was turning into night.

It was getting dark.

He picked up the sword and hung it on his back, put the talisman in his waist pocket, and took out a broken sword and placed it behind his waist."I'm going out for a bit, you guys watch the house."

A responding voice came from the empty museum.

Wei Yuan pushed the door and left.

The museum door closed, and the bell on the door rang softly.

Dang...
