Vol.1 - Chapter 114 – Private Mine Exploration

"Six pickaxes, 60 pounds!"

Since Lilith insisted, the owner of the Lucky House naturally didn't say anything.

Joan of Arc and the others looked at each other, and they naturally couldn't understand the meaning in the secret language of the two extraordinary individuals.

Loras jumped and said:

"Why are these pickaxes so expensive? Are they made of gold?"

Lilith glanced at several noble boys and said lightly:

"Don't you want to see the world of extraordinary individuals? If you don't want to buy tickets, wait outside for us. Su Li and I will go in alone."

After hearing Lilith's words, the four of them finally reacted. It turned out that the 60 gold pounds were used to buy tickets to enter the private mine.

They obediently paid for Su Li and Lilith, and the owner finally took out six broken pickaxes from the corner.

"One for each person."

Taliesin with pointed ears said solemnly:

"Don't blame me for not reminding you. You can freely rob and kill inside the private mine. It's extremely dangerous inside. Think carefully before going in."

Lilith looked at Joan of Arc and the others, with a smile on her face.

Joan of Arc was the first to take the pickaxe and looked at Harrington and the others.

Seeing his sister take one, Simon hesitated for a moment and also took one.

After everyone took the pickaxes, Taliesin spoke:

"Walk along the small path inside until the end, show the pickaxes, and someone will give you protective clothing."

Lilith had been here a few times, so she didn't need someone to lead the way. She followed the secret passage behind the counter and went down the small path. Everyone knew that there was another world behind the back of this shop.

The winding path went deep underground, and the air gradually became hot and stuffy. Lilith took out a few torches and lit them, distributing them to everyone, except Su Li who didn't take a torch.

He was an extraordinary individual who passed through the night, and he was like a fish in the dark.

After walking for hundreds of meters, everyone discovered a huge bronze door.

There were three people guarding the door, all of them were sub-humans.

One was tall and mighty, with a long nose and big ears. He was a rare Oliphant tribe elephant person, estimated to be three to four meters tall, as strong as a legendary giant.

The other had a simple bear head, with explosive muscles and a bare chest covered in thick chest hair, wearing a large gold chain, full of wildness.

The last one was cute, shorter than a goblin, covered in fur, looking like a small raccoon. A large tail stuck out from behind his pants.

The three of them were sitting around a wooden table, actually playing extraordinary cards to pass the time.

When they saw the six people carrying pickaxes approaching, the raccoon sub-human sitting on a high chair jumped down and pointed to the wardrobe next to the giant door, saying:

A quick look at tinyurl.com/2p9emv8w will leave you more fulfilled.

"Take the protective clothing yourself, remember to wear it properly, the pollution inside is deadly."

Opening the wardrobe, there were protective clothing of all sizes inside, but the styles were quite old, not as advanced as the ones behind Chenix's Gate.

Joan of Arc picked up a bird-faced mask and smelled it, immediately covering her mouth and dry heaving a few times.

"This mask is too smelly."

The raccoon squinted his eyes, grinned, and revealed a golden tooth. He smiled and said:

"If you don't want the old one, you can spend five pounds to exchange for a new filter."

Loras with golden curly hair smiled and said:

"Don't be so fussy, it's just a protective mask...urgh..."

Before he finished speaking, he immediately started dry heaving.

Simon couldn't help but ask:

"Are there any new protective clothing? These look too worn out."

The raccoon rolled his eyes:

"No, wear it if you want, and by the way...the pickaxe money is non-refundable."

Helpless, the six of them, including Loras with a black face, paid another 30 gold pounds and changed the filters.

Wearing the heavy protective clothing, the several noble youths were already panting from the heat. They were no longer as eager for adventure.

But Joan of Arc gritted her teeth and didn't say anything more except for complaining that the protective mask was too smelly.

When everyone was ready, the elephant sub-human and the bear sub-human put down the playing cards and pushed open the heavy bronze door together.

Boom!

The sound of the door scraping against the ground echoed, revealing a narrow gap that only allowed one person to pass through.

Even before entering, a wave of heat had blown in through the gap.

The elephant sub-human said in a deep voice:

"After entering, if you want to come out, look for the red arrow."

"If you get lost and die inside, no one will collect your body. Friendly reminder, don't go back the same way. This is just the entrance, and knocking on the door won't open it. That's the rule."

After all six people entered, Lilith finally explained:

"After entering, Su Li will walk in the front and be responsible for exploring the way. I will follow behind to cover the rear. Remember, once you encounter any creatures, be vigilant. There is never a shortage of out-of-control monsters, distorted slaves, crazy adventurers, and enemies with ill intentions inside."

"If you encounter danger, don't run around. Lie down in place. When you see a corpse, be the first to strike."

The first half of the sentence was for Joan of Arc and the others to hear, while the second half was a reminder for Su Li.

Facing the pitch-black environment, the several noble youths were both nervous and excited. The light from the torches could only illuminate a few meters ahead.

In the hot and stuffy environment, after only fifteen minutes of walking, everyone was covered in sweat.

Loras, carrying the heavy pickaxe and holding the torch, asked:

"I'm so tired. I really don't understand why we came to a deserted mining area that has been mined countless times."

Lilith answered:

"If you continue forward for three more hours and reach the depths of the mining area, you will see the ore that you saw in the ghost market outside everywhere. As long as you can carry it, each person can earn back the ticket money by carrying more than ten kilograms."

Su Li's eyes lit up when he heard this.He had a thief's belt, which eliminated the need to worry about weight. It seemed that this trip to the private mine was Lilith's way of making him money!

"Of course, if you want to back out now, don't ever mention being extraordinary or being adventurers again. We can carry you and leave here quickly."

Upon hearing Lilith's disdainful tone, none of the four spoke up.

As nobles, they had all taken knight classes and were physically stronger and more enduring than ordinary people.

The mine tunnel was full of forks.

With Su Li there, they didn't need to discern directions in the dark. Following the signposts, the six-person team moved quickly.

As they delved deeper, bodies began to appear around them.

Their protective suits were mostly torn, some of their clothes were stripped off, leaving only rotten old skeletons. It was unknown how long they had been dead.

Even so, the cautious Su Li still used the Blade of Loss to finish them off one by one.

He was no rookie. As a Night Watcher, he knew better than anyone how terrifying the uncontrollable ones could be.

After walking for another half an hour, the bodies on the ground became more and more numerous. The group slowed down, and Su Li was finishing off the bodies one by one when suddenly, a gun barrel poked out from a pile of bodies about ten meters away from him and fired.

Almost simultaneously, gun barrels poked out from the forks in the distant darkness and fired. In an instant, the narrow mine tunnel echoed with the harsh sound of gunfire, and the light from the bullets illuminated the bodies scattered all over the ground.

They had walked into an ambush!
