Vol.2 - Chapter 7 – Goddess's Dream Trial

The second day in Delan Becca was a sunny day.

Because of the heavy rain yesterday, Delan Becca was clear today, without any haze.

Early in the morning, Su Li had just come out of the washroom when someone knocked on the door.

It was Lilith who knocked on the door.

"Just received a notice, have breakfast and then go to the training ground in the backyard of the church for the internal selection competition."

Su Li was puzzled and asked, "So soon?"

Lilith shrugged and said to Su Li, "There are many Night Watchers participating in the internal selection. The first to arrive will participate in the trial, so it's not surprising."

"Anyway, let's have breakfast first and then go to the training ground."

Since everything was arranged by Lilith, Su Li had no objections and followed her to have breakfast.

In the morning, the Black Night Church was filled with clergy and nuns wearing their uniforms, mixed with many Night Watchers heading towards the cafeteria.

Fortunately, the huge Adriatic Cathedral had eight cafeterias, and each cafeteria was not crowded.

They had a sumptuous breakfast with many monks.

Su Li followed Lilith through the corridor with statues and oil paintings, and then arrived at a church park with fountains, white doves, small statues, and flower bridges. Finally, they arrived at the first stop of the extraordinary battle, the trial ground.

It was a huge venue that looked like an opera house.

The main gate was wide open.

Guarded by two Night Watchers wielding double swords.

Lilith showed the letter from Lord Mourinho and led Su Li into the venue.

Inside the venue, the decoration was luxurious.

Under the huge crystal chandelier, hundreds of red velvet chairs were neatly arranged from low to high.

Many Night Watchers had already arrived at the venue and filled up the seats.

Lilith led Su Li to the back of the venue and sat down casually. Su Li asked in a low voice, "Wasn't it supposed to be an audition?"

"Why is it held in an opera house?"

Before Lilith could answer, a man with unruly dark green hair in the front row sneered with his narrow eyes, "Who is this country bumpkin from the Serede branch that I've never seen before?"

Su Li frowned and looked at the Night Watcher with a pale face like a ghost, but didn't say anything.

Lilith saw the man and wasn't angry. Instead, she showed a disdainful smile and said, "Who is this noisy person? I thought a crow had flown in and started squawking early in the morning, but it turns out to be a dog."

Upon hearing Lilith's sarcastic words, the man clicked his tongue, and several Night Watchers who were with him also showed displeasure.

"Who are you calling a dog?!"

A delicate girl, as beautiful as a porcelain doll, glared at Lilith.

The man who spoke first didn't care at all and said, "Lilith, no matter how sharp your mouth is, it can't change the fact that you are a loser. Why did the Serede branch send a kid? Are you just here to make up the numbers?"

Lilith, who was usually quiet, looked at the man with a cold smile and said, "Tock, no matter how many people come, it doesn't necessarily mean anything."

"Oh? Is that so?"

The man called Tock looked at Su Li and said with a smile, "Kid, hasn't your leader told you? The trial is conducted in the dream of the Goddess. Only by passing the trial on the ladder can you enter the preliminary competition."

"It's not surprising that Lilith didn't tell you, because your Serede branch has never entered the preliminary competition as representatives of the Black Night Church."

Su Li calmly said, "Lilith indeed didn't tell me, but I seem to remember that my teacher told me. He has won the first place in the entire extraordinary battle."

Upon hearing Su Li's words, the low-ranking Night Watchers under Tock showed strange expressions.

In their impression, the Black Night Church had not been able to win the championship for more than ten years.

Tock sneered, "Who is your teacher? Is he from the Eternal Sun Church or the Knowledge and Wisdom Church?"

Su Li didn't answer. A tall middle-aged man nearby said, "Why is the Gauls diocese so lacking in ambition? Are we, the Black Night Church, worse than the other churches?!"

Tock, who led the Gauls diocese, smiled proudly and said, "Of course not. This time, our Gauls diocese will definitely help the church regain its glory."

The tall middle-aged man didn't look at Tock, but asked Su Li, "Kid, who is your teacher?"

Su Li calmly said, "I come from Serede, and my teacher is naturally Mourinho."

Upon hearing this name, the Night Watchers around them all turned their heads.

The Seat of Gods.

The number one under the starry sky.

As an extraordinary member of the Black Night Church, no one would not recognize Mourinho's name.

As for why he took over as the bishop of the Serede branch, the outside world was not very clear.

"Mourinho is accepting students?"

Tock obviously didn't believe it. The outside world thought that this high and mighty Seat of Gods went to the remote town to become a bishop just because of the harsh conditions there. They didn't believe that the spokesperson of the Goddess, who had been in the Adriatic headquarters for more than ten years, would accept a student from Serede.

A young man who had been sitting next to Tock all along showed a confident smile and said to Su Li, "Kid, remember my name. I'm Gauss. No matter whose student you are, remember me."

Su Li scratched his ear and said without much enthusiasm, "Oh, I didn't remember."

If the other party had treated him with respect, Su Li would naturally be more friendly, but seeing Tock looking down on the Serede branch, he couldn't be bothered to respond.

Gauss, the young man with purple pupils, had a gloomy expression. He smiled and said, "I hope you can survive the preliminary competition so that I can personally teach you how to be a person."

Su Li nodded and said seriously, "I look forward to that day."

Gauss was about to say something else, but the noisy venue suddenly fell silent.

On the high platform of the opera-like trial ground, a team of Night Watchers wearing black clothes and carrying double swords walked onto the stage.Under the guard of a group of swordsmen, a middle-aged man of average height but with an exceptionally cold demeanor stepped onto the stage.

This man had two rectangular silver sword cases hanging on either side of him, each containing six standard cross swords. His hair was neatly combed in a simple side parting, and he moved with a swift and decisive manner.

Green Dash.

The captain of the Black Swordsman Squad of the Adria Church.

"Ladies and gentlemen, good morning. Thank you for traveling all the way to Adria to participate in the internal selection of the Night Church's Battle of the Extraordinary."

"Now, let me briefly introduce the selection rules."

The captain of the Adria Church's Black Swordsman Squad tossed out a black seal.

It was a palm-sized black top.

As the top spun in the center of the field, a door composed of stars and night instantly opened quietly on the stage of the opera house.

"The audition is both a selection and a mission."

"The mission objective is to enter the Dream of the Goddess and kill as many monsters as possible."

"You can use any means to enter, there are no restrictions on the seals. The number of monsters each person kills will be displayed in the form of rankings on the Door of Night. Remember, if your spiritual power is exhausted, you must withdraw, otherwise, your life will be in danger. Have you understood?"
