Chapter 37 – Random team formation

"Here they come!" Little Glasses exclaimed excitedly. "They finally arrived!"

A tall man slowly approached them, standing at about 1.9 meters tall with a crew cut.

He yawned and reached into his pocket, then asked the Ox of Earth, "How much?"

"One 'Dao' for a ticket," the Ox of Earth replied.

The strong man took out a small ball from his pocket and flicked it to the Ox of Earth with his thumb, which the Ox of Earth caught firmly in his hand.

"I just woke up... Let's get started," the strong man stretched lazily and moved his neck. In a muffled voice, he said, "Let me see what kind of tricks you guys have come up with this time."

Qi Xia and the other three looked at this fierce-looking strong man and felt that he was not a good person.

Qiao Jiajin didn't pay much attention to the strong man, as he had seen many people like him on the streets. These people relied on their strong bodies to act arrogantly on the streets, and Qiao Jiajin had even made a few of them cry with his own hands. But he didn't know if this strong man in front of him... was also just a paper tiger?

When the number of participants reached twenty, everyone slowly approached to pay the "ticket".

After thinking for a while, Qi Xia also took out four "Dao".

For them, this was not a small amount. After handing over these four, they would only have one "Dao" left.

"Do we really want to participate in this game?" Qiao Jiajin asked. "What about our tactics?"

"I'm also struggling with it," Qi Xia said. "Although it's risky, I feel that it's not easy to encounter a game where twenty people participate at the same time. It's worth taking a chance."

After obtaining the agreement of the other three, Qi Xia put the four "Dao" into the box in front of the Ox of Earth.

"Very well," the Ox of Earth nodded, then turned around and opened the door. Inside the door was a staircase leading to the basement.

"Participants, please enter."

He turned around and slowly walked down the stairs, followed by the participants, each with a cautious expression, walking towards the depths of the underground.

"This venue looks very big... It's completely different from the 'Rat of Human'," Tian Tian whispered.

"Be careful," Qi Xia replied. "I have a bad feeling about this."

The middle-aged man had predicted that this game would end in "death" before participating, which made Qi Xia very concerned.

But now, he was not afraid of death, but afraid of being buried forever in this strange place.

As a swindler, he had experienced many life-or-death adventures, but without exception, he had always survived.

Thinking about it carefully, this time was no different from the previous situations. It was just licking blood on the edge of a knife.

In a short while, everyone arrived at the end of the stairs.

It was a small room with dim lights and an old smell. There were twenty chairs in the center of the room.

There were doors on both sides of the room, painted with paint, one yellow and one green.

"Everyone, please sit down," the Ox of Earth said. "Don't worry, the game hasn't started yet."

Everyone sat down with suspicion. Qi Xia and the other three sat together side by side.

At this time, they noticed that there was a small lamp on each armrest of the chairs, one yellow and one green.

"Since this is a team game, in order to ensure fairness, we will now proceed with 'random team formation'. Please do not move from your seats, otherwise, there will be 'sanctions' imposed on everyone in advance."

With these words, everyone's faces became unnatural.

The ones with the biggest reactions were Little Glasses and the middle-aged man. "Ah?! Team formation?!"

Qi Xia pondered for a moment, knowing that this setting was only advantageous to the organizers.

If this was a "gambling" game, it must reduce the winning chances of the participants to the lowest. The best way to do this was to scramble the teams of everyone.

The Ox of Earth walked to a corner of the room, found a button switch, and then turned around to look meaningfully at everyone, saying, "The game officially begins."

After speaking, he pressed the button, and the lights on both sides of everyone's chairs started to flicker. The yellow and green lights began to change continuously, forming a strange scene in this dim space.

Qi Xia looked at the small lamp on his armrest and felt a little nervous.

If the "Ox" really represented a physical game, it was not within his expertise. This time, they would have to rely on Qiao Jiajin's brute strength.

But if he could think this way, others would think the same.

For example, Little Glasses and the chubby middle-aged man had called the strong man to help them.

But it seemed that the Ox of Earth had control over everyone's thoughts. He would try to avoid such things from happening, which was why there was this "random team formation".

Qi Xia knew that if he had extremely bad luck and he and Qiao Jiajin were assigned to different teams, the gains from this game would become unpredictable.

Before Qi Xia could come up with a complete plan, the lights of the two colors stopped flickering.

The yellow light lit up for some people, while the green light lit up for others.

It seemed that this was the random team formation.

Qi Xia turned his head and looked at the team formation of the four people, feeling a mix of joy and worry.

He was glad that he and Qiao Jiajin both had yellow lights, indicating that they were in the same team. But he was worried that the two girls had green lights, indicating that they were in another team. If this was really a physical game, it would be very disadvantageous for them.

Murmurs arose from the crowd, and it seemed that the team formations of everyone, except for Qi Xia's team, were not satisfactory.

"Now, I will announce the game rules," the Ox of Earth said in a muffled voice. "Both sides will play independently, each having their own field, with no connection between them. As long as you can last for ten minutes in the field without being eliminated, you will pass. In the end, each person will receive the same number of 'Dao' as the number of people who passed."

After hearing this rule, many people couldn't sit still.

"Hey!" The middle-aged man stood up suddenly. "You didn't say anything at all! What game are we participating in? What will we encounter?"

Everyone looked at the Ox of Earth silently, expecting him to explain the game rules again. But he just glanced at the middle-aged man and then said indifferently, "Yellow light team, please follow me."

"You...!" The middle-aged man gritted his teeth but didn't dare to curse out loud.He didn't end up with his teammates, and he was already frustrated. Now, he couldn't even understand the rules, his emotions were extremely unstable. Little Glasses, standing beside him, could only continuously tug at his clothes, trying to calm him down.

Qi Xia turned to look at Tian Tian and Lin Qin, saying, "No matter what's behind that door, be careful and prioritize your lives."

"Okay." The two girls nodded nervously.

"Let's go." Qi Xia and Qiao Jiajin moved forward.

The two of them looked at their 'teammates' and found the situation was not optimistic. Among the ten people, six were women. If they were to engage in a 'physical' team game, it would undoubtedly be a tough battle.

Apart from Qi Xia and Qiao Jiajin, the other two men were Little Glasses and a middle-aged man. The team next to them only had the two girls, Tian Tian and Lin Qin.

"Damn..." Qiao Jiajin looked at the figures of the two teammates and couldn't help but curse under his breath, "One is a skinny guy, the other is a fatty..."

"Enough." Qi Xia said, "We can only rely on ourselves now."

The ten people lined up and stood in front of the yellow door.

The other ten people, under the command of the Minotaur, also stood in front of the green door.

With a low clanking sound of chains, the doors in front of everyone opened, revealing another set of stairs leading downwards.

Without a word, Qiao Jiajin walked down. The rest of the team also quickened their pace to follow him.

The staircase was not long, but it was somewhat steep. After walking down dozens of steps, they arrived at a spacious area, about half the size of a basketball court. In the center of the area, there was a round iron plate the size of a table.

Qi Xia quickly surveyed the environment. High walls surrounded the area on all sides, with a large iron gate in front. Above the gate was a countdown clock, the time frozen at ten minutes.
