Chapter 57 – Old Lv

"Hmm?"

Qi Xia was taken aback. He didn't expect Lin Qin's starting point to be this.

"Are you overthinking?" Qi Xia shook his head and said, "I hold Xiao An every day, waiting for her to fall asleep before sitting at the desk myself."

"Oh..." Lin Qin nodded as if relieved, "Won't that be very tiring for you?"

"I..." Qi Xia wanted to say something, but he was at a loss for words for a moment. "Lin Qin, you may not understand my profession. If I relax my guard at any moment, what awaits me could be a bottomless abyss."

"Is that so?" Lin Qin seemed to understand and agreed, then muttered to herself, "Actually, I'm really curious about you. You seem like a very smart person, but you make a living by deceiving others..."

Upon hearing these words, Qi Xia silently lowered his head.

"I don't want to either," he said, "but this is the only thing I can do."

The second night was even longer than the first.

The pitch-black night hung in the air, reluctant to leave like a long-lost friend.

Although Qi Xia and Lin Qin had slept for a while, they still felt sore and unbearable when dawn came.

Dr. Zhao and Xiao Ran seemed to have not slept all night. They had been staring at the door and Qi Xia. At this moment, both of them looked exhausted, with heavy dark circles under their eyes.

They were not only afraid that the "bugs" outside the door would rush in, but also afraid that Qi Xia would raise a black giant sword to murder them at dawn.

Fortunately, neither of these things happened until dawn.

"Let's go." Qi Xia stretched and said to Lin Qin, "It's time to start today's journey."

A day passed, and Qi Xia's earnings were zero.

The original goal of collecting 360 "Dao" indicators every day had become collecting 400 indicators per day.

Based on yesterday's situation, the rewards of many games would increase as the difficulty increased. If they wanted to achieve their goals quickly, they had to play several extremely dangerous games today.

Without saying goodbye to Xiao Ran and Dr. Zhao, the two of them stood up, picked up the aluminum pot, and walked out the door.

There was no trace of the "bugs" outside the door anymore. Where did those numerous monsters hide during the day?

Were they all hiding in nearby buildings?

The air was still murky, but Qi Xia had gradually gotten used to the rotten smell within it.

After Qi Xia took Lin Qin out of the door, they passed by the restaurant across the street and walked towards the road on the right.

The buildings here were different from where Qi Xia encountered the "Rat of Human." Most of them were shops.

The two of them walked along the street to the end, but they didn't find any traces of human activity.

Now standing at the T-junction, Qi Xia looked left and right.

If they had been here before, did they go left or right?

Qi Xia admitted that he didn't know Lawyer Zhang and Officer Li well enough to infer their decisions.

At this moment, Lin Qin discovered something near the right corner of the wall.

"Qi Xia, look." She pointed to a corner of the wall where there were some pale marks.

Qi Xia bent down after hearing her and found two crooked symbols there, resembling the numbers "5" and "2," as well as the letters "S" and "Z."

"Could they have left these?" Lin Qin looked at the two symbols with some confusion.

"Most likely," Qi Xia nodded, "The 'Z' could represent Lawyer Zhang."

"What about the 'S'?" Lin Qin asked again, "If it's Officer Li, shouldn't it be 'L'?"

"I can't understand either..." After saying that, he paused and asked, "Lin Qin, do you remember Officer Li's real name?"

"Real name..." Lin Qin lowered her head and pondered for a while, suddenly remembering something, "Ah, he mentioned it during the first game. He's called 'Li Shangwu'!"

After saying that, she looked at the symbol that looked like both 'S' and '5.'

"Could this really be left by them?" Lin Qin said, "But how did they know we were coming?"

Qi Xia was also puzzled. If they really wanted to leave them a message, the content should be more explicit. Now that he thought about it, the only possibility was that they seemed to be afraid that he would get lost, so they left these symbols that only he could understand.

"Anyway, there must be someone in this direction. Let's go and take a look."

The two of them confirmed the direction and set off again.

As they walked along the dilapidated street, less than twenty minutes later, Qi Xia heard a noisy commotion in a building.

"Damn it! This one doesn't count! Come again!" a man shouted, "If you have the guts, come again!"

As soon as he finished speaking, he was pushed out of the door by a tremendous force and fell heavily to the ground.

"Ouch... damn it..." The man rubbed his buttocks and cursed, "Just you wait..."

Qi Xia glanced at him, his expression darkening.

The person who was pushed out of the door was none other than the short and fat middle-aged man, Old Lv, whom he had seen before. The city where Qi Xia was located seemed to be of considerable size, yet he had managed to run into the same person two days in a row. What a coincidence.

Old Lv also noticed Qi Xia: "Eh? You lad...?"

After saying this, he seemed to remember something, shook his head, stood up, and was about to leave with a face full of annoyance.

"Hold on..." Qi Xia stopped him, "Have you seen anyone else here?"

Upon hearing this, Old Lv turned back, looked at Qi Xia with a hint of contempt, and said, "Oh? Isn't this Lord Yama? I haven't used up the life I bought from you yet, are you here to collect money again?"

Qi Xia shook his head helplessly after hearing this and said, "I don't want to argue about the past with you. I'm looking for my companions now. If you can help, I'll find a way to repay you."

"Repay?" Old Lv's eyes flickered, then he approached with a fake smile, "Alright, since you said so, then do me a favor. As long as you satisfy me, I'll tell you right away where the two people I just saw are."

"Two people...? Alright, what do you need help with?" Qi Xia asked coldly.

He pointed at a room in front of him, which was a Go club.

"Help me get in there and win a bet against that pig." Old Lv said with a smile, "I want him to lose everything, even his underwear."

"Pig?" Qi Xia turned his head and saw a dirty pig-headed man sitting in the Go club.

In front of him were black and white chess pieces, and two empty bowls were placed next to him.

Qi Xia touched his nose, then turned back to Old Lv and asked, "Old Lv, I can help you, but you have to answer me first, did you really see other people just now?"

Old Lv paused, then said, "Yes, I did."

Qi Xia took a step forward, getting closer to this fat man, and asked again, "I'll ask you one more time, did you see other people?"

Old Lv seemed a bit scared, he kept staring into Qi Xia's eyes, "I really did see them..."

"Two people?"

"Yes."

"A man and a woman?"

"Yes..."

"What were their characteristics?"

"Huh?" Upon hearing this, Old Lv hurriedly recalled, "The man was very serious, and the woman didn't talk much..."

Old Lv kept backing away, seemingly wary of Qi Xia.

He knew that this man had once pinned Zhang Shan to the ground and beaten him, he was not someone to be trifled with.

However, Qi Xia, after several consecutive interrogations, found that the other party did not seem to be lying, so he said, "Alright, I agree."

The corner of Lin Qin's mouth slightly lifted, and she whispered, "Qi Xia, you also understand psychology?"
