Vol.2 - Chapter 5 – The Honored Guest of the Great Pirate Barbarossa

During the Age of Discovery, the Caribbean Sea was a "hot land" where various parties pursued interests, wealth, and hegemony, making this rich sea an arena for all forces. Colonists, navy, pirates, natives, and even supernatural powers took turns to appear in this world's twilight, and this chaos has lasted for hundreds of years, and it is foreseeable that it will continue until this barbaric and mysterious era ends completely.

The progress of the times should have been like this.

However, a sudden apocalypse changed everything.

At the moment when the mild land began to curse humans, the ocean, as the cradle, once again opened its arms to the last survivors.

Like the last drama before the curtain falls on civilization, it may be ugly and desperate, but it is absolutely exciting.

Turtle Island was the place where this closing drama began.

And Barbosa, the former pirate king of the Caspian Sea, now a legendary pirate who dominates the Caribbean region, is the first important character to appear.

Mason and Constantin stood on the dock after the big fire last night, and they, along with other islanders who came to watch the excitement, pirates, and survivors, looked at the burning sea in front of them.

The Queen Anne's Revenge, which was all black, was heading towards Turtle Island in a "crushing everything" manner.

The ships that blocked the port were rushing to avoid it, and under the competition of thousands of sails, it seemed that the entire sea was making way for this ominous black ship.

It was not a ship that appeared alone.

Barbosa obviously had his own fleet, and after the Queen Anne's Revenge, there were four slightly smaller ships following it.

But they hung the same skull flag and followed their leader, and the cannons that reflected cold light under the sunlight and the howling pirates seemed to declare these madmen's rule over this sea.

There were drunken cheers and curses from the crowd next to Mason, and the number of pirates was probably half of them. It seems that Barbosa's reputation here is still good.

It cannot be said that everyone is looking forward to it, but it has not fallen to the point where everyone despises it.

"That ship is surrounded by magic, black magic, maybe the curse of voodoo has strengthened it."

Behind Mason, who was holding a telescope to observe, Constantin, who was holding a smoking pipe in his mouth, inserted his hands into his pockets. His wandering eyes had a slight green color at this moment, using the means of a mage to investigate this majestic warship.

But at the same time, he also complained:

"This is not a ship at all, it is like a floating coffin on the sea, full of the smell of death. At least 300 people have died miserably on it, and their souls have been bound as part of this coffin.

And the most wonderful thing is that this sailing coffin is now in a 'out of control' state."

"Out of control? Tell me more."

Mason put down the telescope, turned his head and looked at Constantin, and took out an unopened pack of Silka cigarettes from his luggage and handed it to him in the surprised eyes of the latter.

This move made Constantin, who was full of complaints, snorted."But he didn't refuse Mason's initiative, after all, the pipe looked cool, but it couldn't compare to Silka cigarettes that had already become a part of his life in every way.

"Ah, baby, your soul has returned."

Zhakang opened the cigarette and put one in his mouth, then tilted his head to let Mason light it with his burning fingers. After taking a deep breath and filtering out the tar with the filter, the black magician let out an exaggerated and comfortable groan.

Then, he explained slowly:

"I haven't heard of this 'Barbosa' story, but I can be sure that this new captain doesn't understand voodoo language, and he can't control the dark magic of the ship for his own use.

Simply put, he and his pirates just live on it, but they're not completely the owners of the ship."

"The former captain of Queen Anne's Revenge, 'Blackbeard' Titch, was a voodoo cult believer."

Mason picked up Old K's voodoo doll and waved it in front of Zhakang's eyes, explaining:

"This thing was made by Titch for Old K. I suspect that Old K's identity in this world is one of the crew members of that ship, and even one of the leaders on board.

But this doll became invalid after Old K died."

"No, it became invalid when Titch died."

Zhakang corrected, shaking his head:

"The voodoo spells of the voodoo cult are very low-level in the magic circle. Those things are based on shamanism, tribal witchcraft, and outdated things like human sacrifice, and they create 'stitched monsters'.

Although they look sinister and evil, they are actually more intimidating.

After the spellcaster dies, most of the voodoo items he made will immediately become invalid unless other spellcasters 'awaken' them."

"Then let me ask you a question, John."

Mason touched the voodoo doll and said softly:

"If we go on that ship, can you mobilize the unmanned dark magic?"

"I can, but why should I?"

Zhakang threw the burnt cigarette butt on the ground and stomped on it hard. He stared at Mason and said:

"You see, Mason, we are completely different in our attitudes towards life and habits. You want to help these people, but I don't care if they live or die.

The questioning just now was only the first disagreement between us, and I think there will be many more similar disagreements in the future."

"As long as the rewards are sufficient, all disagreements can disappear. Besides, isn't a pack of rare cigarettes enough to make up for the rift between us?"

Mason said with a slanted eye:

"You can play cards with those hell demons who want to kill you, and talk and laugh with them. Why can't we forget our little unpleasantness just now?"

"If you don't play with those hell creatures who have bad intentions towards you, then you won't make any friends in hell."

Zhakang sneered, waving his finger:

"But you're not a hell creature, Mason, you're a human, and you should demand a higher moral standard than those hell demons. To be honest, you're very unhappy about Old K forcing you to join the Star Alliance.

So am I.""You wanted to take down Old K after joining the team, and now I feel the same way.

You put a troublesome curse on me without my consent."

He finally spoke his mind hidden under his carefree appearance.

This is good.

Opening up is the first step to making friends.

In response to his accusation, Mason blinked and asked:

"If I had asked you beforehand, would you have been willing to join my team with a peaceful smile, John?"

"Of course not! I would give you the middle finger and walk away to hide in the darkness, laughing at your naivety, and eagerly waiting for you to be tormented by that curse."

The dark magician snorted and picked up a second cigarette, flicking his messy hair and saying:

"But now that the situation is what it is, there's nothing to say. You have successfully turned your own trouble into our trouble, and it's not as easy as you think to undo it.

Mason, I can pretend that our little unpleasantness just now never happened, it's easy for me.

But let's forget about being friends.

I have never had a friend in my life.

Everyone I call a 'friend' is someone I can use to my advantage. Of course, except for Little Zha, that woman is a mystery..."

"I understand what you mean. We cooperate for survival based on common interests, and the identity of team members is the limit of our relationship."

Mason nodded.

Seeing the Queen of Revenge slowly approaching the shore like a wall-sized black shadow, he straightened his gray coat and unbuttoned the first button of his shirt, revealing the cat school badge hanging around his neck.

He said:

"Let's go, let's meet Barbosa."

Zha Kang had no objection, still in his lazy posture with a cigarette in his mouth and hands in his pockets. As the two walked out of the crowd, Mason suddenly whispered:

"I have a friend in London who I know, but he doesn't know me..."

"And then?"

Zha Kang asked casually, and Mason shrugged and said:

"Nothing, I just wanted to tell you. I have a friend in London, he's a taxi driver, his real name is Chandler Bing."

"Bang!"

Zha Kang's hand clenched into a fist in an instant. He bit his cigarette and spewed sparks from his nostrils, saying to Mason:

"Stay away from Chandler! This is between us, don't involve him!"

"For a recluse who claims to have no friends, your reaction is unexpectedly intense."

Mason looked at the angry magician and explained:

"I didn't mean to threaten you, I just wanted to 'reveal your bottom', John. I know more about you than you think. I could have used Chandler to blackmail you into joining us from the beginning, I know it would have been the most effective way.

But I didn't do that.

I kept this secret for you."

"Well, I really have to 'thank' you for that."

Zha Kang watched as Mason walked towards the Queen of Revenge moored at the pier, becoming more and more mysterious in his eyes, and heard this young man say:

'''"After this is over, we have to go to Hogwarts to perform an ancient magic called 'Blood Oath'. All members of the K team must complete this magic. I believe that the connection of blood can prevent us from having disagreements that are not good for everyone. As for your dissatisfaction, John, I will find a way to make it up to you. Give me some time."

"You! Don't come near! The great Captain Barbossa is about to disembark! He's not interested in talking to third-rate pirates, so get lost!"

As the two walked onto the pier, the pirates from the Barbossa faction who had jumped off the gangway waved their weapons and shouted loudly.

There were also several tall and muscular black guys wearing only simple tribal war skirts, holding huge weapons and walking stiffly in front of Mason and Scrappy.

"Voodoo zombie."

Looking at those few black guys with pale eyes and stiff movements, Scrappy said coldly with his hands in his pockets, "The most famous thing about Voodooism, truly living dead. They look very advanced, and your bullets may not penetrate their Voodoo-strengthened skin."

"But you can control them, right?"

Mason coughed and raised the voodoo doll in his hand to Scrappy, saying, "Don't be angry, John, I promise to get you something that will make you happy later. Come on, show them what you can do."

Scrappy snorted and took off his "casting tool".

As his fingers flicked, the scattered cigarette ash turned into sparks and flew, and those ferocious and gloomy voodoo zombies dropped their weapons, holding their heads and making screams that no living person could make.

This movement scared the pirates under Barbossa.

Since occupying this legendary battleship, this was the first time they had seen such a strong reaction from the voodoo zombies, which were used as "secret weapons".

"The shameful Barbossa stole Titch's ship and shamelessly took it as his own, just like a thief who takes without asking! That old sea dog thought Titch was dead and no one could punish him. But he didn't know that Blackbeard still has many friends!"

Mason held up the voodoo doll and said coldly to the panicked pirates, "You have ten seconds to get out of here, you bastards! This is between me and Barbossa. Are you sure you want to get involved?"

The superstitious pirates were immediately stunned by the scene in front of them.

A quick look at "pawread dot com" will leave you more fulfilled.

But before they could think too much, Scrappy, who had already taken control of the voodoo zombies, snapped his fingers lightly.

Those screaming voodoo zombies returned to calmness, picked up their heavy and ferocious weapons from the ground, but no longer aimed at Mason, but turned around and swung their weapons to knock down the unsuspecting pirates.

Several unlucky ones were even directly smashed into the sea by the rusty anchor.

This sudden change caused the islanders and pirates who were watching the excitement on the pier behind them to exclaim in unison. The fun-loving people who were watching the show immediately began to boast about the identities of these two "wizard masters" while drinking cheap rum.

This group of guys who were best at bragging made up all kinds of fantasies.Soon, the word about "Blackbeard Edward Titch's friend coming to seek justice for the deceased and reclaim Queen Anne's Revenge" spread on the dock.

Everyone knew that something big was going to happen today, so no one would leave at this time.

Fun was right in front of them, not to be missed!

"Enough!"

As the Voodoo Zombies on the ship began to lose control and chase the terrified pirates on the deck with stiff steps, the door to the captain's cabin, which had been locked all along, was kicked open.

A man wearing a gorgeous naval commander's uniform with a black pirate tricorn hat, a funny curly wig, and a lot of perfume trying to make himself a "noble and upper-class" old man angrily drew his strange sword from his waist.

Dragging his wooden leg, he looked at the chaotic deck and swung his sword fiercely.

In the next moment, all the ropes on the black ship began to move like living creatures. The thick ropes snaked and quickly dragged everyone on the ship by the legs, lifting them up into the air.

In just a few seconds, the chaotic deck returned to calm under the old man's sword.

Several guys who looked like pirate commanders ran over and told Captain Barbossa what had happened on the dock.

When he heard that the visitor claimed to be "Blackbeard's friend," his face turned ugly. But this cunning guy would not admit defeat, nor would he easily give up his ship.

He thought for almost half a minute with a gloomy face and shouted to his henchmen:

"What are you standing there for? Lower the gangway and welcome our guests! You, go get the best rum from the wine cellar and let the chef make a decent lunch.

Oh, and go and let those musicians who are locked in the hold out, give them some decent clothes to wear and let them perform!

And where is my dearest first mate?"

"Uh, Captain, you locked her in the hold a few days ago because she tried to poison and assassinate you. She's been starving for a few days and is about to die. Fortunately, you didn't allow anyone to touch her, or she would have been dead by now."

A henchman whispered, making Barbossa a little embarrassed due to his poor memory. But he quickly kicked the henchman and cursed:

"Then go and release my first mate and let the maidservant give her some decent clothes..."

Barbossa showed a strange smile, and a few large golden teeth flashed under his messy golden beard. He put the black sword back into its scabbard and flicked his finger, saying:

"Her father's friend is here. Maybe she can help me entertain these 'distinguished guests.' By the way, where the hell is Jack and his Black Pearl? And the other Pirate Kings' fleets? Where are they?"

On the other side, Mason, escorted by several treacherous Voodoo Zombies, stepped onto the swaying gangway in the gaze of a group of terrified pirates.

His companion, Constantine, looked around the Voodoo warship and whispered:"I know a guy in New York who has quite a bit of influence. He would spare no expense to get his hands on this ship, as it's the epitome of voodoo magic."

"Patience, John."

Mason glanced at the open captain's room in front of him and responded in a low voice:

"There will be an opportunity eventually."
