Vol.2 - Chapter 33 – Then my K team definitely has to help out with the situation

Grayson's uncolored Batmobile drove directly into the underground through the base's large entrance. The armor on it still had bloodstains and dents left by heavy weapons after it stopped in the garage.

Fortunately, the master was always willing to spend money on his weapons and equipment, and he knew that good things must be expensive. So, despite its appearance, the Batmobile still maintained a considerable level of integrity.

"It may need a repaint, Alfred."

The cockpit opened, and Nightwing, wearing a titanium Bat suit, jumped out while silently carrying his girlfriend from the passenger seat. He said to Alfred, who had rushed over:

"The desert camouflage is too conspicuous in the city. I almost got hit by several rockets when I was evading. Is there a special paint equipment for the Batmobile here?"

"Don't worry about that, Master Grayson. Leave it to me."

Alfred, holding a coffee cup, smiled at Nightwing and said:

"This used to be the Batmobile's experimental base. There is a complete set of modification equipment here. It will take us one or two hours to leave, which is enough time to spray it with a beautiful and low-key black stealth coating.

Of course, I need to consult the current owner's opinion."

At this point, the old butler glanced discreetly at Barbara Gordon, who was being held in Nightwing's arms. She seemed exhausted and buried her head in her boyfriend's chest, showing no expression.

"Master Wayne is waiting for you."

Alfred took a sip of coffee and said:

"Go up quickly. The color tone of your 'handsome suit' may also need some adjustment."

"Thanks for the reminder, Alfred."

Having successfully retrieved his girlfriend from the League of Assassins, Dick Grayson seemed quite happy. He said goodbye to Alfred after hugging Barbara and then boarded the elevator.

In the garage, the old butler sighed.

And in the shadow behind him, Mason reached out and took off the hood covering his head, revealing himself.

He walked towards his Batmobile, feeling very annoyed about Nightwing "scratching" his car. While stroking the uneven exterior armor caused by the explosion, he said to the old man behind him:

"Do you think that big idiot really didn't guess it? Or is he unwilling to face the truth? I think almost everyone in the Bat family should have an answer by now.

Even old Gordon."

"She is a good girl."

Alfred answered without answering the question.

The old man clearly didn't want to discuss this topic and asked:

"Do you want to use the classic black paint? Or change to another color?"

"My friends and I don't need to drive it around the city at night, so black doesn't have any special advantages for us.

If possible, I hope it can be painted gray.

Dark gray, and strengthen the external armor so that it can charge through the gunfire."

Mason sat on the hood of the Batmobile and said:

"And then add all the missing combat modules to this prototype car. We'll handle the weapon system ourselves, and also remove the remote control lock from the engine.

Consider this as a reward, Alfred.

After all, my friends and I are going to work hard for the cause of Batman and his city."

"Of course, Mason."

The old butler walked to the edge of the garage and activated a hidden vehicle modification machine embedded in the wall. He skillfully manipulated several mechanical arms to move the Batmobile prototype into the modification garage while saying:

"So, you also helped improve the zombie virus vaccine?"

Alfred's question went unanswered.

In silence, the old man turned his head and saw that there was no trace of Mason in the garage.

This "Batman behavior" made the old butler hum discontentedly, then picked up his coffee and proceeded to modify the already highly completed prototype car according to Mason's request.

Mason didn't intentionally ignore Afuo's inquiry.

Most of the time, he was a person who respected the elderly and loved the young, but things happened suddenly.

When he quickly left the garage and arrived at the edge of the abandoned factory outside the base, Mason took out his old flip phone and waited for a few seconds before dialing a number again.

He put the phone to his ear and said:

"Charles? Where are you?"

"I just sent my child to a safe place, boss."

Kite-Man answered while panting:

"I am now being chased by three helicopters from the League of Assassins. These people are crazy! They are trying to blow up the city's energy pipelines and Gotham River's bridge to turn this city into an isolated island."

"Resolve the pursuers as soon as possible!"

Mason replied:

"Find a quiet place to talk."

"Got it, wait a moment, boss."

Kite-Man didn't hang up the call.

After a few tens of seconds, Mason's phone heard several violent explosions and screams. Ten seconds later, Charles's exhausted voice sounded again.

He said:

"The pursuers have been dealt with, and I have used up all the flying bombs on me. Boss, I know what you want to ask. Poison Ivy and a psychiatrist named Harley Quinn saved me and our employees when Falcone's gang attacked the bar.

By the way, is she your girlfriend?

She seems a bit mentally unstable, bleeding herself but constantly asking if you are safe."

"You're half right, she is my female friend."

Mason let out a sigh of relief and said in a strange tone:

"But I knew you and Poison Ivy would become friends. Where are they now? We are preparing for a joint operation with the Bat family. If possible, I would like to invite them."

"They have left."

Kite-Man said regretfully:

"Poison Ivy said that the League of Assassins is convening a meeting of super villains, and someone is watching them. But she gave me a strange flower and said she would contact me through it if there is something.

She said it was your potion that cured her and asked me to express her gratitude to you."

"Then come and meet me as soon as possible. I will send you the address. Be careful not to be tracked."

Mason said briefly and hung up the call. With Kite-Man's flying speed, it would take him about twenty minutes to arrive here.

The young man looked back at the underground base and calculated that by the time Charles arrived, the "internal affairs" of the Bat family should have been resolved.

Mason didn't go back but sat in a place where wood was piled up, starting to disassemble and maintain his three guns. After obtaining enough special metals, he planned to remake these guns and add several special combat modules.

These weapons were still deadly, but their destructive power was no longer enough to meet Mason's combat needs.

The young man felt that he urgently needed to upgrade the firepower of his K-Squad.

"Why don't you go in?"

Catwoman's voice quickly sounded behind Mason.

With a hint of helplessness, she walked to Mason's side, sat down, and took out a cigarette for herself without lighting it. She complained in a low voice:

"I'm so annoyed watching those people guessing riddles. They obviously know that the girl is a traitor, but for various reasons, they are unwilling to say it.

Bruce is decisive in everything, except when it comes to family and emotions, he becomes indecisive, which is annoying."

"How can you expect a man who lost his parents at the age of eight to handle these family conflicts well?"

Mason said without raising his head, wiping the gun barrel:

"That is something he has never had but has always longed for. Even if Batman is rational, he cannot actively hurt his own child, even if his child just stabbed him from behind.

Look, trust is a dangerous dagger that you hand to your companion behind you.

Maybe I should learn some experience."

"What are you implying?"

Selina asked unhappily:

"We have a blood pact, Mason. We cannot harm each other. Stop complaining. What else do you know about the League of Assassins' operation in Gotham?"

"A lot, enough to scare you, Selina."

Mason looked left and right, then took out a strange device and checked it.

After confirming that there were no listening devices, he whispered in a voice that only the two of them could hear, telling Catwoman about his conversation with Sandstorm in Arkham Asylum.

This news was indeed explosive, causing Selina's cigarette to fall to the ground.

"We must tell him!"

Catwoman stood up.

She realized the seriousness of the problem but was stopped by Mason, who grabbed her wrist.

"We need to tell them, but not by us! Stay calm."

Mason looked into Catwoman's eyes and said seriously:

"If exposing ourselves within the League of Assassins is the price to save the world, I think it's not worth it. Our best choice is to stay undercover and gather more information as 'spies.'

And don't forget the curse, Selina.

You may die instantly if you say it out in Batman's arms, and I won't have time to save you."

"That's true."

Selina nodded.

The older sister frowned and thought for a moment. After a few seconds, she looked at Mason and said:

"So, who do you plan to be the messenger?"

"Constantine."

Mason handed the completed gun back to Catwoman and said:

"First of all, he is in another dimension, even if the League of Assassins finds out about us, John has an alibi. Secondly, John has already researched a magic technique that can communicate across worlds through his magic and curse tattoos.

Finally, despite Constantine's unreliable appearance, he has had several collaborations with the Justice League.

In the top superhero circle, John's face is much bigger than the three of us combined.

In summary, he is the most suitable person to deliver the message."

"And if those guys insist on asking for evidence, John can easily fool them with 'magic.' After all, he is always wandering around.

Disappearing for several months won't attract the attention of others."

Catwoman clapped her hands with bright eyes and said:

"Indeed, he is the most suitable candidate. But what about the secrecy curse?"

"So, we can't mention any words related to the League of Assassins and have to find a way around the rules."

Mason touched his left arm and said helplessly:

"We can only blur the information to avoid triggering the soul curse. John has the most experience in dealing with curses in this world. I believe he can handle it well.

Of course, Selina, you also have your troubles."

As K-Squad's leader, Mason looked at Catwoman and said:

"I think Batman must already be suspecting the relationship between you and us. Instead of waiting for him to investigate secretly, it's better for you to find an opportunity to tell him about the existence of K-Squad in a straightforward manner.

Come up with a good story.

Don't expect him to believe it, but we need to stabilize him temporarily."

"I'm good at this. I have a lot of experience entangling with Batman."

Selina smiled and said. She treated this as another riddle game with Bruce Wayne. Following Mason's request, Catwoman took out her own rapier and handed it to him.

Mason sat in place, assembling the guns, and followed Selina's guidance on how to weave the whip to achieve better effects. Girls are naturally talented in the field of tailoring.

After more than ten minutes, Kite-Man finally arrived.

This poor guy still had the lingering smoke and indelible fatigue after intense battles. As soon as he landed, he asked the boss for vitality potions and chugged two bottles before barely recovering.

"Boss, look at this!"

Charles picked up his phone and showed Mason the information. He said in a strange tone:

"The lunatics from Arkham sent me this, saying that I slaughtered Falcone's lackeys to prove that I am stronger and more qualified to join the 'League of Evil' than Falcone.

They invited me to Arkham tonight.

They said they wanted to discuss the rule of Gotham..."

"Ha? This is an unexpected joy."

Mason raised an eyebrow.

A great idea came to his mind.

But before he could say it, Kite-Man pointed in surprise at the top of the abandoned floor of the underground base not far away and said:

"What is that wheelchair girl doing? Why is she so close to the edge of the building? It's too dangerous!"

"Hmm?"

Mason and Selina turned their heads at the same time. After seeing the figure on the rooftop clearly, their faces changed, and they immediately ran towards it.

Something bad happened!

Batman might lose another one of his children tonight...
