Chapter 23 – Crab Game

"Boom! Boom! Boom!"

With every step the five-meter-tall troll took, the ground shook violently.

Countless birds were startled into flight, and various demonic beasts scattered in all directions.

Chen Yao, with his short legs, used Shadow Step to flee desperately.

But after his recent battle with the scout, his fighting spirit was nearly depleted.

If this continued, he'd surely die once his last bit of fighting spirit was exhausted.

However, fortune favors the bold.

Just as Chen Yao ran ten miles, he saw figures appearing ahead.

They were adventurers drawn by the troll.

"That's a One-eyed Troll! I didn't expect to find a troll here!"

"Everyone, attack! If we can get a magic crystal, we'll be rich!"

The adventurers were overjoyed at the sight of the troll.

Small monsters don't have magic crystals; only these large monster beasts might possess them.

But this was the Novice Sanctuary, where large monster beasts were scarce.

Finding a magic crystal was nearly impossible.

Encountering a troll here today was an opportunity they couldn't miss.

The One-eyed Troll, like a goblin, had gained intelligence.

It knew who posed the greatest threat to it.

So it abandoned its pursuit of Chen Yao and turned to charge at the adventurers.

Even from a hundred meters away, the One-eyed Troll began its attack.

With a fierce kick, the stones beneath its feet shot out like cannonballs.

The adventurers were startled, quickly dodging and then advancing rapidly.

The warrior let out an excited roar, flashed forward, and slashed his sword at the troll's leg.

Though he made a cut, no blood flowed out.

"This skin is too thick..."

Seeing the massive fist descending from above, the warrior shouted, "Quick, support me!"

The shield bearer was right behind him, raising his giant shield and using Golden Fortress.

"Boom!"

A loud crash.

The shield bearer was knocked to the ground, spitting out a mouthful of blood.

But he managed to block the One-eyed Troll's attack.

The One-eyed Troll wanted to continue its assault, but more adventurers were rushing in.

Arrows rained down on its head, forcing it to wave its hands in defense.

Its hands were covered in small arrows, but they caused no real harm.

"Indeed, it's tough-skinned and thick-fleshed. Everyone, attack together! We'll split the money from the magic crystal!"

"Alright!"

Several adventurer squads joined forces, even lone adventurers joined the fray.

After all, magic crystals were too valuable to miss out on.

This gave Chen Yao a chance to catch his breath.

He ran two miles and hid behind a tree, gasping for air.

"This won't do. My fighting spirit won't recover for now. If the adventurers catch me, I'm dead..."

Just as he feared.

While resting, a figure suddenly burst out from the grass.

Face to face with a goblin.

Without a word, the newcomer raised a greatsword and slashed down fiercely.

"Damn!"

Chen Yao cursed his bad luck. How did he run into a Greatsword Wielder?

These Greatsword Wielders have exceptionally strong attacks.

Specialized in fighting large monster beasts, why bother with a small goblin like me?

"Whoosh!"

The tree Chen Yao was leaning against shattered instantly, wood chips flying everywhere.

If he hadn't dodged quickly, he'd have been crushed into pulp.

"Hey, you dodged that?"

The Greatsword Wielder chuckled, swinging his greatsword again, aiming for Chen Yao's head.

"I said stop playing around!"

"Leave the goblin to me, go help the others with the troll!"

Greatsword Wielders are hard to train, only a few exceptional people choose this profession.

As a result, Greatsword Wielders are relatively rare.

Seeing this guy fighting a goblin, the others who rushed over were speechless.

They quickly reminded him.

"Alright, I'll go have some fun with the troll. You guys handle this little guy!"

"Got it!"

The Greatsword Wielder shouldered his greatsword and charged towards the troll.

Sensing danger, the troll roared angrily, grabbing a log and hurling it.

The Greatsword Wielder laughed wildly, cleaving the log in two with a single swing, then spinning beneath the giant beast.

"Whoosh!"

Blood splattered.

The One-eyed Troll let out a piercing scream, slamming its fist down hard.

"Clang!"

The greatsword caught the fist, but the immense force sent him flying backwards, almost face-planting.

"That's some power!"

Rubbing his numb arm, the Greatsword Wielder grinned wickedly and charged again.

Meanwhile.

Chen Yao was surrounded by four female adventurers.

All four were the Greatsword Wielder's teammates, and they were quite attractive.

A warrior, a scout.

An assassin, and an archer.

The four women weren't high-level, just around level eight or nine.

But with Chen Yao's depleted fighting spirit and facing four opponents, winning was impossible.

"Don't just stand there, take this guy down first, then go help!"

The female warrior chuckled, swinging her sword down.

Chen Yao seized their underestimation, rolling to the ground and grabbing her ankle.

"Ah..."

The female warrior exclaimed, falling backward.

She felt a surge of fighting spirit enter her body through her ankle, making her feel weak all over.

Her shield and sword fell to the ground.

"What's happening?"

The other three were shocked, rushing at Chen Yao.

Chen Yao released his grip, feeling his fighting spirit recover by 30 points!

"That's enough!"

Chen Yao immediately channeled 20 points of fighting spirit, drew his dagger, and used the first-tier assassin skill.

Triple Thrust!

The dagger stabbed into the three women's bodies in quick succession.

They felt a numbness spread through them, their fighting spirit dissipating instantly.

They clutched their wounds in disbelief, staring at the goblin before them.

Blood gushed from their fingers, unable to be staunched.

Chen Yao sneered, grabbing the wrists of two of them with lightning speed.

Can't waste this opportunity!

Sure enough.

The three weren't dead yet, still able to dual cultivate.

But the fighting spirit gained was only a tenth of normal.

Still better than nothing.

"You... you..."

The female warrior sat on the ground, terrified by the scene before her.

Her three teammates, at some point, were already lying in pools of blood.

She was too scared to speak.

"With skills like yours, you dare call yourselves adventurers?"

Chen Yao sneered, his dagger flashing as it pierced her throat.

Now wasn't the time for mercy.

After killing the four women, Chen Yao turned and ran, eager to leave this place of trouble.

The adventurers had teamed up, driving the One-eyed Troll into a corner.

It let out a series of unwilling roars.

Just as the adventurers thought victory was at hand, an angry roar echoed from deep within the forest.

A massive vulture soared into the sky, then dove down.

"Oh my god, it's a Whirlwind Vulture!"

The adventurers were dumbfounded, the timid ones turning to flee.

At the same time.

The Whirlwind Vulture swooped over the crowd, its enormous wings flapping fiercely.

A whirlwind over ten meters high formed on the ground, rolling towards the adventurers.

Sand and stones flew, wood chips scattered.

Adventurers fell in droves, some unluckily getting their heads blown off.

Dying on the spot.

"Is there a level 20 adventurer? This Whirlwind Vulture is level 20, we can't beat it..."

"There is, I'm coming!"

A furious shout.

A figure flashed forward like lightning.

Launching a furious Cross Slash at the sky!
