Chapter 8 – The Escape Plan from the Treatment Room

After reading the words written in blood, Gu Yi felt even more confused.

From the very beginning until now, the bloody words had always helped him clear the stages, but this time, they told him not to use the glasses.

If he followed the usual pattern.

In front of the doctor, he had to obey the rules on the front of the note; behind the doctor's back, he had to obey the rules on the back.

The hospital shouldn't want him to uncover the truth, so the rules on the front of the note should be the ones that restrict the player's freedom.

"I" should be the one eager to leave the hospital, and "I" would also want the player to understand the truth behind the hospital. Therefore, "I" would write helpful hints in blood on the back of the note.

But the rules on this note clearly contradicted the purpose of the 3D Glasses.

The 3D Glasses were a tool for uncovering the hospital's truth.

So, the front of the note should have rules to stop or limit his use of the glasses, and the back should tell him how to use them behind the doctor's back.

Now, the two sides had somehow switched places?

The front of the note told him how to use the glasses safely, but the back told him not to trust them.

Too strange…

Which side should he believe?

Right now, he had no way to deduce or prove anything.

Gu Yi could only find more clues, then use his Innate Skill to summarize after a bit of trial and error.

Gu Yi looked around the shop and found it filled with all sorts of strange merchandise, including live snakes and toads for sale.

"Why do you have this kind of stuff in your shop?"

"People want them, so I sell them."

"Alright, I have some other questions."

"Go ahead."

"Where can I watch the movie 'Monster Siege'?"

"The Archives Room."

"Where's the Archives Room?"

"You know enough. Get out, don't interfere with my business."

The Shopkeeper waved his hand impatiently and pushed Gu Yi out.

Gu Yi put the 3D Glasses back in their case, hid them away, and continued to wander around the Plaza.

There were still two hours until lunch. Gu Yi continued his exploration but still didn't find any noteworthy clues.

After 2:00 PM, once lunch was over, Gu Yi and the other patients returned to their wards. He hid the 3D Glasses under his pillow.

After the afternoon nap, everyone lined up and went to the so-called treatment room.

Before entering the treatment room, a doctor gave each patient a dose of medicine.

When the doctor wasn't looking, Gu Yi hid the pill under his tongue. He waited until the doctor left before secretly spitting it out.

"Everyone, please enter the treatment room."

Gu Yi nodded and turned to enter the treatment room.

There were ten treatment pods in the room. They looked like large coffins, which made Gu Yi feel inexplicably nauseous.

With a nurse's help, Gu Yi climbed into a treatment pod.

The nurse pressed some buttons on a few machines in the room and then left.

One of the walls was a large pane of transparent glass, so if any problems arose, the nurses could come over immediately.

By now, Gu Yi had accumulated 50 Spirit Power. The moment the nurse left, he activated his Innate Skill.

(Simulation Start!)

(You try to push open the treatment pod, but the switch for the lid is on the outside. You can't open it from the inside.)

(You look at the other patients. They are all asleep with their eyes closed.)

(You hear the sound of dogs barking in the distance. You turn your head to look out the glass window of the treatment room.)

(A group of people wearing Deer Head Masks walks past the window. They are all dressed in suits and don't look like they belong to the hospital.)

(Not only that, but the Deer-Headed Person are accompanied by two others wearing Pig Head Masks.)

(They stop at the door of each treatment room, observing the condition of the patients inside.)

(As they pass your treatment room, your gazes meet.)

(A Deer-Headed Person points at you.)

(Nurses immediately come to your treatment room and open your pod.)

(Nurse: Congratulations.)

(You: Congratulations for what?)

(The nurses bring you before the Deer-Headed Person.)

(The Deer-Headed Person pats your head. You want to pull away.)

(Deer-Headed Person: Come with me.)

(You: Where are we going?)

(Deer-Headed Person: Don't you dislike this place? I'll take you out.)

(You are surprised.)

(The Deer-Headed Person grabs your arm and walks out of the treatment room.)

(Black fur begins to grow on your arm.)

(You try to break free from the Deer-Headed Person's grip, but they easily pull you back.)

(You try to speak, but only a bark comes out.)

(You have turned into a monster.)

(You are no longer human.)

(You are dead.)

(Simulation End.)

Gu Yi opened his eyes, staring blankly into space.

Once again, he had inexplicably triggered a death flag, achieving the "Turned into a Monster" bad ending.

Just as Gu Yi had guessed, all the characters in this world wore masks. The world must look different to them depending on the mask they wore.

Gu Yi closed his eyes again.

(Simulation Start!)

(This time, you don't open your eyes. You choose to feign sleep and carefully analyze the information you have.)

(The Deer-Headed Person is a new character. If you make eye contact with him in the treatment room, he will take you away, leading to the "Turned into a Monster" ending.)

(The Deer-Headed Person is clearly not from the hospital.)

(He wanders through the treatment area, seemingly selecting patients who meet certain criteria.)

(Perhaps being able to stay awake in the treatment pod is one of the conditions?)

(You close your eyes and listen carefully to the footsteps outside.)

(Only after you're sure the Deer-Headed Person has moved away do you open your eyes.)

(The Deer-Headed Person has taken another patient, a woman.)

(You don't know this female patient.)

(The female patient's eyes are half-closed, as if she's sleepwalking. The Deer-Headed Person has to support her by the arm to get her to walk.)

(From this, you deduce that staying awake in the treatment pod is not a necessary condition for being chosen.)

(The Deer-Headed Person leaves with the female patient, and you can no longer see them.)

(You have solved the mystery of "the disappearing patients.")

(The patients were all taken away by the Deer-Headed Person while receiving treatment in the pods.)

(But...)

(Why do they take the patients? What happens after they are taken? These mysteries remain unsolved.)

(At this moment, another Deer-Headed Person enters.)

(You close your eyes.)

It can be hard to make great work when its stolen from bit.ly/3iBfjkV.

(You hear the Deer-Headed Person talking in front of your treatment room window. It seems he has taken an interest in you.)

(A nurse walks in.)

(You get a little nervous.)

(Since it's just a simulation, you decide to try something bold.)

(The nurse opens the door to your treatment pod.)

(You leap out the moment the nurse opens the pod.)

(You quickly flee the treatment room.)

(The nurse shouts behind you, and several other nurses run over to block your path.)

(You realize you're no match for these nurses.)

(You pull out a fruit knife to threaten them.)

(A nurse picks up a nearby chair and smashes your head in.)

(Your vision goes red.)

(You are dead.)

(Simulation End.)

Gu Yi opened his eyes and sighed in frustration.

He couldn't beat the Security Department, he couldn't beat the male doctor, and now he couldn't even beat the female nurses.

Clearly, everyone in this hospital was stronger than him. It was impossible to clear this Dungeon through physical strength alone.

Forcing his way out meant death.

Being taken by the Deer-Headed Person also meant death.

More importantly, Gu Yi still hadn't figured out why the Deer-Headed Person had taken an interest in him. If he couldn't solve this mystery, he would still be taken away.

Was he going to die in the treatment room today?
