Chapter 23 – Job Transfer

The Assassin job mentor didn't waste any words. With a wave of his hand, a golden light enveloped Wu Shaochen, and a system prompt sounded in his ear:

"Ding, congratulations on successfully changing your job. Would you like to redistribute your free attribute points?"

Players have one chance to redistribute their free attribute points when they first change jobs after leaving the Novice Village. This is the only opportunity, mainly to accommodate Mage players. Since there are no skills in the early stages, they rely entirely on normal attacks, making it impractical to invest in Intelligence, which would severely hinder development. Therefore, most players initially invest in Strength. When they switch to Mage, the previous attribute points become useless. Thus, the system offers a chance to redistribute attribute points during the first job change, which is quite considerate.

Wu Shaochen thought it over and decided it wasn't necessary. Apart from 5 points in Physique, he had allocated everything else to Agility, which perfectly matched the Assassin's attributes. So, there was no need to redistribute, as it would just waste time. He chose "No."

"Ding, congratulations on becoming a great Assassin. After changing to the Assassin job, players will receive an additional 2 points in Agility with each level up, on top of the free attribute points. As your level increases, the points will increase as well."

Each profession has its own exclusive attribute points: Warriors get 2 points in Strength, Mages get 2 points in Intelligence, Shield Guards get 2 points in Physique, Archers get 1 point in Agility and 1 point in Strength, and Priests get 1 point in Intelligence and 1 point in Spirit. Other attribute points can be freely allocated.

After successfully changing jobs, the previously suppressed experience points were released, instantly boosting his level to 11. He gained 40 Health points, 20 Mana points, and 10 free attribute points, with Agility automatically increasing by two points.

Level LV10—LV11, Health: 1710—1750, Mana: 150—170, Agility: 76—78, Movement Speed: 100—102, Attack Speed: 50%—51%, remaining attribute points: 30, Experience Points: 2060/30000

At the same time, a server-wide announcement echoed across the China Server:

"Server-wide Announcement: Congratulations to player Chen Feng for successfully changing jobs. As the first player to change jobs, the system rewards you with 1000 Reputation, 50 Gold Coins, and a Special Skill Book. This is a special announcement!"

"Server-wide Announcement: Congratulations to player Chen Feng for successfully changing to the Assassin profession. As the first player on the server to change to the Assassin profession, the system rewards you with 500 Reputation, 20 Gold Coins, and a Profession Skill Book. This is a special announcement!"

The two consecutive server-wide announcements plunged the entire China Server into silence once again. It was Chen Feng again, and now there wasn't a single player on the China Server who didn't know this name. Since the server opened, Chen Feng had been on TV multiple times, making it hard not to recognize him.

"Who exactly is this Chen Feng, and why is he so impressive?"

"Exactly, the server's only been open for a little over a day, and he's been on TV three or four times already."

"Damn, I'm only level 8, and he's already changed jobs. We started the game at the same time, and I haven't even logged off yet. How is there such a big gap?"

"Looking for contact info, need to ride his coattails!!"

Ao Shi Tianxia glanced at his experience points, level 9 at 50%, and his expression turned grim.

Numerous experts in various Novice Villages frowned. Most of the true powerhouses had already reached level 9, so they felt it was a pity.

"Junlin, the first Assassin title is gone!" Haoran lamented.

"I didn't expect him to change to Assassin; it's indeed a pity. But Archer suits me too," Junlin said. He originally wanted to change to Assassin, given the high critical rate and his preference for close combat. However, Archer also matched his talent.

"Yeah, if we reach level 10 and no one claims the first Archer title, you should change to Archer. I have a feeling that the skill book given to the first player to change jobs in each profession is very powerful," Nanfeng said.

"Yeah, let's focus on leveling up. Our Novice Village's Teleportation Array has been repaired. Once we reach level 10, we can change jobs, which is a natural advantage," Junlin said.

"Yeah."

Su Muxue heard the system announcement, saw the reward for the first job change, and then looked at her experience points, level 9 at 45%. She turned to Uncle Liu and said, "Uncle Liu, let's focus all our efforts on leveling up. This is a rare opportunity, and I feel like I can aim to be the first player to change to Mage."

"Alright, we should have done this earlier," Uncle Liu said. With his keen eye, he could see this was a great opportunity. If Su Muxue became the first player to change to Mage, it would be extremely beneficial for their future development.

After hearing the system prompt, Wu Shaochen breathed a sigh of relief and quickly logged off to eat. He had breakfast at around eight in the morning, and now it was almost four in the afternoon. He was starving, having held out just to get the first job change reward. Now that he had it, he naturally logged off to eat.

Taking off his helmet, Wu Shaochen got out of bed and habitually checked his bank account balance on his mobile phone. This was his favorite thing to do now. Balance: 607,650 yuan.

"Holy crap, it's already 600,000?" Wu Shaochen exclaimed in surprise. He had been intensely grinding monsters and hadn't paid attention to his income, not realizing it had reached this amount. 600,000 yuan could buy a house in a small city. Haha, this time he really gambled right, but he owed it all to his talent, which he still didn't know how he acquired.

Wu Shaochen freshened up, got dressed, and went out. He hadn't had a proper meal in two days, so today he planned to have a feast.

He went to a relatively large restaurant near his rental place. He used to be reluctant to eat there, but now he wanted to try it out. He ordered several dishes at once and browsed short videos on his phone while waiting for the food. Now, even the short videos were recordings from the game, and the most liked ones were videos of guilds strategizing against the Boar King. Seeing that several guilds had already defeated the Boar King, Wu Shaochen couldn't help but marvel at the power of guilds. If it weren't for his talent that countered the Boar King, he wouldn't know how long it would take to defeat it under normal circumstances.

The restaurant's business was noticeably worse than before, with only a few tables occupied, and most of the conversations were about Oracle.

"What do you guys think this Chen Feng is like in real life? He's really amazing."

"Yeah, I wonder how he levels up. We all started the game at the same time, but the gap is so big. I'm only level 7, and he's already changed jobs."

"Exactly, I wonder what kind of person he is in real life. It would be great to meet him."

Wu Shaochen smiled to himself and thought, "I didn't expect the game's impact to be this significant in just over a day."
