Chapter 36 – Ox of Earth

"How do we earn 'Dao'?" Qi Xia asked again.

"We found a game involving oxen that can earn a large amount of 'Dao' according to the rules. However, the game requires twenty people to start, and we are still missing five people. Do you want to join us?"

"Still missing five people?" Qi Xia was taken aback. "You already have fifteen people?"

It seems that there are indeed many participants here.

"That's right." Little Glasses nodded and pointed to the distance. There were indeed many people gathered there.

Qi Xia pondered for a moment and nodded. "Alright, let's go and take a look."

"Okay! I'll go ahead and wait for you!" Little Glasses walked away tactfully.

"Hey!" Qiao Jiajin felt something was not right. "Shouldn't we go together? What if it's a violent gang? Do you want me to show off my skills?"

"No, it won't be like that." Qi Xia said, "Each room can only have a maximum of nine people. In this environment, it's too difficult to form a group of more than ten people. Not to mention these strangers, even the four of us who walked out of the same room may not completely trust each other."

After saying that, he looked at Lin Qin, as if there was something more to his words.

Lin Qin seemed displeased. She seemed to not understand why she was being suspected. Was it because she didn't recognize the 'flyer'?

After walking along an old road, the four of them arrived in front of a large building.

As Little Glasses had said, there was a man wearing a water buffalo mask standing at the entrance of the building.

Outside the door, the many participants were standing in groups of two or three, deliberately keeping their distance from each other.

Although these people were strangers, Qi Xia and the others felt a sense of relief seeing so many normal people gathered together.

Even if these people didn't look pleasing to the eye, they were still living beings.

"Great job, Little Glasses!" A middle-aged man patted Little Glasses on the back. "You've brought four people at once!"

Qi Xia looked at the man with the bull's head in front of him and walked up to ask, "What are the rules of the game?"

The Bull-headed man said indifferently, "In the game of oxen, each person needs to pay a 'Ticket' to participate. It requires twenty people to start. During the game, players will be eliminated. When the game ends, each player remaining on the field will receive the same number of 'Dao' as the number of players who cleared the game."

"The same number of 'Dao' as the number of players who cleared the game?!" Qi Xia was taken aback. "Are you saying that if there are twenty people left on the field, each of them will receive twenty 'Dao'?"

"Yes."

Qiao Jiajin's mouth dropped open when he heard this. "Damn! Wouldn't that make us rich in one go?! That's four hundred 'Dao'!"

"Is it really that easy..." Tian Tian felt somewhat incredulous. "Hey, Ox of Human, you're not going to cheat us, right?"

The Bull-headed man remained silent for a moment after hearing this, then shook his head and said, "Allow me to correct you. I am not the 'Ox of Human'."

"Not the 'Ox of Human'?" Tian Tian looked at the big man in front of her with confusion. "But don't you all have names like 'Ox of Human'?"

"I am the 'Ox of Earth'." The Bull-headed man said calmly. "If you think I am the 'Ox of Human', you will be in for a surprise."

Only then did everyone notice that the 'Ox of Earth' in front of them was indeed different from the animal masks they had seen before. His mask was very clean, lifelike, just like a real ox. His black suit was also spotless, as if it had been specially ironed. When he spoke... it seemed like the mouth of the mask was also slightly moving.

But what is the difference between the Ox of Human and the Ox of Earth?

"Ox of Earth..." Qi Xia scratched his head, unable to understand the relationship. He looked up and asked, "Ox of Earth, what is your game?"

The Ox of Earth paused for a moment and said, "Pay the 'Ticket' to find out the content."

"Pay the 'Ticket'..."

What Qi Xia was concerned about now was that if the four of them participated in the game at the same time, the tactics they had discussed earlier would be ineffective.

The four of them would be entering an unknown game together, which carried great risks.

But if they participated in a game with such high stakes, the risks and rewards seemed to be proportional.

"Hey, Qi Xia, what do you think the game type of 'Ox' is?" Qiao Jiajin asked.

Qi Xia pondered for a moment and answered, "I guess it's the type of game I hate the most."

"Oh? You have game types that you hate?" Qiao Jiajin suddenly became interested. "What is it?"

"'Ox' is born to work hard. If I'm not mistaken, it should be a 'Physical' type game." Qi Xia glanced at Qiao Jiajin. "It might be more suitable for someone like you, a brute."

"Haha!" Qiao Jiajin rolled up his sleeves, revealing his muscular tattooed arm. "Finally, it's my time to shine... Wait, who are you calling a brute?"

Qi Xia shook his head helplessly and said, "If it weren't for the 'Dao', I probably wouldn't enter the 'Ox' room."

"Don't worry, just call me 'Big Boss'. I'll guide you through the game of oxen." Qiao Jiajin said with a mischievous smile. "Sounds like a good deal, right?"

Qi Xia turned around and looked at Qiao Jiajin in front of him. "You and I look about the same age, at most twenty-six or twenty-seven. Why should I call you 'Big Boss'?"

"If you put it that way, I have to calculate it with you!" Qiao Jiajin scratched his head. "What year were you born?"Qi Xia always felt that Qiao Jiajin carried an air of fearlessness, able to joke and laugh even in such a suffocating environment.

"You'd be better off warming up now," Qi Xia said dismissively, "so you don't cramp up later."

"No way." Qiao Jiajin was intrigued, "Come on, tell me! If you're older than me, I can call you 'big brother'!"

"Sigh." Qi Xia, unable to out-argue Qiao Jiajin, could only sigh and say, "Fine, you go first, what year were you born?"

"1979." Qiao Jiajin grinned.

"1979... What's so funny?" Qi Xia frowned, "You're really going to any lengths to earn this 'big brother' title. I don't want to discuss this topic with you anymore."

"Huh? Why?" Qiao Jiajin looked at Qi Xia in confusion, "Come on, tell me what year you were born in, are you younger than me?"

Tian Tian also shook her head with a smile on the side. It seemed that being with Qiao Jiajin was the right choice. His personality could dispel some of the gloom in everyone's hearts.

Qiao Jiajin called Qi Xia's name a few more times, but when he found that the other party completely ignored him, he could only shake his head helplessly.

A few minutes had passed, and the current number of people was still nineteen.

It seemed that although there were quite a few participants here, they were not everywhere. It was indeed a bit difficult to gather twenty people in a short time.

"Hasn't he arrived yet?" The middle-aged man asked Little Glasses next to him, "Did he oversleep?"

"I don't know, he promised to come over this morning." Little Glasses scratched his head, "Or should I go out on the street and pull someone else in?"

"Forget it..." The middle-aged man waved his hand, "We already have nineteen people, let's just wait for him. I don't want to die without knowing why."

Their conversation was heard word for word by Qi Xia not far away.

"Die?" Qi Xia frowned, "What does 'die' mean? Can you die in this game?"

Before he could figure it out, a lazy figure appeared in the distance.

He was bare-chested, revealing a body full of scars, wearing a pair of camouflage pants, stretching lazily as he moved towards them.
